He’s managed to portray the absolute terror of domestic violence and the effects of generational violence by a amazing piece of art. I know many victims of it who absolutely appreciate this. He has so many styles of art and theater , try some fun like Losing It or The Hunger . He has a proper 🐇 hole going back 12-15 years ☮️
He's the leader in Bardcore right now. This young man was a traveler, telling stories with his stringed instrument in pubs and taverns for drinks, room and board in his previous life. You cannot convince me otherwise.
There are people having a first reaction to Beethoven today; they're not 200 years late. People discovering jazz and big band music from the 1920s. Young folks getting excited for the first time about Elvis and the Beatles and the Beach Boys and Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd. Rappers discovering Queen and Journey and U2 and Depeche Mode; pop fans discovering Metallica and AC/DC; classic rock and heavy metal fans discovering Grandmaster Flash, Eminem and Ren. All enriched by something new to them that they didnt know about before. You're good. 😂
Great reaction! AND an One Piece shirt? Yeah, subbed :D Fun BTS tidbit: The "hospital" is actually a bikeshed they emptied, the bed in there was the wrong size ... it was a kid's bed and they couldn't get a new one on time so had to wing it with putting stuff under it 😅
Imagine the old school ren fans hearing violets tale for the first time. It was released in 2019. Then this comes out in 2022 taking you back to 2005, 14 years before the timeline of Jenny and Screech. Heads had to have blown.
To make this a little more powerful, he apparently released the first two songs two full years before he finished it with Violet's Tale. In the meantime he released other aspects of the story on social media, like the fact that Screech's friend wasn't home because he was with Screech's girlfriend. As a writer and painter, I can tell you that this is a sign of him being an author as much as he is a musician. When a story sticks with you like that, and you start to imagine the details of the characters you've created, it's indicative of a real creative genius who feels compelled to create stories. And like a painter, he couldn't stop painting the canvas until it really felt complete to him. We all already understand that Ren is a special kind of artist, with so many layers it's insane, but the fact that he puts so much into what he creates makes him truly special and I'm certain we're going to see a MASSIVE amount of creative work from him for decades to come. I can't wait to see it.
Jennys tale was a one off it was released in 2015 on Love Music album.. then in 2019 he put out an album that was jennys tale and screech's tale along with intros and interludes and outro... then in 2022 he put out violets tale
As a good story teller he edited out anything that didn’t drive the story. We don’t need to hear why Patrick wasn’t home, or why his girlfriend was too busy to see him.
Nobody is like Ren. It's astonishing we all haven't heard of him before this year - which is most of us. The more I watched the more I was shocked. BTW...he plays electric, classical, and bass guitars....as well as piano. He raps, sings, writes, acts, does his own beats, etc., to all his songs. He continues to do live performances for the video, done in single takes on a single camera. Who else does all that?
Nice job getting the twist! Few other things most people don’t see is Jenny walked the streets 1000 times so she was most likely a sex worker and many say that Patrick not answering the door and his girlfriend not answering the phone was a hint that they were sleeping together. I actually think Ren said that in an interview but could be wrong. 🔥 reaction. Just Sub’d. You can’t go wrong listening to anything by Ren. He does some awesome collaborations too! Ren and Chinchilla or Sam Tompkins are top notch.
i don't think that information is from an interview, i think it comes from instagram stories and stuff that came out to promote and add another layer to the tales.
The world shortest, and by far best, trilogy known to man. Priceless reaction! Absolutely loved experience it through your eyes. Thank you! 🖤 xoxo From STHLM, Sweden
Another great reaction! Ren really is the best storyteller of our time in my eyes! Well he’s my favourite artist of all time and I think he’s the best everything of our time 😂 he really is a multifaceted diamond! 🖤
Awesome reaction guys.. I was never one to watch reaction videos until I discovered Ren and especially when people react to this Tale I can’t help but watch with that plot twist in the end.
Thanks for your reaction. Ren is such an amazing multi-talented artist. And the best part is getting to re-experience your own reaction when you watch others react!
Ren read an artical about a boy who killed his sister, having no idea that she was. They had gone into Britain's version of foster care as babies due to the parents being screwed up. It happened in 2005. "London city far from pretty, 2 0 0 5."
If you want to feel more sad by Ren, try "Suic!de" by him. And if you want something more fun: "Losing it", if you would like to see his Rap Skills "Hunger" is the way to go, for some Reggae "Humble" and for some kind of Michael Jackson "Fire"... ohh, and if you like the Beasty Boys "What you want" is the way to go. The Ren Rabbit hole is a deep and diverse one.
Obviously "Hi Ren" is missing. But good suggestions! For conscious rap I'd do Money Game 1&1, and also his husking band, The Big Push, with "I Shot The Sheriff/Road to Zion / Hiphop" is insane too. And the stuff with Chinchilla, "How To Be Me" or "Chalk Outlines" are great too. Both one shot and live..
I subbed after your first Ren reaction… and as promised, I am HERE for this. 🙋🏻♀️ It’s another gut wrenching masterpiece by a once in a generation artist. 🔥
Ren is a total genius from my county ,even better he is not mainstream because of his content . You have so much more to watch , he is a fantastic busker ,rapper and wordsmith. You must do Hi Ren next
Great reaction, welcome to the RENaissance (that’s my favourite title for the wave of Ren taking over peoples lives and opening their eyes to what musical art is 😂😬)
It's scary to see how many reactors seem to have a really personal connection to these stories of domestic violence. In therapy groups in the past I realized that many, many people have suffered from either physical, emotional or sexual abuse in their lives. It's uncanny how Ren's work is able to touch so many disparate people, and show that we are all the same inside.
Great reaction guys. So glad that you got every twist in the tale. I appreciate your faces when Ren talked about Violets father sexually abusing her at night and then you had the same disgust when you heard that Stevie was doing it to her as well. As an ex LEO I appreciate Ren mention about the officer shaken.
