I bought this as a competitive gamer and I couldn't be happier. One additional benefit of the open design is that I can hear myself speak... like having natural sidetone. Instead of hearing yourself via the mic with closed headsets with sidetone. It's a relief!
I didn't realize Beyerdynamic did a refresh on their entire lineup of headphones! I just received the Mark II of the 1990 pro and its been surprisingly positive compared to the original in a few ways. Perhaps a comparison video between the new vs old beyers and what to pick for gaming/music?
Had these about 2 weeks now and they've been great for gaming and also all day work use. Nice you have the Creative G8 also - have got one of those connected to my PS5 currently with the 330 Pro also. Another great video Joe - thanks :)
@ I liked how the 330 fit a little more snug on my head compared to how loose the AR5000 is. They both sound amazing. Weird I found the 330 way more comfortable than the 300 pro. The pads were softer and less clamp force.
I was just deciding between Aune AR5000 + ARU1 Dongle DAC cable, Linsoul HarmonicDyne Zeus Elite + ARU1 Dongle DAC cable to upgrade the Corsair Virtuoso Pro (I have a separate microphone but I'm happy to have it) and after seeing this I have another very likely candidate, this MMX 330 Pro. I use them for everything and I would also like to use them with my mobile phone (Vivo X100 Ultra) with the Aune ARU1 DAC Dongle. Can anyone help me? Especially if you know the 3 options. I would really appreciate it.
@@albi_rm The AR5000 actually reminded me of the harmonic dyne zeus elites straight away when I put them on, but i'd give the edge to harmonic dyne zeus elite because of the soundstage on the AR5000 to me sounds "close". Like a little too intimate. They're mid forward, but they sound really good with vocals but lacks sparkle in the treble which can be perceived as having a lack of resolve or resolution.

A wonderfully detailed review of this headset. The Tygr was once on my wishlist but decided not to go Beyerdynamic and have eventually ended up with the AUNE AR5000. Based on your review, I probably won't go for the 330 Pro due to the cup size and depth, as the AR5000 is the only headphone/set that comfortably accommodates my ears. Thank you again, as always for your time, perspectives, and efforts to share this with us all.
Bought the 300 pro based off your previous review. I thought this was a re-upload at first lol. Also, you should maybe show how to connect the headset to a pc via audio interface. It actually takes a bit of a work around to get the mic working. Great review as always!
@ can we see a video on them soon?👀 Fresh Reviews had very good things to say about the Tea Pro’s , so I was looking for your insight as well. You two are my go-to IEM reviewers. Love the content man!
One big thing to mention vs the PC38X is the build quality. The 330 pro just destroys it in that area. The 38X will last fine if you take care of it, don’t get me wrong. But boy does its plastic feel cheap. And they always started to creak and crack on me. And the glue on the headband came apart on multiple pair. The 330 is built like a tank if it’s like any of their other headphones.
Nice review. Completely agree on almost everything you mention about the 330mx. Just got them myself last week. I too was a little "hey my ear is touching the baffle" and i am coming from Steelseries arctis nova pro wireless (with wicked cushions) and Philips Fidelio X2HR. But i can wear these for hours without any fatigue. The clamp force and the ear pads are so nice. Also the sound stage is so much more with these. And this is only from the onboard audio - already on the hunt for a DAC that can give that little extra to sound quality.
@@jasonemanuel9070 Sorry i didn't meant that the philips gave me fatigue. They are also very nice. But between philips and beyer, i like the comfort of they beyer slightly more, but they are very close to each other on that front.

Kinda disappointing this still could be a problem. They should really take a closer look at that design, seems fragile. just my point of view.

Primarily looking to hear directional foot steps audio, noted you said the 330 was better for call of duty but would more base of the 300 not pin point footsteps better ? Thanks again
What's the best wireless gaming headset if i want full range with the deepest possible bass, clarity and wonderful scenery. Long battery life, 24-bit and 96k? They have to be closed.
