- On May 28, Porsche is set to unveil the new 911 hybrid, a landmark development in the celebrated 911 series. This will be the first time a hybrid powertrain is installed in a 911 intended for regular road use, signaling a modern evolution for the iconic sports car which has a legacy spanning over six decades.
The development of the 911 hybrid has been extensive, with Porsche confirming that the vehicle has undergone over 3.1 million miles of testing. Among the standout achievements is the car's performance at the Nürburgring. The hybrid model completed a lap of the Nordschleife in 7 minutes and 16.9 seconds, beating the previous model by 8.7 seconds. This is particularly notable when compared to the 7:25 lap time set by the 992-generation Carrera S in 2020.
Details about the specific components of the hybrid system are still under wraps, but Porsche emphasizes that the focus is on dynamic performance rather than just fuel efficiency. The car is not expected to be a plug-in hybrid. Throughout its development, Porsche rigorously tested the vehicle under diverse conditions worldwide, including extreme cold and heat, ensuring its performance is consistent in any environment.
As the reveal date approaches, Porsche enthusiasts and potential buyers are eagerly anticipating further details about the hybrid system and how it integrates with the 911’s renowned performance capabilities. All the specifics will be disclosed during the unveiling on May 28.

Let’s be honest, Porsche will nail it
Absolutely my thoughts entirely , however tell me do you think as they were committed to the electric Macan that it will be a success ? Because I’m sure you know the ICE engined Macan have been discontinued .
@@stevensofroniou I think it will long term mate, obviously depends on the market but yes long term
@@Drifty325i Thank you for your advice M8 much appreciated 👍🏻
Sounds perfect. No plug in and its only used to have no turbo lag. Porsche engineering>
I like that they went back to a centered exhaust.
If you wish for your new 911 to depreciate hard, be sure that it has an oversized battery
Good that means I can get it cheaper in 4-5 years😊
@@Rapido20 Wont be any cheaper since you gonna need a new battery thats gonna set you back 10s of thousands.
A 48 volt battery for a hybrid system will cost less than a pair of turbos that goes bad.
@@improvementchannel270 you’re extremely du mb as the life expectancy of this system (also used in ny taxis Prius) can easily reach 500k miles without replacement)
This is the greatest news for me that most everyone seems so disappointed with the new hybrid Porsche 911, I should have zero issues buying one!
I would love an hybrid 911 Dakar for a daily use.
How's the weight going to be?
Oké No plugging, then it must have a killer regenbreaking abilities with a 2 KWh battery pack for extra power!
One of the most aggravating voices I have heard...
I really hope it’s the 4.0!!
Let me know if they need someone to test drive it for 250,000 miles
So is this 992.2 or "992.1 hybrid version"?
It had better not be a 992.1.
992.2
Everyone's talking about it as a new hybrid version of the 992, not that it is or is part of the new generation of 992. They speak of it like it's one singular model in the line of 911s. I don't hear any mentions of a new base, S, GTS, etc alongside it
992.2 new platform
@@user-my4xu4gf1z so all trims will now be hybrid? Ie. Base, s, GTS, etc will all be hybrid? Or the hybrid is one of the models in the 992.2 lineup?
Hybrids rule !!
Indeed !!! 👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️
3 million miles??????
😮 NO PLUG INS 😔 EVER
Y'all need to stop complaining you're all little children 😂
You see… do we not want to see the word “hybrid” next to 911.
It seems I have a 911S 992.1 which is going to be the last true full petrol 911. Thank god for that. This will push the resale value of all 992.1 cars and probably previous generations too.
Whilst I am not shocked by this I am disappointed by this decision and will not be purchasing a Porsche with any resemblance of a hybrid engine. I was planning on trading in for a turbo s in two years time but if this hybrid fad is applied to the turbo s I will be taking my cash elsewhere.
Very poor decision indeed.
I have a 992.1 Carrera T on order. Manual transmission, Slicktop. Gonna be a unicorn soon.
The 918 spider is hybrid. Goes for millions. I think you need to relax
Remember the technology is from the LMP 1 919 racing car which is innovative and ballistically fast , however as a Porsche disciple I can see the purists point of view on this .
@@brentvalencia8347 won't go for millions much longer
they the next model will be all carbon fiber to make up for the additional weight and the milking will continue into hydrogen power
Tragedy
So it will be four-cylinder😂
Most likely a 3.0 N/A flat six.
@@caryg4638 3.6L
not interested in hybrid
More good news for me!
Bye porsche
GOODBYE
Hybrid bullshit
Better than fully electric
Indeed. Would you have ever think it 911 and hybrid in the same sentence?
Look at its design too. Looks like Porsche are over compensating to me with that ridiculous wing.
@@anonymoushuman8962 loli agree but it's the aero kit carerra. An option they've offered for a long time. Just not many out there (you can see why)
@@billnorblat4047 oh right I didn’t realize that the new so called 911 hybrid (I feel weird just saying that) would be “advertised” with that ridiculous wing. It just comes across as excessive probably to keep the boy racers tuned in.
I have 911S 992.1 and am planning on trading it in in a few years for a turbo S… I hope they don’t go hybrid on that. If they do I will pass and probably look at something else. What do you reckon?
Hybrid isnt as bad as u think it is. This isnt even a plug in hybrid. The electric tech is only used to have no turbo lag. I think its brilliant