great reaction guys and the mr ren gill rabbit hole is deep ,hes been rappin singing for 10yrs ,and his band that do live street gigs called the big push, as you said you not started long so got alot of bands to react to yet enjoy the journey guys good luck from the uk ,
Really enjoyed this reaction, guys! At first I was a little concerned when there was some lowkey laughter during the mugging in the first song - but as someone has filmed reactions myself, I definitely understand how it's easy forget that the reactor/s are watching the video for the first time and it can take a few minutes to gather the vibe of the video/appreciate what's going on. And you guys definitely followed the story/appreciated the themes. Definitely did take a turn in Violet's Song, didn't it? Ren is like a one-man musical, it's mad. He really could play all the characters and compose all the songs. He seems like such a nice guy but he's straight up terrifying when playing 'Stevie'. The 'that's the sound of his fists as they fall like a crashing pilot' is such a stellar lyric. 'Stacking jars like pickled bricks'. So good! I feel like I'm not hearing that kind of lyricism anywhere but Ren.
Thank you for this great reaction. I'm a 50ish male Brit who is currently balling his eyes out, Please keep that to yourselves, what an absolutely amazing piece of writing and performance. Thank you for your, brilliantly played parts in this great video.
One of the best reactions to this trilogy I've seen. If this was your intro to Ren, you must do Hi Ren next. I'm subbing to watch you guys become part of the Renverse
17.42 is when body language changes for both of you; Ren's performance is captivating, especially at this point. Favourite reactions, 3) goose bumps/chills 2) wow...... I did not expect that.1) unedited dumb-foundedness; not saying anything can b If you are rockers, he was a member of The Big Push, try War pigs mash-up, Wade in the water. (purposely left unfinished.)
Jennys tale was a one off it was released in 2015 on Love Music album.. then in 2019 he added on to it and put out an album that was jennys tale and screech's tale along with intros and interludes and outro... then in 2022 he put out the prequel, violets tale
There was nearly a 2yr gap between the tales and Violets tale which tied it all together. So many layers when you discover Jenny is 14 too the wearing of high heels makes you wonder what her life was like.
this is pretty much like a Quentin Tarantino movie.. think of Pulp Fiction or Reservoir Dogs... with the twists, the scenes being scrambled and jumping back and forth in time... the extreme violence, the social commentary, the brilliant imagery and wordplay... and the darkness allround. Ren has stated in interviews that he would like to pitch a show to Netflix that would be something like a black mirror with music... this is pretty much the blueprint of how an episode would look like... if they ever make that show, I'll be watching it
I loved your reaction ! I love watching the end part it gets most reactors! Dear god , from Ren , his music is so mixed you never know what you are getting ,power is another great one too !
Don’t listen to the haters you’re not Late you’re right on time and who cares if you wanna watch Ren more than any other artist it’s because he’s better than most artists don’t listen to the haters
Ren call this style Bardcore (like the bard Jaskier in The Witcher but in modern times) and here's the origin story of the trilogy 🤩😁🤯 This wasn't originally a trilogy story. Ren read in the paper one day with a small article about a 14 yr old boy killing a young prostitute with a knife in an attempted robbery. Knife crime had been skyrocketing in London at this time. Later that same evening the boy had been shot and killed by the police . It disturbed him, so he set out to write a commentary not just on senseless violence, but on how desensitized we've become to it. The words he ends both Jenny and Screech's Tales with is "It's such a Shame" we say these words all to often and just move on, without a second thought. The the lead inspector at the scene said " So Young, It's such a shame". Violets Tale was written over 2 years later adding yet another layer of commentary by Ren. He wanted us to consider not only generational violence but to make us look at all angles of society that we turn a blind eye to. Both characters are born out of violence on that cruel night and then both killed with brutal violence in the same night 14yrs later. Also, his lyrics have even more meaning when you read in between the lines. For example he doesn't say what Jenny was doing or why she wanted to escape from this place & life, or why Screech thought she was older saying at Patrick's door "I left this lady lying on the floor". Could it be the way she's dressed & her heavy makeup? Also why is a 14yr old girl out so late at night alone in a sketchy area wearing high heels & that "she's walked it a thousand times before" everything points to Jenny being an underage prostitute, showing us what Ren writes has reason & makes us think. There's no fat on the bone, every word is weighed & has meaning. Also, how can both these siblings be so cursed? Jenny has the same traits as her mother Violet, quiet, voiceless, and timid. Where as Screech mirrors his father Stevie in every way, Loud, obnoxious, and easily prone & provoked into violence. They didn't know one another and had never met their biological parents. What made these kids so much like their parents? Was it simply Nature, inherited traits due to their genetic make-up OR Nurture, being brought up in the broken governmental system filled with, mistreated & in many cases, abused children? He organically takes us on this journey, leaving us to think shouldn't we be doing better job in this so called "advanced, wealthy, 1st world society. Love your channel boyz, Cheers 🥂
It's actually interesting not many people catch it but at the end of screeches tale he says our story it ends right at the start poor Jenny and Screech lying two streets apart. There is also back stories that go with this song apparently Jenny was a streetwalker which makes the story of Jenny's children even more sad and the reason that Patrick was not home was because he was at screeches girlfriend's house...
Ha, it's so satisfying when you guys look at each other whenever the penny drops! "I'll spare you with the things he did" - 16:17 "Two twins are lying side by side" - 20:52
So, whaddya want? More on an emotional line? Try "Chalk Outlines" live with Chinchilla. Save "Su*c*de" for a a bit. Upbeat? "Power" is just pure joy. Or "Losing It". Want just plain mind blown? Do the official video for "Animal Flow". (Then do the acoustic version). Dare y'all to find a song that isn't spicy/tasty. Blessings.
Welcome to The World of Ren!! I love your reaction to Jenny and Screech, i cant wait to watch your other reactions now. Great job guys, happy to be a new sub!

