If money is the object, you already know heavy haul is the way to go! Good luck old friend.

That’s the way crash repair works. It’s not dodgy, that way the repairs get done correctly. Insurance and yourself pay the repairer for the completed work done.

Please don't use your home as an ATM, also check with the bank if your income will hinder mortgage renewal, best to be prepared.

Use your house as a ATM to buy an accordion that you'll sell for 40% less in a year. This is how people end up living in sewers. Talk to life is good tim. Make some money before your too old. The clock is ticking Captain and the holes in your wallet need fixing

@@HHTV60 At 62... it is a little late. Time is not on your side to make investments outside a condo and car (dubious investment) to start working for you. I predict being a 92 year old Walmart greeter in your future unless you sort this out quickly.

It’s hard to believe that the lien holder/lender was ok with such a high deductible.. at that high of a deductible, you might as well not have insurance. If someone talked you into that you really need to follow up. You’re kind’ve screwed

The banks are locked into federal mortgage rules in Canada... which include CHMC stress tests such as debt to income ratios. However, there are many private equity lenders which may be able to get you a second mortgage... although the interest rates will likely be higher.

That hail storm caused about a billion dollars of damage. Good thing you sold the Charger, it's someone else's problem if it got pelted by hail.

I don't know how you lived in Canada that long and even drove a tow truck and still not get it. You don't have to pay that deductible. Here is how it works in Ontario. There are tow trucks all around spending their time listening to police scanners for accidents. Once they get the tow job, all they do is to give it to shop for 25% of whatever the insurance pays out. The shop gladly pays that and even forgives a $1,000 deductible. All this is because the insurance payout is always generous enough to cover all these. Instead of talking to a bank, you should be going around shops. I am sure you will find one that covers your deductible or at least half of it. It is high time to get your head out of the sand. Good luck.

You’ve dug yourself into a hole that gets deeper. All things point to a way that you can make good money. And that’s going back to long haul trucking . Just my humble opinion Captain. And you let the dealer money grabbers talk you into the worst car deal ever. That Compass without the hail dings is only worth about 30 K now .Deduct say 5K to fix the dings , so as it sits it’s only worth 25 K… Half what you paid for that overpriced money pit made in Mexico.

The Bank in Canada is the government, those banks are all the same

That sounds fishy I lived in Airdrie in 2010 when the worst hail storm happened. We had 2 vehicles damaged plus the RV So what happened was the next day we took our vehicles to this place and it only took like 20 mins for them to say both were right offs. Within 2 buisness days we had checques for the value of the vehilces plus we bought them back for like 1000 for mine and 2000 for my wifes. We paid no deductable. Also they put a new window in the back of my Grand Am it all worked out great!!!! You are getting taken to the bank!

That cabover is a Scania. Topline means is that's the tallest cab. I used to work with one of those. I rode a 430hp inline6 but this one is an R500 version, which comes with a 500 hp V8 engine. Wonderful machine!

When I was an Autobody Repair Refinishing apprentice back in the late 1980’s we saw a video put out by General Motors on repairing hail damage. Pretty interesting…acetylene torch, body hammer, bucket of cold water and a cloth to shrink the metal back to shape.

Why don’t you fix it yourself. Insurance companies will increase rates after you submit a claim

Read this carefully. Get a list of several accredited shops from your insurance and go to each of them showing them your car. Don't tell them insurance is paying for it. Get an estimate from each. Go with the one you think is best equipped to fix your and tell them you are broke and they will readily agree to waive the deductible. Get that in writing. I rarely get into accidents but when I do, believe me, my car gets fixed and the shop gives me bonus.

Firstly, Atlantic Time is 3 hours ahead of Mountain Time, not two. They are one hour ahead of Toronto, Montreal, New York.
Secondly, the process of payment you are describing is very normal and standard (insurance pays repair shop, you pay repair shop).
Let's assume the repair is $8,000. So the body shop invoices the insurance company for $8K. The insurance company deducts the deductible and pays $3K to the repair shop. Then the repair shop comes to you to collect the remaining $5K. In the end, the repair shop receives $8K for $8K's worth of work. Pretty straight forward.
The truck is a Scania R500. A European truck. Scanias have some die hard fans in Canada and the US who will import them once they are 25 years old (they can't be newer).

At least here in California, the insurance company must write you a check if that is what you want. Many times insurance companies do not prefer that, but if you insist they have to comply. A few years back, somebody ran into my truck, and at that time, I was broke and out of work, so I lived off the settlement for a few months and did not get the truck fixed. I would do your own research to see if the law is the same in Canada.

You can buy a hail proof car cover from TEMU for $70. A good investment.
