Salam akhi - as you have advised, I am trying to get through your videos and also the books on the link you sent. jzk Can you give me more info, ideally a pdf/book, that explains the sheikhs position and evidences for the preservation of the Quran He mentioned, but only briefly, some interesting things pertaining to that in this video
Wa alaikum as-salaam Akhi We had a Halaqah yesterday and I did ask, the material isnt compiled in one book by the Professor yet, however there are narrations on this, moreover, one of the students brought my attention to these works which may be of interest, I am not familiar with the author myself (I am the host) archive.org/details/history-quranic-text-azami-2nd archive.org/details/TheHistoryOfTheQuranicTextFromRevelationToCompilationDr.M.M.AlAzami I will extract the discussion shortly and send the link when it is on youtube, I hope it is helpful
Salaam, I am spinning off the reply to your question from the Professor in a separate video, it will be live mid day tomorrow UK time on this link: ruclips.net/video/62uoHvDYZu8/видео.html Inshallah
Is the professor saying that ʿIlm al-Kalām began with the early scholars through their interactions with the rulers (caliphs)? I learned from HT that this (pseudo-)science emerged from the interaction between Muslim scholars and the philosophy of other nations to defend Islam and demonstrate its superiority, as in لِيُظْهِرَهُ عَلَى الدِّينِ كُلِّهِ, you know
Ilm al-Kalam is in the Qur'an, the muslims adopted istalahaat from others as they have already coined the terms. Even using sugra, kubra and nateeja is found in the hadith.
Prof that is very simplistic - even the call to return to the categorical of the Quran is itself a problem. Human language is forever ambiguous its always defined thru human experience - filters !! and people differ even in the qat'i or fundamental. at least its interpretation. The devil is in the details , so long as people dissect and dive in away from the surface then problems must arise. Thats the meaning of the verse - your Lord will decide between what you differ in- and that people will never cease differing as the Quran says.
The Professor has elaborated at some length in other videos on Usool al Fiqh and does go into some detail, if the video didnt go into sufficient detail, we would love to have a direct diaologue on this, perhaps we can glean more information. We do weekly Tafseer classes and about 2 hours in we open up for Q and A, we encourage people to discuss on the mic. They are at 1pm Sundays UK time, so if you join at say 3pm, you can discuss directly.
Asrar Rashid is one of the best scholars of our time. May Allah bless him. ❤

I asked Allah alone, I do not do dua to or through anyone except Allah.
