20 years in the making. But a damn fine costume
It's was amazing to see in action. If you grew up with the original X-Men movie this suit is what we alway wanted, by God it didn't disappoint!
They did an amazing job with Wolverine's costume. It looked incredible in the movie!!
When Hugh pulled on the cowl in the movie, my inner child began to hum the cartoon theme song as my adult self sat with eyes wide and an enormous grin. Great design. 🤘
Cue guitar sounds 😂😂
"Killin', mostly."
18:16 Adam Savage doing the entire cosplay community a solid
This is so fantastic, thanks for taking us through it. I love how respectful and generous they are of the fans who will be recreating it.❤❤❤
😎U have no idea how long fans and nerds have waited 4 Hugh Jackman 2 wear the comic accurate uniform, the dude looked absolutely awesome in it😎
Can we cover the brown suit? The brown suit is my all time favorite!
Does it actually exist in physical form? Was it not CGI like the Endgame suits?
@@DDavEE ooh, good point.
@@DDavEE By the Gods I hope so!!!
@@DDavEE It does exist, there's a behind the scenes video of the editors talking about the Wolverine variants and showing each of them and it's obviously a practical suit made
It's probably one of the test suits they made to try and nail down this one. Just painted differently. The said they were able to utilize all of their test pieces unless I heard wrong
One of the best and most beautiful suits in CBM! Everyone who worked on it deserves a lot of respect and love among the fans.
Awesome that at least one aspect of the suit was made in Canada! 🇨🇦
@15:57 Jeff and his team at Jitterbug Boy are amazing shoemakers. Based in Toronto. They have worked on some incredible projects.
I'm really impressed how roomy and comfortable it looks too. Most MCU actors HATED their suits. Chadwick hated his Civil War black panther suit, RDJ hated every suit after the Mark 1 to the point he wanted it CGI, Chris hated his avengers captain america suit etc. So I'm glad they made it easy and comfortable for Hugh to wear. You know you're perfect in your craft when the guy wearing it refuses to take it off and is ecstatic to be in it.
They were shocked to be in front of Adam for about 98% of this video. Loved it! The funniest thing is that Adam was so excited and humble as always.
The costume looks so cool
Meanwhile Fox couldn't get it right after close to 10 damn movies.
They did such an incredible job with the mask as well. Wolverines mask has been my favorite in any character in any intellectual property. Great job, guys!
I've been wanting to see wolverine in a comic book accurate costume since I feel in love with the character back in 1989. I think the final product hit the mark very well.
I love how respected Adam is in the film industry. Says a lot about how he interacts with people.
He once was a model builder at ILM. So he kind of knows how much work goes into making something for a movie. He's also a bit of a geek for it.
@@86LukeMit’s always interesting seeing him talk to the younger model and people makes and being amazed at what techniques are available
@@TonyTylerDraws indeed. He came from the era of handmade or finding ways to do things. Like there's alumaluster which gave that shine to Mando's armor. Adam back in the day had to work on the Naboo Royal Starship and make it shiny. He said he used mylar balloons stretched over the model. It's pretty much a major leap from his time to now.
Why wouldn't he be? He is huge part of it, knows everyone and good person to be around who appreciates others' wotk
Incredible to think there was a time when a majority of people (my young edgy teen self included) thought black leather was cooler than this. Perfection 👌
I absolutely love the way the cowl and neck section of the costume functions. I hope the DCU uses that template for their new Batman, especially so that he can move his damn head. Plus the white eyes.
When I was a kid I never really liked the blue and yellow suit because I thought it looked ridiculous. But now that I see it in this style, it looks so perfect that it makes me angry they didn’t use it in all of the past X-Men films.
Blame the director who wanted all the suits to be black because The Matrix had come out the previous year and the hottest thing to wear in 2000 was all black.
Honestly I don’t think it would have worked. There was still this idea at the time that comic costumes had to be BRIGHT colors rather than the subdued colors that Spider-Man and the early MCU films pushed instead. Look at
Christopher Reeves’ Superman costume compared to Brandon Routh’s in Superman Returns (which also was directed by Bryan Singer)
I remember in the first movie they made fun of the comic look saying what would you prefer yellow and blue spandex? Nah ya'll just dress in tight constricting black all leather with trenchcoats so you look like your in a Blade or Matrix movie.
Wish he kept the shoulder pads when the sleeves got torn off,
but still really cool looking adaptation
I 💯 agree.
Finally great reference for painting up the wear marks on a Wolverine cowl.
Thx a million!
