- A shooting 'em up game where you based on the events of the Star Wars movie Return of the Jedi. Youe main goal is to destroy the death star before it finishes its construction. Before doing so, you start outside the perimeter of the death star where you have to combat different enemy vessels and avoiding the death ray while waiting for an opportunity to slip through the one of the random openings in the energy field transported to battle death star. Once you reach death star, you must avoid getting zap by one of its shooters and reduce structure by up to the point you hit the core. Once you destroy death star, you avoid collision with the death star debris. Once death star is destroyed, the game is restarted all the way back to the beginning with increased difficulty with faster enemies, faster death star until all lives are gone. You can adjust the difficulty before the start of the game.
Note: This game starts out easy then it gets really hard. Toward the end, it looks like kill screen so I lost all lives by the death star.

The audio is very interesting here as the pitches of the sound effects align with the occasional melodic motif, it all harmonizes to the same key

It just occurred to me that you technically get to play as Lando in this game.
Watching this video with headphones and the volume up is an absolute trip and I highly recommend

They did some really impressive stuff given the limitations of the system. The audio is great.
Never knew this game existed. I was very much into games then, and had Empire Strikes Back, but didn't come across this game.

This is similar to the Atari 400/800 version, except the Death Star here is a lot less detailed.
Spetacular
The 5200 version is a better game but I have to say that I've always liked the way that the pieces of the Death Star float into their actual location on the 2600 version as opposed to the 5200 version where all of the pieces float only to the top and then just magically appear wherever needed.
Always like to hit the shuttle passing through 😅
The thing i hated about these atari games,…. It felt like you could never beat the game…. It just kept getting more difficult and faster until the computer eventually won
It's all about the high score, that's why most are only fun with someone to play with so you can try to beat eachothers high scores
