I like army painter dark tone cause it is cheaper but I do like the citadel pot for my washes (even though I have tipped them pots over way more than I'd like to admit LOL)
I know what you mean. I like them both because they have different use cases. Sometimes you want a darker, thicker and sometimes you want the finesse you get from Citadel Color. I haven't spilled either, but I know it's just a matter of time for good old Nuln Oil. I use a dropper to pull a small amount from the pot and drop it into a little dry palette to manage the spill risk.