Great review as always But I have one question for you. I want to buy new headphones for gaming and music. I usually play Apex Legends, some casual games, and story games. I'm stuck between these three headphones: the new 330 Pro, the 300 Pro closed-back version, and the VZR Model One. What do you think? Which one would you recommend?
Hello! So two of those are closed backs, and have a lot more bass. If you want sound isolation, then both models are great. The 300 Pro has a better mic, and still sounds excellent for mixed use of gaming and music. The Model One has incredible imaging performance, but lacks in music performance without some more aggressive EQ. Of the three, if you can go with an open back, the 330 Pro is a wonderful jack of all trades headset that responds well to EQ.
I bought the MMX 330 Pro and SoundBlaster GC7 based on your recommendations. I don't know anything about how to EQ. Can you provide that information so I can optimize this setup? Thanks.
Yup! I got them recently, but need more time with them. Need to work on finishing the Creative G8 and Astro A50 Gen 5 vid first, then will cover the buds.

hi maestro of sound, I hope you're doing well! I really value your expertise and detailed reviews, and I wanted to ask if you might consider reviewing the Beyerdynamic Amiron headphones in one of your upcoming tests. I’m particularly interested in seeing how they perform in your comparison table and how they stack up against other models in terms of sound quality, comfort, and build. Additionally, it would be great if you could evaluate them specifically for gaming, especially for titles like Hunt: Showdown and Escape from Tarkov. The Amiron is often described as an excellent all-rounder with warm, precise sound, and it would be fascinating to see if these impressions hold up in your comprehensive testing. Thanks in advance if you’re able to include them in an upcoming review-I'm sure your feedback would be very helpful for many readers. Best regards, Max
A bit late to the party, but whats your thoughts on this vs the Corsair Virtuoso Pro? I could live with the MIC of the Virtuose but am curious regarding differences in sound quality and comfort. I assume the 330 Pro have better sound quality but is it by much?
Hello all, I just purchased these after your amazing review. I was wondering if there is an EQ out there for this headset yet or would i have to EQ it myself? I am kind of a noob when it comes to EQs.
Every video you keep surprising me with your professional reviews and for sure your personal opinions that I do take by for sure. I'm looking for a headset within the price range of Epos H6 Pro Open/Closed and lower, which headset would you recommend for me in that price range for mixed usage and mixed gaming SP/MP games? If your answer is the H6 Pros, would you recommend the open back even if i have a somewhat noisy room?
I am 330pro owner and love the Sound. But my problem is also the low depth of the Earpads. I will try the Velour Elite Pads from Dekoni. Problem is that they are made for closed Headphones. We will see.
My current ps5 pro setup: Pc38x + soundblaster x g6 Would any of these options be a decent upgrade or it would be more a sidegrade 1) Audeze Maxwell 2 mmx 330 pro + G8 ( is G8 worth it over G6?) Thx
How much of your surroundings (like cars, people talking around you and so on) can you hear in the 330Pro compared to the PC38X? Since the 330Pro look more closed back because of the smaller holes
I tried these out on Xbox Series X and I haven't been able to find anything that can complete with the Turtle Beach Stealth Pro when it comes to knowing exactly where enemies are and footsteps. I really like the openness and microphone is great but I don't find them as competitive as the Stealths. When playing COD I feel like I have to really concentrate more to hear the footsteps. I've played around with Atmos, Performance mode on and off, Treyarch mix, headphone mix.
Model one is more comfortable for sure and has a ton of bass, which some people love. These sound much more neutral, but have a more sensitive mic and have been a little more effective for me in FPS without any form of EQ.
@GadgetryTech thank you! I hope you see this but I was wondering what wired headset you recommend for shooters. I'm currently using the Steelseries Arctis Nova pro WIRED. I'm planning on still using the Gamedac and sonar.
These or AR5000 for gaming/music hybrid use? Mic isn't required for me. Music is more EDM focused and I tend to play shooters and single player RPGs! I own the PC38X and am seeking an upgrade if one exists!
