tbf he did spend a whole bunch of money to plan a day around the convention. id be upset too if i did all that and got the blue lives called in after 10 mins inside
I'm a furry and I was actually at this Anthrocon in fursuit. I'm using an anonymous account because I'm sure if my friends knew I was writing this, I'd get tons of backlash. But I 100% think that the way security handled this was insanely unprofessional. Conventions generally have strict rules regarding filming. Basically, they don't care if you whip out your phone and start recording your friends, but the moment you interview someone, you're magically considered a member of the "press", and you need press passes or you'll get in trouble. I personally don't agree with it because the policies doesn't really make the line very clear, but that's the standard practice. I've been to numerous other conventions and Anthrocon is without a doubt the strictest about this policy. I can at least understand why furry conventions are cautious about allowing comedy/influencer RUclipsrs roam freely and interview attendees. No matter how good-intentioned you are, you'll inevitably bump into someone who is socially awkward and it leads to unintentional cringe-worthy comedy (which makes the convention look bad because the immediate response from furries would be "why did you even let this jerk film in here in the first place?"). If I'm being totally honest though, I watched the whole video, and other than some dumb memes, I genuinely thought the three of you were surprisingly respectful and polite towards the other furries. It almost makes me wish I bumped into you during the event because I would have at least given you guys a fist-bump. The fact you guys got ejected when I saw WAY more degenerate behavior at AC (that went completely unpunished) completely baffles me. And the "unintentional cringe-worthy comedy" I mentioned earlier? I think the convention staff nailed that perfectly. Does Uncle Kage (AC's chairman) honestly think having his staff screaming at the cameraman and yanking people's lanyards off is a remotely good look to the general public? If they don't want RUclipsrs filming, they should at least have the staff do it with SOME tact or discretion. The way that situation played out in the video comes off as "we absolutely have something to hide" to any onlooker. In conclusion, as a fursuiter myself, I found the staff's handling of this situation to be incredibly disappointing. It's regrettable that I didn't have a chance to meet you guys at the convention, as while I've never seen your other videos, I absolutely would have expressed my support over how you all conducted yourselves.
That’s an awesome response. I would like you to take note of an interesting observation. compare Brandon’s juggalo video and his furry videos, there are awkward and cool people in both, it’s human nature. The amount of insecurities and passive aggressiveness that comes off in the furry community is what’s primarily of putting to people. clover is a good example of a furry who’s confident and willing to poke fun, the comments like Clover. I had zero interest in looking at furrys in any other light besides weird until Brandon’s videos. if there’s smoke there’s fire, and the anthrocons staff definitely makes me thing they are hiding something.
Yeah I'm a furry as well, and I get the staff being weary of influencers that enter the con, but the way they handled this "situation" was just wrong, they did a great job at making themselves look like total douchebags though 👍

The problem with Anthrocon is that Kage and a lot of his inner circle of staff are insanely paranoid, and are so hyper fixated on "trying to maintain a good public image of the fandom" (or really what Kage considers to be a good public image), his panel on talking to the press makes him seem narcissistic and a bit desperate to control the narrative around the fandom, and the only requirement to join the staff is that you've thoroughly drunk Kage's purple Kool-Aid. I'd give Midwest Fur Fest or Painted Desert Fur Con a go for your next try.
Brodie fits in better than the rest of them tbh... but he sure as h3ll said some sh!t that wasn't caught. I don't think it was the alcohol, they were kicked out b4 that AND after that. I think its cuz they could tell they weren't furries, are racist, and they also didn't want any of the known predators in the furry Fandom to be seen on film at this con they allowed them to go to. I bet they didn't have any filming allowed for that reason, if that was the case, because people go feral when that happens and start boycotting the con.
@@fungustheclown666 that's very true, they are known for ruining an entire convention and if they took down the world's most famous one they wouldn't just be kicked out by law enforcement, but possibly physically attacked by at least 10 furries all at once, and then furries would be blamed for attacking a famous influencer for "no reason" and then more minors would be told they're mursuiters and zoos

