Been testing these for a couple months and they're KILLER. The 1990s sound soooo wide and open and the mids feel so true. It really does have the midrange detail I'm used to in my ATCs
Great review. absolutely looking forward to your comparison with the Neumann NDH30 and Sennheiser HD490. I have the HD490 which I really like a LOT. years ago I had the original DT1990 but ear fatigue was inevitable with such hyped higher frequencies. Also owned the Neumann NDH30 for a year, but I felt my mixes lacked a bit of spark. those headphones are too mid frequencies 'oriented' for my taste. i'm able to produce way better mixes with the Sennheisers, but would really like to try these new DT1990 II. looking forward to your 'roundup comparison'!
I love mine!!! I used them everyday like I use my phone. so much that they’re falling apart but the sound quality is still there. it’s time to upgrade with these.
Absolutely love and still rocking the original DT 1770's as the best pair of headphones ive personally heard and owned but cant say I also haven't been curious about Audeze LCD-X's for years as well
I'm leaning towards the Focal Lensys to buy in the next few days. I own the DT 770 Pro 250ohm and Sennheiser HD 650 Pro at the moment. If I don't like the Focals I'll give the 1770's a shot. Need some nice closed backs for my portable setup when I travel.
Hello hello! 😄 Stupid question, is the headset also suitable for gaming? So a good mix of bass and clear sound? I would be very happy about an answer. Greetings from Germany!
Reid, my home studio it’s so out of balance so my mixes are not translating very well outside the studio. I own the 770 pro 80ohms but I can’t mix with them. I feel like the stereo image is missing. Do you think the 1990 mk2 are suitable for mixing? Btw would you use them with the sonarworks eq profile? I
I’m planning a mega roundup of open back headphones that will include DT 1990 Pro MKii, NDH 30, HD490 Pro, and Sony MDR MV1 to explain my favorite and why 🤘
@@ReidStefanMusic That's a very cool idea. I know that they are all really good. I'm just curious about how different they are from each other. You made a very interesting comment on the video saying "They sound like my monitors"...this is a good reference to compare as well, which one of the open backs gives that feel the best. Can't wait!
what are the best studio headphones for people on a budget? for me, I'd say the Samson SR850's are really good for the price, but what do you think, Reid?
How comfortable is the 1990 MKII? I have a DT 880 pro which sounds amazing, but it's very uncomfortable even after 30 minutes. The metal headband is incredibly tight unfortunately so I want to change it to this one, but I would like to put it on first before buying it.
Really? The contact pressure of the DT880pro is 3.5N and that of the 1990pro is 6.0N+-0,5N(watch out the data on their website). I myself have the DT880 Edition with just 2.8N and could only imagine a 1990 as an edition with a contact pressure of an Amiron Home of 4.0N. Anything above that sounds painful to me.
everybody in the music industry has headphones from beyerdynamics, that one red audio interface (everybody knows what I’m talking about) and a shure sm7b.😂
You don’t actually mix with these do you? The frequency response of Beyers is anything but flat. Exaggerated lows, piercing highs. A flat headphone like the HD 600/650/6XX would be a much better choice for mixing.
I agree the first generation wasn’t very flat. I tried them but didn’t buy Gen 1. This new 2nd generation is a big improvement in frequency response, especially in the highs
Common misconception is that you “need” a flat response or that a flat response is “optimal”. It’s actually really not, headphones with a response close to the harman curve would actually be “optimal” for mixing. There’s been more and more talk about that recently thankfully :D
Okay, Beyers aren't "Flat" but holy shit, HD 600 line is not flat either. They are really mid forward, bass lacking as well. No soundstage either, worth mentioning. This is coming from someone who has mained either an HD600 or HD660s for the past 5 years.
@@bhtv-1 Sonarworks measures a lot of headphones and stated that the HD 600 line are the flattest they’ve ever measured. I’m curious though, what do you use now and why did you switch?
@@ReidStefanMusic ah - good to hear. We have sonorworks for that to some degree if you are willing to deal with the bitchy app. The headphones actually hurt my ears though. The shape, the pressure. Any improvements there ? (This wasn’t an issue for most). I’m not replacing my Neumann NDH 20 anytime soon though which sound amazing - save conduction up the cable which is a big issue.
Instead of doing a normal job, they again just shoved an absorber in front of the speaker. It will not only reduce the necessary frequencies, but also eat up small after-sounds.
Perhaps you missed the part in the video where I explained that They changed the entire speaker driver system, not a “thicker absorber” as you’re suggesting
Awesome review, loved watching every second of it, thanks for that and have fun with your new DT 1990 PRO MKII & DT 1770 PRO MKII 🔥
make these available in indonesia

The new 1770 Pro are my favorite closed back headphones. They easily smoke my old ATH M50x
@ReidStefanMusic Nice! I'll keep this in mind. Thanks Reid!
How do you compare this DT 1990 PRO MKII vs the HD 490 pro?
Hello hello! 😄

I would be very happy about an answer.

I don’t play games but these would probably be awesome for gaming

How is the noise cancellation with the leather ear pads, as everyone says?
Greetings John

Listening to that in my original 250 Om DT 1770 Pro.

I have the old DT 990 PRO, would it be worth to upgrade?
Of course. Different tiers. 990 is low-fi although a good one. 1990 is a solid mid-fi.

I’d probably choose DT1770 for gaming because they’re closed back

I’ve never heard of ananda nano but these are extremely good!
@ReidStefanMusic hifiman headphones
Still hesitating with HD650