I think the AR5000 is more well rounded for music use! This fills in the mids more prominently though, so some vocals will cut through the mix much more forward than the AR5000 does. I lean towards the MMX 330 Pro for gaming, but both are fantastic in both with some flexible EQ options.
@@GadgetryTech I'd 100% agree with this - I have both the Beyer and the Aune and would choose the Aune for Music but the Beyer (just) for gaming. The Aune's are still great for the FPS gaming I've tried though so for me are probably the best all rounder of the two especially as you don't need a mic.
@GadgetryTech Hello. A bit offtopic but after seeing a clip from you with the review of the Epos H6pro, I bought a pair ( open version) and was wondering if you have some EQ profile for them. Stock I find the sound to be kind of muddy. Using a Fiio e10K dac.
Not having a detachable mic is the only thing that concerns me especially reading so many reviews on Amazon about the mic getting loose and not staying in place and they have had this issue with all their goose neck mic models which is crazy for a 300$ headset, I just don’t get why they are so stubborn with this model of mic at beyerdynamic.
Wireless nova pro wireless audeze maxwell I've regret buying them i haven't used them for 8 months they been sitting in my closet there a joke for gaming there too too too heavy for every day usage especially if you play 6 to 8 hours every every day and there not comfy there too bulky stay safe and happy gaming to all
Get some Dekoni Suede (normal ones) for nearly all open back beyers and you add a little punch, less siblance and your ears are farther away (and those hold their shape much longer). I dont know exactly, if it has the same influence on these, but I tried it with 880s, my friend with 990s and I am currently waiting for the 1990 mk2.
any chance to get a review for the SteelSeries Arctis Gamebuds please ?! im curious to know if we get the same support if we choose the xbox version like for other steelseries like the 7x vs 7P!! and how do the compare to other gaming buds like the inzone and pulse... thanks!!!!
How does the MMX 330 compare directly to the PC38X in terms of technical performances with stock tunings? Soundstage, directional imaging, sound-separation, detail/clarity, etc

hello good sir , can you kindly suggest me a choice between Fiio FT1 or aune ar5000 i use an amp and i onlu play single player games open world , rpg that sort of stuff . which one will be better for my use purpose ?
I have in a past a mmx300, great quality sound and mic ,but max volume so low... i had buy a mixamp ,and volume so low too on ps4/ps5.. my arctis pro wireless is more more max volume and happy with them . I hope this new mmx300 pro have a superior max volume 😅..
Haha I give everything a fair shot when I can! The FT3 is still an awesome headphone, don't question it at all! I'll have an FT3 vs FT5 video coming in the pipeline soon, but the FT3 is great.
Fiio ft3 headphones are boring they lack in bass these are much funner in games because they have more bass ive had the closed back returned them kind of too much bass not rely ballance. These open back are the same headphones but a little open hopefully they might be more balanced same drivers but why go wired nova pro wireless are my daily driver and im on console waiting for the ps5 pro got about few days yet cant wait stay safe and happy gaming to all.
That's about as good as it gets, but I would strongly consider the Creative G8 DAC that just came out instead of the Gunnr for PS5. Mainly because it has 10 band EQ support, and I think this will have a big impact on enjoyment for mixed games and even competitive FPS. Anything around this is basically personal preference. The Aune AR5000 + Meze Boom Mic + Creative G8 is another good option to consider.

Please help me, I'm looking for a headset for my PS5. I can't connect a DAC/AMP. I'm considering the MMX330 PRO (connected to the controller), A50 gen 5, and Asus Delta 2. I mainly play single-player and non-competitive games. Simultaneous Bluetooth would be a nice addition. Because I have a large head, I need headphones built like a tank. I've broken 8 headsets in the last 3 years.
ive had the mmx 300 closed back returned them because didn't seem to balanced but they where fun these mmx 330 are basically the same headphones same stellar 45 driver but the mmx 330 are little more open hopefully they wont be so congested like your in a vacuum maybe more balanced but why go wired when you can go wireless nova pro wireless they been my daily driver waiting for the ps5 pro got a few more days cant wait stay safe and happy gaming to all.