Ren tells the stories and the filming of the stories are all done so well i found myself looking for the bodies laying on the ground. The saddest thing about this is the fact each of these things are happening in every country at this very moment and the cycle continues
I loved ur reaction. The shock at the end. Thank you for getting it at the end. Some dont. Definitely subscribing after this!! Looking forward for more from u
He shows how mental issues and tendencies can be genetical...as Screech takes his fathers traits,...as Jenny shares her mother's silentness...it's deep af
Not only genetic. As orphans, Jenny and Screech would have been taken into an underfunded and under supported child services system...not a great start to any child's life. Environment plays a large part in a persons development. How much is Nature, and how much Nurture?
Great reaction as always! I'm so happy you guys started to really get into Ren. I think you guys will dig Money Game parts 1 and 2 and part 3 comes out next month. All 3 of these were live performances and one take videos. You can hear the accustics in all of them. He's such a genius and every song is so different from the last! You guys gotta check out his songs with Chinchilla and his band The Big Push and then Chinchilla by herself. Chinchilla's songs you should check out are Fingers Live for Hunger TV, Little Girl Gone Official Video and then Little Girl Gone (Requiem) Live. You'll find out that both Ren and Chinchilla will do a recording recorded song then a live version that's different and both are amazing versions, I would compare it to the reimagined and revamped songs from Falling In a Reverse. These tales are considered Bard-Core which is like telling story with music over medieval sounding music. I've seen comments comparing it to The Witcher. Can't wait to see more reactions from you guys!
Hahahaha you mentioned you were 10 months behind on this reaction. That would be in relation to Violet's Tale. The original Jenny and Screech was a few years prior to that. Nice reaction. Oh while it is not said, Patrick was probably with Screech's girl and that is why neither answered when he knocked and called. Another note, the fact that Jenny was out late, walking the streets the same over 1000 times and in high heel shoes, probably indicates she was hooking or something similar. And both kids were 14 years old.
I was completely taken back by his amazing portrayal of the generational curse that comes with tragic lives. Violet is abused as a child, finds an abusive partner who kills her, kids get lost in the system and even without the influence of their parents, they follow the same track. Jenny becomes a street walker trying to survive and escape to a better life. Screech becomes as violent as his father. This kind of situation happens every day. My ex husband grew up in foster homes and juvenile facilities and devolved substance abuse issues and became an abuser. Now, we're divorced, I'm literally crippled after a drunken assault by him, and we're desperately trying to reign in our 15yr old son who has developed anger issues. This shit happens and society doesn't want to see it. Thank you to Ren for putting it in their faces because things never change if you don't acknowledge the problem. ❤