👍 👍
Thanks, Adam. Did they design/build the costumes for the other alternate Logans too?
This stuff absolutely fascinates me as a comic book collector!!! I love seeing how changes are made from page to real life.
The costume looks incredible, the people who made it deserve all the best!
This is one of my favourite suits of all time and seeing the breakdown of it and in depth look is so cool, much love LFG
Goated video
that costume is phenomenal
Professional costuming has become such an interesting space with the accessibility of technology. While I embrace as much as I can, it's SO easy to go overboard with details to the point where you have to start going back to modesty for the sake of being able to produce it, even with the best tools available in your repertoire. 3D scanning, modeling, printing, 3d CNC carving, etc. It's more approachable to bang out incredible parts, while at the same time, having to reign in some of that when it comes to molding and making copies.
The wolvie suit looks modest but functional and still does everything it needs to for portraying an interpretation of a classic scheme.
Last year? I thought the film came out this year?!?!?!
it did, I assume he may be miscommunicating about the fact that it was made last year
@@nateproductions8264 or as I am thinking now, maybe the actual production started last year and that's why he's saying last year?
I think he meant to say "of" or "in" the last year.
“Of the last year”
He didn't say of the last year. Both the closed captions and anyone who runs it back can clearly hear him say "one of the biggest movies last year"
TheRPF needs more views of those gloves!
I was wondering just how much of it was CG after what they did with the Avengers time suits completely replacing their costumes.
Cosplayers will have a field day with this video , i bet someone will try to make (copy) this to the utmost detail. XD
the moment Wolverine pulls the mask down was one of the most hype movie moments I had in the last years. the costume design was on point and the comic accuracy long over due.
Adam for sure was itching to wear it lol Great video - thanks for sharing.
You are not wrong.
remember, wolverine is member of x-men.
Adam Savage looked good when he wore that mask
90% sure he’s gonna make one
Fidlocks are the best cosplay fasteners if velcro is to not enough.
The only real question i have is when is Adam making a Wolverine cosplay for the channel?
I cant stop looking to the mask
It would be so funny 😁 if Wolverine had just come alive and said, "Whatcha doing buds 🤣
thank you so much Adam. It ´s so facinating :O
DP&W better win an Oscar for Best Costumes.
Superb. One of the all time greatest superhero costumes.
well that was fun
as a cosplayer you can't imagine my delight this video was
I've not seen the film yet and trying so hard to avoid spoilers , now that I've got to wait for the blu ray or stream.
That said this costume looks cool .
Bro, you are late to party but party is dying down. And it was awesome party. Enjoy the movie
@jacobharris954 sadly yes I'm late to the party . It's the joys of being a full time Carer. 8ve even thought about changing my name on here now as I don't really get to dj now . I'm sure I'll enjoy the movie , I'm just trying to watch season 2 of loki now ready for it.
FBFX ARE THE BEST COSTUMERS IN THE WORLD
Still just two Batman's kissing.
That’s badass
This costume is just glorious!!! The Cavillrine only wears a white tank top and jeans.
storywise - he didn't feel the guilt of the "worst wolverine." practically, they didn't have Cavill long enough or money to make him a custom suit.
the mask really makes up for the sleeves 😍😍
FANTASTIC work, but a boring interview unfortunately. Thanks for trying to get them to show some excitement Adam. Lol
Had to remove the sleeves too lol
The suit is just a piece of art, man. And despite the fact that it is based on 2004 Astonishing Wolverine and not on 1975 or 1993 Classic Wolverine, I still love it. It looks amazing. My only problem is that, they didn't kept the shoulder pads after that car fight scene. Because we all know that Wolverine always had them on his suit, so seen him after that without shoulder pads is kinda surprising but still, the suit is great. Now I wonder who did that yellow and brown suit that we see in that short scene in the movie. Because that one is great in it's own way.
22 costumes. 4 or more test mules. And boots. And different sizes for different actors/ stunt guys. You can see how this movie cost $200,000,000. But then the marketing spend was probably $250,000,000. And the producers gets about 50% of the revenue. So an outlay of $450,000,000 and income of $661,000,000. Worth the expense to make a 25% margin of $111,000,000.
Amazing work!!! WOW
**me scanning the background of the picture for a bunch of Prusa MK4s or Bambu X1Cs***
I just don’t see the need for all the hexagon and carbon fiber pattern it’s becoming a little frustrating CONSTANTLY seeing it in the super hero suits
Amazing and beautiful costume!! But no one had yet explained why thoy looked of the shoulder pads!!