I wish these MMX top tier headsets had the detatchable mics and two sets of cables just like the MMX100/150 have. I mean, you spend $300 and you're stuck with a long-ass cable and trrs adapter if you wan't to plug it into your console controller wtf is this

BD us getting way to comfortable with these crazy price hikes. Lets see how that works out with sales numbers.. If they hit the market at $250 maybe a deal. But then theres the new LE's
@@audie-cashstack-uk4881 You have no idea why people bother with an approach that gives them the convenience of being mobile with similarly great sound quality?
Beyer really disappoints me with the comfort options. I'm a tall person & with me naturally having a bigger head/ears I can't ever wear them. Had a DT880 for a short time and immediately sold them. They should offer some bigger/thicker stock pads.
Some of their other models have pads that are a little thicker, but it does affect the sound quality. The DT 700 Pro X for example have big thick pads. It would be nice though, I agree, for a thick pad option for the MMX lineup.
Joe!!! Wow, I’ve never seen this kind of cable set up before, 1 dual 3.5 combo into 1. How does that affect noise pass through for overall sound quality? I’m so used to just the standard 3.5 from headset without multiple connections
I'd stay FAR away. Just like the previous MMX's the mic build is of poor quality, after you adjust it for a little while (mine wasn't even a couple months old) it just flopped down and can no longer stay up close to my mouth. Very very common quality issue. You've been warned people !

I think the AR5000 is more well rounded for music use! This fills in the mids more prominently though, so some vocals will cut through the mix much more forward than the AR5000 does. I lean towards the MMX 330 Pro for gaming, but both are fantastic in both with some flexible EQ options.
@@GadgetryTech Thank you for your reply! I find your videos to be really helpful but also fun to watch!
Will you review SteelSeries Arctis GameBuds?
These VS Maxwell if I am NOT using an amp? Which one to get?
Blows the pc38x out of the water pc38x are boring the mmx 300 or 330 much funner but why go wired when you can go wireless nova pro wireless my daily driver waiting for the ps5 pro got about few days left cant wait stay safe and happy gaming to all
@@jamesstevens968 I don’t like wireless because I dont enjoy having to charge my headset, I also use my controller wired, so I’ll stick to wired headphones and headsets.
@@jamesstevens968oh dear steelseries really?
@@jamesstevens968if you're suggesting a wireless headset over wired in terms of sound quality, we really should be taking your suggestions with a grain of salt
@GadgetryTech What do you think about hd 560s vs mmx 330 pro vs hd 490 pro for fps games and which amp/dac you recommend for ps5 ?
One hell of a review, Joe. Especially with your work on the impedance measurements.
Let me put it out there that I'm looking forward to a review of the DT 1990 Pro MK2 and direct comparisons to the following headphones: DT 1990 Pro MK1, HD490 Pro, and the DT 900 Pro X.
Thanks, man.
What do you think of these Beyerdynamic vs the Epos H6pro? Which do you think has better positioning for Call of Duty?
These seem to perform better for me (fairly consistently) than the H6 Pro open and closed models in CoD. H6 is still great for the money though
@ thanks bro cheers from Panamá 🇵🇦
how does it perform compared to HD560S?
What kind of dac/amp were you using when testing the mic ?
Sound Blaster G8
Can you use the cable and mic on a DT 700 Pro X or 1990 mk2?
hello good sir , can you kindly suggest me a choice between Fiio FT1 or aune ar5000
i use an amp and i onlu play single player games open world , rpg that sort of stuff .
which one will be better for my use purpose ?
Please teach me how to use noise supression software on the Xbox.
I have in a past a mmx300, great quality sound and mic ,but max volume so low... i had buy a mixamp ,and volume so low too on ps4/ps5.. my arctis pro wireless is more more max volume and happy with them . I hope this new mmx300 pro have a superior max volume 😅..
