There are many reviews about Voigtländer Vito and other similar series. But only you actually put the film in and take the pic, and that what i wanted see! Thanks! Vitomatic iib might be the first film camera for me...maybe not... Now about to go to Camera shop!
WOW! First time watcher that was looking for info on Voigtländer Vitoret DR that I am borrowing from my neighbor in Berlin. Definitely a new Subscriber! I too love old cameras and their limitations because the force me to be more creative improve as a photographer! Thanks & Danke for doing this in English!
I started collecting some antique cameras and this is one of my favorites. I never buy any film cameras which take perfect photos! I use a film camera to have its taste and style in each photo. If I want perfect photos I can use my Lumix digital camera.
I got one of these recently but it's the DR version, with a top shutter speed of 1/300 sec. It's in really nice condition with a hard case and clean lens and everything seems to be working well. A big bonus is that the DR version has a built in (and accurate) rangefinder and lightmeter. I'm looking forward to running a roll through it but I reckon there should be no problems with it. But the best part is that for a Voigtlander rangefinder camera/lens I paid the princely sum of .......€35
Oh man, I love Voigtländer! I just bought a Voigtländer Brilliant from 1932, the same model that my grandfather owned as a child. I can't wait to shoot some rolls of medium format film 😁
Really enjoyed watching this, as mentioned like the switch to mono so no confusion over what were looking at. Setting Agfa Vista 200 at 100 gave great results.
You should try getting your hands on an old Robot camera. Theyre build like tiny tanks and the Schneider 40 1.9 lense that every second camera comes with is probably the highest quality lense i ever got my hands on.
This camera seems to be the same as a Zeiss Ikon Colora. The long draw on the shutter release takes some getting used to. Also the film advance sprocket is so large it feels like you aren’t advancing the film at all there’s so little resistance. As I get near the end of a roll I’m afraid I’ll advance it and it will tear the film from the canister. I don’t know if you ran into those concerns with this camera but they’re always on my mind while using the Colora. Anyways, cool video.
A quick and lazy reference for distance is three feet for every meter, or pretty close to that anyway. So if you can count in multiples of three and you aren't worried about being super precise then you're golden. (or pretty close anyway)
I only buy used cameras from Japan on ebay, they cost more plus some customs charge but all cameras I have bought are in mint as new condition.Recentlu bought Canon eos 7 elan and Pentax MZ-S plus some Pentax lenses all as described and mint. Its a pleasure to receive mint condition camera or lens and pleasure to walk around with perfect camera.Don’t buy from UK sellers most of the time they buy cameras on carboots and not even trying if it works they are selling on ebay as working, mint or excellent.
Edo. Me gustó tu canal. Un saludo!!!
my grandad got a Vitoret D for his 21st and now i have it, the light meter is broken, no rangefinder either so my solution (when i get film) is to use my DSLR with a 50mm prime on it to find the exposure and THEN dial that in, and guess the focus lol
Ed, love your (and Frannerd's) work. If you come across a Voigtländer Vito B I'd be interested to see you shoot with it, I recently acquired one and am having a blast with it. Its similar in the restrictive shutter-aperture nature of the Vitoret, and feels extremely sturdy in hand. It also has zone focusing, I just think you will have a lot of fun with it - and would love to see what you come up with. No hard feelings if you don't though.
Wicked :-D Its always good to watch your videos and learn something. I recently found a little thing like this in my dad's old camera bag but I didn't know what it is. I will try it with my Rollei 35 :-)
The advantage of an all-manual-mechanical analog camera (with a decent lens like these german vintage classics) is that you can make all kind of effects on the subjects by controlling the exposure, aperture, shutter speed and focus; but for that purpose you need to have a solid base of classic photography and physics; then you need to find a developing lab (which is a bit scarce these days), not counting the low availability of 35 mm film; but overall, a solid light camera from the 1960s; nice video!
Question ? Other than called a range finder does that gadget have another name? I'd like to get one as getting the same camera delivered shortly. Thank you very much. Like your videos very much as well. Regards Brian
Maybe using the hyperfocal distance it could work better even though a 50mm is not the best for this kind of use, otherwise I'd say that an equivalent for digital cameras is definitely all the sigma sd(s)
Great video, as always. Shame that Vista 200+ will no longer be around in the future - probably one the finest and least expensive emulsions for film photography. Roll on new emulsions...
What an interesting camera. Really places the emphasis on practicing and getting used to the quirks. Would a Yashica MAT 124g out of the question for an episode? I used to have a Rolleiflex 2.8E2 but I was really dumb and sold it before I got properly into film :( I bought a 124G as a poor man's substitute.
I love when you have people as subjects but I really do love videos like this you should do more! You have had a big impact on my photography and really tough me a lot! Keep doin what you're doing :)!
Hey Eduardo! Love all your videos!!!! Every single last one! So insightful and easy to follow. I recently acquired a Minolta SRT 201 and I love it! I wanted to know what film you use to make your beautiful pictures come out so vintage and dreamy looking. They’re beautiful! They have such a professional look to them no matter what you’re photographing. Please let me know the types of film I should get so I can one day produce pictures in the same realm as yours:) Side note: Any reason a lot of the pictures taken indoors are blurry? Lighting seems fine but they’re blurry? Not sure what to do when there’s movement... any advice would be appreciated!!!!:)
Hey there , great video and I love how the films turned out. Also, I love your video concept! It allows viewers like us to follow you on the process of shooting. However I notice that you are using something like an light meter app before shooting some shots. Would you like to share what app is that? -Nick from Singapore :)
i got one of those from my grandma. mine has a rangefinder but it seems to be misaligned. at something like 15 meters it gives me 3 meters distance. any idea for a fix?
Hey Ed!!! What lightmeter app do you use? I know you recently just mentioned it in one of your videos, I just can’t seem to find said video..... thanksss
I always wondered how comes those engineers, chemists and resarchers at Fuji invest millions in resarch and production if a random guy will no matter what know it better and instead of exposing at 200 ISO will do it at 100.
Dear Eduardo, great Episode as usual. I have the Voightander Vitoret LR - it's almost the same model, but the "LR" has the built-in rangefinder and also the lightmeter - (which doesn't work on mine) - and you right sometimes some issues with the shutter speeds (B to 300) - but this camera lens is pretty good quality and very quiet shutter. Here is a pic shot with it. instagram.com/p/BfqVV2PA5eh/
You're such a geek Eduardo, it would be so much easier to practice using feets, but nooo, you had to buy some gadget to overcome your measuring shortcomings, hahaha. By the way, I really like your videos, cheers!
Because I don't know how much a feet is, so there's no way I can zone focus. The other option would be shooting at f/16 all the time in order to have everything in focus, but it looks pretty bad to my eye... and in cloudy UK winter, shooting at f/16 with 100 ASA is not an option.
Yes, one meter is ABOUT 3 feet. The problem is since it’s a 50mm f/2.8 the background compression does not leave much room for mistakes if you shoot up close. That’s why I needed a rangefinder. ;)
Gracias.
Holy shit This was my very first film camera, I didn't even know how to expose properly back then And I loved it only as much as I hated it, it was a really weird relationship Still got it though Though this is what I did with it www.deviantart.com/art/C-41-649639936 And it's funny since just yesterday I was playing around with it, thinking I should clean it up and put a roll through it to see what it's really capable of since I now actually know how to take pictures Always love your reviews, keep it up!
Can you please go back to somebody following you around with the camera instead of the point of camera go pro perspective. I always found it really interesting and a bit inspiring to see someone else do streetphotography. And in my opinion the point of camera perspective kinda sucks for a whole video.
i like very much colors of the pictures of the voigtlander camera - the colors seem to be very natural, very different from most diggital cameras
Love the black and white video with the color film, really complements the film type!
I love that the video is in black and white but the pictures are in color!
There are many reviews about Voigtländer Vito and other similar series. But only you actually put the film in and take the pic, and that what i wanted see! Thanks!