Least enthusiastic most boring people involved with the most fascinating project…. Jesus dude there’s so much you can talk about can we maybe hear about a little of it?
The Suit looks Great - The cowl needs more Fine Tuning.
The pointed nose makes it come across more like a Bird than a Wolverine Cowl.
OH. MY. FUCKING. GOD.
I’m wondering if the “wings” on the cowl serve any purpose. I realize that they have always been a stylistic element but they don’t seem to serve a pragmatic purpose. They actually would get in the way and probably be irritating.
Whats the Canadian BOOTS COMPANY NAME? site or instagram anyone got it ?
Were all the other Wolverine costumes like the Brown/Yellow, and the Apocalypse suit real? Or were they like the Clone Armor in the Star Wars Prequels
AVP 👽
That's your space 🌌 helmet 🪖 / it was nice to see original colors / / this is / Thanx / o.k./ right the time / and ..I guess some appreciation ....,I think 💬 / I bet
Couldn't they make a similar outfit with actual protective fabrics? The army should hire these guys to make a 'real' version for the military. Way more money in that. :) Also Edward Woodward...Any relation to the Woodward family of actors?
Love the Brits but the way they talk, the accent. Man it's irritating. We have one that flew here to the states at our job. Tried talking to him a bit. Lol
Amazing work. It is just too bad that they can't make them practicle for one person to put on by themselves or to carry around like actual clothes.
Fuck yes!!!!! Thank God someone showed us this up close ❤❤❤❤❤❤
So they real life version of suit guy in the movie except without crouch grabbing and arse slapping 😂😂
We HAVE to have these guys make the batman suit for the new DCU! Preferably with the white eyes
I love the white eyes in these films, it makes them more intimidating and ominous and mysterious you cannot see what they are looking at, just like iron mans helmet. batman def needs a cowl with white eyes
I was thinking about that, The Batman suit was pretty good but not quite the iconic one, they could do it rather well I think
It just looks goofy in real life and takes away any emotion that the face can portray
@@TheCrazyN Imagine if it was successfully done tho, plus it fits batman
@@TheCrazyN i find the deadpool mask still manages to emote really well with the white eyes , i liked the sonar led eyes in the dark knight , maybe something like that wd look cool.
I wish they'd have made a more comic accurate version just to see how it'd look at scale. This one's very very close and I love it but if they can do this I think they could pull off the simpler one in the appropriate colors too.
I don't get why the cowl looks like CGI in the movie in several scenes, but there is an actual physical and good looking cowl to use.
Adam wanted a number of iterations and kept asking them the same question. But they wouldn't give him any number, lol.
I’m still not sure why Wolverines white eyes don’t work for me, while Deadpool’s does? It’s almost like they were sticking too far out.
Amazing. I’d love to know a few things like how did they land on basing the design on the astonishing suit, why they decided to include sleeves for part of the film seeing as it’s not on the source material, and how much it costs to develop a costume like this, must be thousands and thousands at the end of the day
such a gorgeous suit. can’t believe they finally went full comic-accurate with it.
I don’t like the costume i think it fits in the world of Deadpool and I understand that a lot of the panels and stuff are needed to keep suits integrity but what’s so hard about trying to capture the actual suit
last year? lol love ya Adam!
You’d think these two might have a little bit more enthusiasm? The guy looks like he doesn’t give two shits about any of this.
Hopefully, this puts all the haters who are confident the cowl was entirely cgi to rest lmao 👌🏾
Adam speaking from the future apparently.
Biggest movies last year ? I guess this went up a bit earlier than expected ;) great video guys :)
Wow the guy is boring, couldn't be a little more enthusiastic about this?
Boots made in Canada? Like Red Rose Tea😂
I couldn't understand the name of the company. Does anyone know what it is?
Crazy how much Ryan Meinerding is responsible for
Can we see and in-depth Deadpool costume making video
We (or at least I) need that in my life!😁🤗😎
Please take this into consideration
Thank you
I wonder if they’d produce a “sew your own” kit, you get authentic materials and with a scan a custom fit.
Deadpool and wolverine came out this year😂
I wish the same video existed for the Deadpool costume
How long before a screen used version of the suit ends up on Propstore i wonder
I always wondered how they covered the eye holes. Did not think it was mesh
Please tell me you'll be doing one for Agatha!!
Great Ep . Love this type of vid . \,,/
And he will wear this until he is 99 years old❤
Makes me want Mustard on a Hotdog.
after 20 fucking years!