Ren in this video remind me of those people in medieval films who sing you the story as you go like the dude in the witcher
Walking down stairs while playing guitar so beautifully just blows my mind every time

He’s like a modern day Shakespeare. Brilliant. Great reaction. ❤
Great reaction! AND an One Piece shirt? Yeah, subbed :D

...and perhaps, Jenny was walking home from having just "serviced" Richard the cop, hence his near immediate response time

I think this might be one of my favourite Jenny and Screech reactions, and I've seen lots!! 🖤
Thanks for the compliment and thank you for watching!
Welcome to the Ren rabbit hole. It's a fantastic journey. Wonderful reaction. Much love from Germany.
This was by far the best reaction I have seen to this song.
My favourite from Ren by far. If anybody ever asks you what art is, just showed them this.
Ren is so versatile it's a wild rabbit hole.

“You can see it” you sure can! Ren is an extraordinary story teller
Fun fact - when Screech's Tale was released in 2019, the Big Ben clock wasn't working ("...clocked out like Big Ben")

Love your channel boyz, Cheers 🥂
music has no time😊 never gets old
REN supports all causes loved seeing you men brilliant reaction cause as men this is hard read ❤
Once we freaking realized it that is just plain incredible!
I rewatched that last part a couple of times. LOL Ya'll realized it at the same time. Epic!
Glad you enjoyed it that for sure was a twist we were not expecting!
Chinchilla live version of fingers. Is a must react. She is a unicorn like Ren.
Ha, it's so satisfying when you guys look at each other whenever the penny drops!
"I'll spare you with the things he did" - 16:17
"Two twins are lying side by side" - 20:52
Thank you! Stuff hits different for sure. We really enjoyed this one
Patrick was giving his girl that side Penicillin
Great reaction, so much emotion, lots more to come 👍🙏🐊❤️🦉
So, whaddya want? More on an emotional line? Try "Chalk Outlines" live with Chinchilla. Save "Su*c*de" for a a bit.
Upbeat? "Power" is just pure joy. Or "Losing It".
Want just plain mind blown? Do the official video for "Animal Flow". (Then do the acoustic version).
Dare y'all to find a song that isn't spicy/tasty.
Blessings.
You could be 10 years behind and this song would still be relevant

You guys are great. Loved this reaction and your breakdown.
Glad you enjoyed it
OMGoodness... Unreal!!! WTHeck actually!?!?!?!? Wow!!!
Ren tells the stories and the filming of the stories are all done so well i found myself looking for the bodies laying on the ground. The saddest thing about this is the fact each of these things are happening in every country at this very moment and the cycle continues
Great reaction guys!! I am riding the wave with y’all !!!!
I loved ur reaction. The shock at the end. Thank you for getting it at the end. Some dont. Definitely subscribing after this!! Looking forward for more from u
Thanks for subbing!
I hope people are reacting to this in a hundred years time and getting the same wake up call. Masterpiece
Good reaction fellas. It's good to see how it started out light-hearted, then you both figured out what this was all about.
It just blows your mind!
@@curmudgeon1933 Or one of them would have been placed with Stevie or Violet's parents.
You just entered the Ren wormhole. Be advised, you may never find your way out. Enjoy 👍