I feel like whenever I buy a funky old camera and want to learn more about it and see results you have a video of the camera lol.
hahaha. Glad to be helpful in some way.
Ah, Hastings. Lot's to photograph there.
Great shots of Hastings Old Town....you got me thinking.....
What surprising images - nice colour and contrast. Sharp, too.i did not expect that.
I started collecting some antique cameras and this is one of my favorites. I never buy any film cameras which take perfect photos! I use a film camera to have its taste and style in each photo. If I want perfect photos I can use my Lumix digital camera.
Using crazy old cameras is definitely fun - you did a great job getting nice pictures with that camera.
Pics looks better then i thought just got my nans one. It came with a exposure metre with all the setting written on it.

i also bought Rangefinger, but for Smena Symbol - thank you for making video about it! - Rangefinger Blik
thanks a lot!
my model has the same exact problem at 30 shutter speed, your video made me aware of it - luckily I found this out before actually using
Really enjoyed watching this, as mentioned like the switch to mono so no confusion over what were looking at. Setting Agfa Vista 200 at 100 gave great results.
I just got a Vito CD for $20 with built in light meter fully functional.... can't wait, but I will have to wait until the 16th Jul... bloody Austpost.
Wow. If I used this camera I wouldn't have a single photo in focus.
Watching your videos just gives me immense pleasure!
That lens renders pretty nice in my opinion. You managed it very well.