@@BrandonBuckingham I doubt this is the case, but chris-chan had some serious problems with the furries and you have a chris-chan video posted? It would kind of be like blaming comic book fans because some convention center operators were crappy to you , or blaming people who like fine dining because the restaurant wouldn't let you come in without a suit and tie
It's not hard to figure out. Since the creation of furries, people have been shitting on them, treating them as social outcasts and trying everything they can do to make their lives worse. If you were holding a convention for people that having been catching shit since the '80s and you saw someone who looks nothing like you or your community walking around without a camera, you'd feel a little suspicious too, you'd think it's just another person tryna make your community look like shit, especially someone without a press pass. Am I saying Brandon was in the wrong? No, from what he showed in the video he was being nothing but respectful and I don't have any reason to believe that he was being any other type of way while the cameras weren't on, but you have to try to see where they're coming from. It's the same reason why some black people don't like white people. For context, I'm not a furry, I can just see where they're coming from.

This 💯. 💯. Your comment needs to be pinned. The vibe was too fun, free and silly for the nerds to handle. They had a little bit of power and completely exploited. Hopefully the con gets it together and becomes more welcoming. Hate is easy, love takes courage
This is painfully untrue. Furries understand socialization fully, most furries have a very high education and very high paying jobs. I myself have an education in psychology and public speaking. It does not take a Socially inept person to make the assumption that these people were there to cause harm when 9 out of 10 RUclipsrs are. It was an unfair assumption, but not an unfounded one.
Funny thing, you can have a high education and a high paying job and still be socially inept. Also, assuming youtubers are out to attack them and chasing out the ones that aren't is just feeding fuel to the fire, the problem isn't being helped. @@KLARIZsaf
ABSOLUTELY false VERY high education would be multiple masters and doctorates. VERY high paying jobs would be well over 300k a year since average income is in the 80s. While a group of Furry within a certain socio economic range could exhibit these traits having hand picked recruits from their social circle, once you extrapolate across the world you couldn't possibly hold that average. That is literally impossible. Most furries are either below average wage earners with high school educations followed by those with typical bachelors degrees. The groups hows high intersectionality with comic/sci fi/game convention nerds. Masters/Doctorates make up the smallest group and of those, elite doctorates make up a small sub sector. This is because the culture has NO means of excluding based on intellect or socioeconomic and thus is a sub section of America as a whole, in America. You are arguing that power achievers are drawn to the lifestyle and that that sub section makes up the majority of the people you are going to see on the convention room floor....? Really.....? I mean, the staff have repeatedly refused to ban the likes of Khord Kitty, Growly, Crusader Cat, you know, known pedos/zoos? Of course they'd default to being weird and try to ban someone who's asking too many questions. Furry cons are the epitome of "don't ask, just consume".
they suddenly become hyperaware of their degenerate interests and perversions the second they see a person with a recording device. I know it's hard to believe but even furrys feel shame
My little theory is that Anthrocon as one of the oldest Furry Cons out there, has had a lot of negative publicity from the media interactions in the past, which made them overly sensitive to anything media related. As a Furry myself I think it's a shame, that they feel they have to completely remove you from the convention.

