    I have similar measurements to you and I agree, the named block is great! Made the reeta and love it. Also Highly recommend the kielo wrap dress, looks insane on a big hip to waist ratio as well as the tynni trousers, two butt darts curved waist facing!

    Thank you for a very informative review. I have just bought the pattern and printed it off. Nice to know that I may have some issues but hopefully I will sort them because of your help. x

    I always loved watching you as you are so down to earth and never judgmental of other people and the way that they do things sewing. Dress looks great on you and I will continue to watch you

      Unfortunately I’m not in a place where I can come back yet. I am having a few medical issues, but also working full time and doing my masters. I really want to make video again though.

    Your dress looks great! And like you said, you can't see the slightly wonky stitching on the drawstring casing :)

    Forgot to say I used coloured cord, which is quite silky for the tie and works well. I’ve tied a knot in the two ends to finish it off. Other ideas would be piping cord if it suited the fabric.

    Love your review. The dress is beautiful. I love that you are so open and show us the inside of the garment as well. Thank you for all the tips.

    Loved the dress on you.The fabric really falls beautifully.I always make the casing and drawstring out of the main fabric. You could mark where the casing is to go with large tacking stitches. I'd ,definitely,make this again as it looks fab on you.

      Oh I didn't even think about making the casing out of the fabric too. Thats a good idea, i will bare that in mind. Thanks 😁

    Hi Kealy, brilliant review, and as you know.. I adore your dress 👌💟. I made the Monty shirt and it had the same idea for the facings sewn into the collar and it confuses me too 😏. Like you say, it's great to learn new ways of doing things isn't it. You did a great job with it and it looks so lovely on....a real winner 👍💕😁😘

    A great review Kealy. I have made it twice as absolutely love the style. I had problems at no 9;stage. I have an absolute blind spot as have got stuck here on my third version. I can’t believe I’ve forgotten how I did it. I too had problems inserting the collar as it’s not long enough but I have read reviews where people lengthen it. I made my first in Viscose and second in cotton sateen which looks really smart but is very comfortable. It doesn’t make too much bulk either. The third is in crepe and I’ve made it even longer. I love the length. Some tips I’d give for the ribbon casing is do some tailor tacks on that line to keep it straight., quite a few then draw a line with removable pen just before you attach it. Mine is sitting in a box waiting to be finished due to my mental block! I think I need to sit and figure it out! 🤗😆

    😄I'm the same with hemming! I've only made one Named pattern which was a tshirt, but due to them being sized for taller people I rule them out, but now you've got me reconsidering them as we are a similar size. Great detailed review!

    It looks lovely on you. I made the Ninni culottes and had problems understanding the directions and the diagrams did not help me. It was for the pockets, so I winged it.

    I love detailed reviews! Your dress is so pretty and flattering! I haven't done that kind of casing before. I think I would draw a line exactly where to stitch one edge of the tape, or more likely I would fold, press, and stitch the garment to make a self casing. Of course then I would have to figure out the buttonhole placement and make those before the final stitching of the casing. Tricky stuff! Anyway, I'm sure you'll experiment with various techniques and let us know how it goes! 💜

    I really appreciate the detailed review of this pattern. It is so helpful. I'm new to garment sewing and have downloaded a few patterns from two or three different companies. How do you know what size pattern block they draft to? I'm not even sure if I'm asking the question correctly! I'm only 5' 3 " and while I don't mind shortening a bit, 6" would be such a challenge. I assume one can't just remove 6" from one place? I was able to get one pattern top to fit after fiddling around with bust darts and decided (like you) to keep that one as a basic pattern moving forward.

    • @VoiceofaCreative
      @VoiceofaCreative  4 года назад

      You don't know, you can only go by the measurements they list. Sometimes in the instructions they say they height its drafted for, not all patterns do this. I only took 6 inches off the length because I wanted to shorten the pattern to be just below my knee. Other wise I would have just taken 3 inches. Often patterns feature shorten and lengthen lines which is where you can shorten it, again not all pattern companies do that. Its all according why you are shortening it, if its just on the skirt sometimes you can just take off the bottom. Its quite tricky to learn everything, I would just take it one pattern at a time. 😁

      Thank you for your prompt response. I am keeping a sort of sewing journal so I can keep track of patterns that work well for me or little things that I have to tweak. Please keep the great content coming ! I'm a subscriber!❤️

    I love this type of in depth tutorial 💜 Also if you don’t like hemming could you not use a hemming foot? I use one and the hem is done soo quick

      Its more that I don't take my time and do it carefully. I will look into a hemming foot though. Thanks for watching 😁

    I love your enthusiasm. I have a question about the tie did you just use ribbon or did you attach it to some elastic on the inside?

    • @VoiceofaCreative
      @VoiceofaCreative  4 года назад

      The dress has a draw string, you sew a channel on the inside and thread the tie through, then pull them to gather it in.