I wasn’t sure you would bother after the closed back review THESE ARE MAKING ME QUESTION MY FIIO FT3 purchase
These open back are the same headphones but a little open hopefully they might be more balanced same drivers but why go wired nova pro wireless are my daily driver and im on console waiting for the ps5 pro got about few days yet cant wait stay safe and happy gaming to all.
wireless option ?
Instead of buying say the new Schiit Gunnr and a 330+ headset for PS5 for example, is there a better option for the 560+ it would cost?
That's about as good as it gets, but I would strongly consider the Creative G8 DAC that just came out instead of the Gunnr for PS5. Mainly because it has 10 band EQ support, and I think this will have a big impact on enjoyment for mixed games and even competitive FPS. Anything around this is basically personal preference. The Aune AR5000 + Meze Boom Mic + Creative G8 is another good option to consider.
ive had the mmx 300 with the gc7 sound blaster . But why go wired when you can go wireless nova pro wireless.
@@GadgetryTech Have that setup on PS5 and also the Beyer MMX330. G8 on PS5 is great, provided USB1 input is used.
10:14 for audio pic up for both headphones, what was your listening volume?
approximately 70dB
I was just deciding between *Aune AR5000* + ARU1 Dongle DAC cable, *Linsoul HarmonicDyne Zeus Elite* + ARU1 Dongle DAC cable to upgrade the Corsair Virtuoso Pro (I have a separate microphone but I'm happy to have it) and after seeing this I have another very likely candidate, this *MMX 330 Pro.*
I use them for everything and I would also like to use them with a mobile phone (Vivo X100 Ultra) with the Aune ARU1 DAC Dongle. Can anyone help me? Especially if you know the 3 options. Thx
Closed backs have that vacuum congested sound.
How does it compare to Fiio ft1?
These are ft3 level not ft1 next level gear
W video and thumbnail
Put the phone on airplane mode I wanna watch Joe's new video!
"It doesn't really want to listen to you" 😂🥰
I wish these MMX top tier headsets had the detatchable mics and two sets of cables just like the MMX100/150 have. I mean, you spend $300 and you're stuck with a long-ass cable and trrs adapter if you wan't to plug it into your console controller wtf is this
Couldn’t agree more not having a detachable mic is the only thing that concerns me especially reading so many reviews on Amazon about the mic getting loose and not staying in place and they have had this issue with all their goose neck mic models which is crazy for a 300$ headset, I just don’t get why they are so stubborn with this model of mic at beyerdynamic.
BD us getting way to comfortable with these crazy price hikes.
Lets see how that works out with sales numbers..
If they hit the market at $250 maybe a deal. But then theres the new LE's
Imo they all should focus on wireless technology
I would always prefer to have both! Different strokes
I wear headphones for a reason that reason is sound and latency I have no idea why people bother with wireless that also breaks easily
I love reviews 4 gaming but never go cable again ♥️ wireless.
After 50+ headsets 4 now Sony pulse elite I love the sound amazing!! and no disconnect I found the Solution !! Love your videos very informative analysis and more thx Joe
You found the solution to the disconnect issue? What was it?
This is the way #Mando
For Gaming ist the 330 pro better
I just really wish they would include a cable that doesn’t have any inline controls.
Just curious, how come?
I currently run Sennheiser HD560S and a sep mic and I wish sometimes I could just push a button to mute my mic
@ in my experience with in line controls, especially ones with a volume wheel, end up failing over time or even cause a channel imbalance at certain volumes.
The Mic not being detachable is a L
Third !!!!!
These are just awfull in discord. Picks up all the game sound all the time.
Can't have ears touching baffle. Immediate discomfort.
Way to much money for what it is in my opinion, PC 38x all day long.
Yeah, between that and the H6 Pro open back, this is a hard sell. Would have been nice if it was wireless or had some other value proposition.
How do these compare to the 560s ???