And this is why I often question the validity of Furry conventions and the Fandom as a whole, the whole sentiment of "we don't want people to make us look bad" while simultaneously trying to kick outside influencers out of conventions because they may "show inappropriate stuff" is beyond hypocritical... it's down right shady. Sincerely A fellow furry that's had enough of the gatekeeping B.S. of these Cons.
bro if u actually went to cons then you’d know what YOURE saying is completely hypocritical. They kick influencers out not because they’re showing inappropriate stuff, they are acting inappropriately. These three were wrongly kicked out yes. I’m not disagreeing so don’t try and twist my words when i say this, *but* you as a furry should know that some people come in purely to bully. Literally look at brodie bro. It’s obvious the furry staff were lowkey power tripping but they have a reason to do their job if they get complaints. Especially cause Brodie is known to harass. Furries deal with bullying online and irl so it’s not out of the ordinary for them to assume these three are gonna cause problems when they themselves aren’t furries. TL;DR you’re comment is hypocritical and puts a bad stereotype of furcons and furries. Also the three in this video were wrongfully kicked out
So, it's 2024. I was at an event recently where shock tubers were harrassing con attendees. You did absolutely nothing wrong, but some of Brodies actions and comments were likely overheard and reported. The security staff certainly did overreact, but after seeing people get harrassed to the point of tears is nothing to scoff at. Also, this furry con is apparently a huge one compared to the first one you went too, so they deal with that more on a regular basis and their security can be uptight. I have other stories that I think you would get a kick out of hearing if you ever want to hear some insane stuff that goes on behind the scenes. Keep making videos man. Keep spreading the love.
@@AC-gm6dr His language alone is enough for some stiff warnings and even ejection depending on how the show operates. I was even thinking of making a video talking about this very subject. I have seen content creators with charges pressed for harassing attendees at similar shows. All first hand. What I love about Brandon is that he is very respectable about everythinghe does and I feel that the staff 100% had sticks up their asses. They approached the situation wrong and it really sucked to see in the video, but many (possible) violations of event rules are being commited here by his party including filming without a press pass (which this rule varies from event to event) as well as the use of innapropriate language, public intoxication and open containers as well, which is all up to each individual event to make those rules and police them in accordance with the venue and state laws for public events. Things are WAY more deep than they let on in this world, and it's usually for safety reasons. 100% love Buckingham's content and I would extend him an invite to any of my shows that I am involved in. I’m a furry and I haven’t actually seen or experienced stuff like this but all I can say is that there are people on the internet who record furries at cons and do bad things to them so what I’m thinking is that the staff at these cons are fed up with recorders so they automatically think whoever’s recording something is bad news. You guys didn’t deserve that and I wish people would think before they do something.
I am almost certain Anthrocon staff lied to the police about what you were actually doing. The worst they could have you is as a public nuisance and it either takes a fuckload of reports or being a nuisance directly to them to get the police to come after you like that.
If your "friends" lash out at you for speaking your mind, they're not real friends.

No, from what he showed in the video he was being nothing but respectful and I don't have any reason to believe that he was being any other type of way while the cameras weren't on, but you have to try to see where they're coming from. This 💯.
@@KLARIZsaf
ABSOLUTELY false
VERY high education would be multiple masters and doctorates.
Psychology is "north campus" Dr. Phil had more success than most of you, and he didn't even have a degree at the time. Public speaking can be taught from a dummy's guide or self taught, objectively neither of these scream high intellect or income.... I think you have delusions of grandeur and/or very little grasp of sociology. I'll take your word for it on your psychology background.... not all campuses are equal of course
Furry as a group has a disproportionately high level of people on the spectrum. Does not matter their functionality... thats why its called the spectrum.... and THUS THE APPEAL of having a FUR-SONA. It was LITERALLY made as a tool to help socialization for people on the spectrum. An aid...a crutch.

Sincerely
A fellow furry that's had enough of the gatekeeping B.S. of these Cons.
bro if u actually went to cons then you’d know what YOURE saying is completely hypocritical.

“Surely to god you see furries walking around the hood!!” Brandon is hilarious
Keep spreading the love.
what did brodie do?
We will show them how con staff should treat people.
@@TriggerhappyProjects I still don't get what he said was wrong?
I get it but they deliberately went after Brandon and at no point did they say anything to the group about having an issue with their language. It was about them recording. It sounds like they just made assumptions
@@queenspukee It was that they where asking furries questions. Conway HATES when you show up and aren't one of his preferred press members that he can control what gets published, especially if you do so while asking questions of furries on camera who haven't been personally approved by Conway to speak to "members of the press". Dude has literally stated this propagandist bulls**t on camera a few times.

They probably said you were committing some sort of felony like theft, threatening people, or high on crack in order to get the police looking for you days after the fact like that.
They were walking around with an open container the staff probably just said a bunch of drunks are harassing our guests
@@Homeless_spoon I'm gonna be real unless it is a *very* slow day in the precinct the cops are not gonna waste time trying to track down a couple supposedly drunk dudes days after the fact.
