The more I look at the modern bikes, the easier it is to pick Royal Enfield. Royal Enfield appears to be the only company that knows how to make a beautiful motorcycle. Sharp triangles, squares, wedges, hard edges, sharp angles, and stubby sawed off mufflers, are not beautiful. This has to be the worst era in motorcycling history, as most modern bikes in 2024 are nearly as ugly as the 1980's "Universal Japanese Motorcycles." It's a mystery why the motorcycle companies don't actually ask consumers what looks good, before they send out a monstrosity. Who decided that the Transalp 750 or Tuareg 660 should have those horrendous front headlight assemblies? Who is designing the bikes at Yamaha, are they even Human? Who designed the "X" headlight on the BMW GS1300, and why are they still employed? Why are the Africa Twin, the Ducati Desert X, and the Triumph Tiger, the only good looking large capacity ADV bikes?
Shouldn't it be an 802 since it has 2 cylinders? I'll be interested to see the Vitpilen when it comes out. Maybe we can get the 990 version of the Vitpilen for some extra fun.

Saved yourself money. This motor has been a time bomb since introduction in 2018 😂
@@Spidey890R been riding my 401 since 2020. Love it.
@@SafaDave 401 is not the same as the 790/890/801/901 these engines are shit, the eat camshatfs, cheap and soft materials, you saved yourself alot of money and pain by not buying it.... buy a mt09 or a street triple xD.. hell even mv agusta is a safer bet than this cheese engine.
get yourself a XSR900 instead
If they didn't fix the camshaft issue yet, I would stay FAR away from this bike.
Sweet looking bike. Time will tell if it’s a Cam Eating Monster like the rest of the KTM/Husky’s…..Buy an XSR900. It’s faster and proven to be as reliable as a Toyota.
I dunno, there is something about the design of this family that has the whiff of the modern office photocopier and attendant lack of charisma about them. Not for me, but hey ho. IMHO of course.
that sucks, having to pay for a computer setting. like the old ibm scam, they flick a switch and you're upgraded to a bugger machine. why are manufacturers so greedy?
Is it any more reliable than the KTM version? Indeed does Husqvarna somehow manage to mitigate the unreliability of KTM generally?
The cams are ok for the 2024 models or they continued the bullshit that we all are seeing um the 890/790/901 models???
its ktm so its probably the same xD
It’s a nice bike. But It’ll fail to sell like the 701 version did and get reduced to sub 9k.
That camshaft won't last long 🤣
Aint no cyber retro scrambler complete without some tubeless cross spokes and some bar end mirrors . And NGL I would give this the blue and white colour treatment from 2021 vitpilen 701 !. That matte black kinda boring ngl
chocolate camshafts and mickeymouse warrenty, avoid at all costs.
Id call the style Neo-Retro
The more I look at the modern bikes, the easier it is to pick Royal Enfield. Royal Enfield appears to be the only company that knows how to make a beautiful motorcycle.
Sharp triangles, squares, wedges, hard edges, sharp angles, and stubby sawed off mufflers, are not beautiful. This has to be the worst era in motorcycling history, as most modern bikes in 2024 are nearly as ugly as the 1980's "Universal Japanese Motorcycles."
It's a mystery why the motorcycle companies don't actually ask consumers what looks good, before they send out a monstrosity.
Such a disappointment this isn't fully made in Europe. The motor puts it in the no go zone for me.
Even if it was, it's not like it widve been better quality. Reliability is always an issue with Europeans.
@@asifkhattak608 I didn't say anything about quality.
Shouldn't it be an 802 since it has 2 cylinders?
I'll be interested to see the Vitpilen when it comes out. Maybe we can get the 990 version of the Vitpilen for some extra fun.
Ugly, expensive and unreliable.
I believe Ducati Scrabler (desert sled) is a better option for the money
Too slow too boring
Nice enough bike, I guess, but I don’t see why I’d get rid of my Aprilia Tuono 660 Factory and then pay more money to replace it with a dolled up KTM. I’d rather go for an XSR900.
are you kiddin? mt60rs are f**kin good tyres if you know what they are for. Those you mentioned scenarios are perfect for these tyres..
this one looks like a painted duke ...
like the duke had a say in how the HSQ should look.
Looks like a Honda CB1000R, down to the bronze gear cover.
Tbh if they had of made an exact copy of the 401 in the 801 I would of bought it but it looks nowhere near as good as the 401
Cams
Enough comments on the cam...for me the look of it just hurts the eyes
The 701 you reviewed couple of years ago looks way better than this one.
Watch out for the cheese camshafts everyone! Don't buy them. There are already 990 engines starting to have problems as well!
Motobob, don’t respond to all these commenters who are trying to shame you for not mentioning supposed issues with this bike’s engine. These are not mechanics. These are not current KTM owners who have personally had this problem. These are not even “friend of a friend” stories. These are people who know nothing besides what they read online. And they probably can’t even change a taillight without taking their bike to the dealer. And no, I don’t have a KTM or even like the brand.
Ahh yes because being critical to a product that is well known to be bad while manufacturer turns a blind eye is a no no 🙈 how do you figure?
Well said. So many keyboard warriors who sees themselfes as experts. And commenting negative makes them feel like experts.
hoping for the New Nuda