Hey if you can find one I recommend the Zeiss Ikon Contina II it's a challenge but also really fun
Despite its issues, the pictures turned out really good.
you should try to shoot with the yashica electro 35 gt next!

I have two other Voigtländer Vito Series cameras, and they don't seem to share this issue about the sprocket holes.
Would love to find out where you got that range finder!
eBay!
How you know when its film is over? Mine the lever always turn easily even when I think I’ve used all the 36 exposures...

Hi Eduardo, fun is really what it's all about. Where did you pick up the rangefinder attachment? I'm looking for one for my Bessa I
Very easy shoot and wind...
A nice little camera...
Very unobtrusive and compact
If you have one in excellent condition
Collect it_____and use it !
what application you use to measure the light ? Awesome video 👌😎

Que tal es la Ricoh kr 5? Saludos del norte de chile.
Hey there , great video and I love how the films turned out. Also, I love your video concept! It allows viewers like us to follow you on the process of shooting. However I notice that you are using something like an light meter app before shooting some shots. Would you like to share what app is that?
-Nick from Singapore :)
Hi! I found this app: Lumu Light Meter
que bonita ciudad, donde es?
can you show us how to set it and the meaning of iso and all that?
Hi Ed, how did you fix the rangefinder?
I just bought one from Ebay and the measurement is out.
Thanks
If they said the measurement is correct, send it back. Do not support eBay scammers.
Hello,
I have the same camera, what app are you using for exposure, etc? Is there an app for distances as well maybe?
i got one of those from my grandma. mine has a rangefinder but it seems to be misaligned. at something like 15 meters it gives me 3 meters distance. any idea for a fix?
Try the Leica R3
I have voigtländer vitoret. But the problem is how to good focusing?😭
where can i find such a rangefinder? the only ones i found are not for photogrpahy
What light meter app are you using in this video?. Looks like it might actually be worth looking at
have you used an old 1930s kodak folder or brownie?
I have never tried a Brownie nor a Kodak folder, but THAT is limitation! Haha. Sounds like a challenge.
I've heard that agfa vista is not produced anymore. Very sad if this would come true. The best film for the money
FameOverDemise heard that too. One of my favourite films. Love the colours.
where can I find online the camera film rolls? thanks
Hey Ed!!! What lightmeter app do you use? I know you recently just mentioned it in one of your videos, I just can’t seem to find said video..... thanksss
It’s ASLightmeter

@@edpavez ok muchas gracias!! 🙏
What app are you using on your phone and what is it for?
any chance to use the hyperfocal on this camera?
seaford? Lewes?
Where did you buy the rangefinder?
I always wondered how comes those engineers, chemists and resarchers at Fuji invest millions in resarch and production if a random guy will no matter what know it better and instead of exposing at 200 ISO will do it at 100.
What app do you use for the light metering?
ASLightMeter
Wonderful shots at 11:00.....is that a Leica? 😂😂😂
Where did you get the film?
Your rangefinder lost its calibration knob actually.
that camera is quite cheap on ebay
Dear Eduardo, great Episode as usual. You're such a geek Eduardo, it would be so much easier to practice using feets, but nooo, you had to buy some gadget to overcome your measuring shortcomings, hahaha. By the way, I really like your videos, cheers!
Why don't you just zone focus?
Because I don't know how much a feet is, so there's no way I can zone focus. The other option would be shooting at f/16 all the time in order to have everything in focus, but it looks pretty bad to my eye... and in cloudy UK winter, shooting at f/16 with 100 ASA is not an option.
EduardoPavezGoye Fair points, can't argue much with that. Feet are pretty easy to convert into meters though as 1 foot equals roundabout 30cm.
Yes, one meter is ABOUT 3 feet.
The problem is since it’s a 50mm f/2.8 the background compression does not leave much room for mistakes if you shoot up close. That’s why I needed a rangefinder. ;)

Hello! Which light-meter do you use on your iPhone?
obligatory first
Cancel that question. Sorry should have watched the whole video first. Don't grow old you wont like it:
Holy shit
This was my very first film camera, I didn't even know how to expose properly back then
And I loved it only as much as I hated it, it was a really weird relationship
Still got it though
Though this is what I did with it www.deviantart.com/art/C-41-649639936
And it's funny since just yesterday I was playing around with it, thinking I should clean it up and put a roll through it to see what it's really capable of since I now actually know how to take pictures
Always love your reviews, keep it up!
Can you please go back to somebody following you around with the camera instead of the point of camera go pro perspective. I always found it really interesting and a bit inspiring to see someone else do streetphotography. And in my opinion the point of camera perspective kinda sucks for a whole video.
What light exposure app do u use in this video?
