Little irritated with that change to Sentinels. I just ordered a third Sentinel to have a full squadron per lore fluff. Just another example of Games Workshop going against their established lore...
Such a shame with the Scions. The one with the flamer was the biggest badass in all of 40k. The others could have parachutes in their backpacks, but the one with the flamer only had his tanks. So he most likely jumped out of the Valkyrie, yelling "FOR THE EMPEROR!" while slowing himself down with the flamethrower.
For a person who has over 90 scions I am really upset. Not sure how the new detachment can even work. You cant target units with the Stratagems and the enhancements don't work
@@trustudy6083 that +1 is still very strong, you could still use hot extraction to appear somewhere else, granted is not deepstrike. and use your CP towards grenades, tank shock, hot extraction and the servitors thingy no?

Well that feths up my whole army. I have a ton of metal minis and have each squad as its own color scheme, since my army is remnants. The misc bits of leftover commands shoved together by the munitorium. Between the insane pricing, paying for the rules that will be changed within a week, paying a subscription for the app... I'm done.
If you were that soft you would never make it in the guard, soldier. You can literally run them as any of the IG squad types. Simply use base rings to make it clear if needed.
Auspex is an animal. He cannot be reasoned with. He feels no pain. Seriously though, I bet he’s got a team working for him. I can’t imagine one person doing all this.
wow. Dodged several bullets by never playing guard at this point. I loved the concept from prior editions of treating scions vaguely like elysians, but thats out now, on top of the forced into 3 sepeciic archetypes of units, plus the loss of heavy weapons in inantry squads..
As I was afraid of, there is no longer any way to attach a HWT to an Infantry squad and they have to be put in their own dedicated squads. This really screws over Mech Guard. Well, my Steel Legion boys had a good run for the past 20 years. Time to box them I guess until GW brings back proper platoons.
@otakuon no, it doesn't, their detachment rule is good, the mech detachment that is, it leaked. makes meltas viable.. also, Catachans weapons teams with +1 to wound vs vehicles and monsters looks Good too..
@@rosvall216the Mech Detachment is alright. I was hoping for something a little more with it. And the whole “only three themed regiments” situation presents another problem as the rules as written discourage mixing different “regiment” themes. Ultimately, I am just still really miffed that the flexibility of IG has been severely nerfed but eventually I will just make do as always. Like I might go back to an all spec ops stormtrooper mech list. This is why I have many different guard units in my collection along with many different armies so that when GW screws over one, I can still play with others (my poor, poor sisters….)
As cool as the new Fields of Fire is, it doesn't gel well with the detachment rule. One of the two units firing will *not* be getting Lethal Hits, and will effectively be shooting the wrong targets.
They way it's written is terrible, but I very strongly feel it's meant to be 4 specials per 20. I sure as hell wouldn't go gluing on more before a FAQ lol.
Am I the only one who isn't pleased with all this. Like I get, don't judge it till you try it and all, but I am a fairly new player to Astra Militarum and I was kinda hoping for something more... fun. This stuff really isn't as interesting and flavorful as I was hoping for. I guess they just don't feel like they are filling the fantasy of playing the army in my head. The Tank Detachment being a prime example.
Genuinely I would consider like a petition or something to just make them toss whatever product they’ve made and restart from scratch. Everything I’ve seen of this book is fundamentally flawed.
@thegreenhood3330 the one thing I'll say is that 10th is easy to learn. That's the whole point, GW wanted to capitalize on warhammers increased popularity the last several years. But once you've gotten your feet wet, I'd consider checking out 9th edition. It was much more in-depth. I'm not calling it perfect, but it was more interesting. Other people prefer going back to even _older_ editions.
Tbh, Catachan will prob. not be coming back, they are going to be phased out step by step like every other old regiment that GW had (Mordians, Tallarn, Armageddon, Praetorian Vallhalan ...). It´s a shame, they were my first 40.000 army back in `04.
I was on the fence when it comes to purchasing this box. I have guard but would like to buy into Eldar with the upcoming release. This video sealed the deal. Guard looks absolutely lacking in every way. Not one detachment sounds fun outside of the transport one which is seems a little meh. I’ll pass on them and jump into Eldar. After all the hype, this is probably one of the worst IG codex releases I’ve seen in 8 editions. I feel like we’re getting the 3rd edition chaos space marine codex treatment. Most of our “extra units” are just variations of what the generic version did for us. And it did it better. And everything else either stayed the same, or got worse.
Especially for guard. Its my main army and I think Im just going to not buy the codex. They have just been shitting on our army with every update, making it feel worse, taking all our options away, punishing us becasue there 0.01% top players who play AM are very good at the game. Fuck GW, they can suck shit
honestly, why even play 40k rules anymore - 8th, 9th and 10th edition are unthematic garbage for metachasers, for all its flaws at lets 7th was actually fun and thematic
Huh? The Siege gun is comically overpowered, the engineers are hyper efficient, the death riders are perfectly fine, and lascannons or crazy flamers that get guaranteed shots off are some of the finest heavy weapon squads out there besides good ole mortars. How are the Krieg units bad?
The Krieg Heavy Weapon squad 'shoot on death' only works on a 3+ and only if the fire coordinator is still alive. But everything else you said is spot on.
@@brockreynolds2405 Don't be surprised if it changes, but the codex leaks seem to price Valks at 150, instead of their old 190. Still a bit pricey, but maybe workable?
@whydissohard it will also need an ability change as it does nothing with Scions right now. Even at that price you'd be paying 60 more points for losing a support ability and gaining a small amount of firepower.
@@brockreynolds2405 Well, it's still a fast moving transport with a decent weapons platform, even without grav shoot insertion. It would also be able to do the extract stratagem in Bridgehead. I would still much prefer scions had deepstrike, or at least give the Valkyrie a better special rule to make it more playable, if they want to push Aquilons like this. It could be such a fun unit.
Why are gw getting rid of all the servitors? Those things gave some grimdark flavour to imperial armies if you wanted it. Now they seem to be trying to take away the trappings of the Imperium as we older gamers remember.
Because they're old useless miniatures, I think they were still in metal? No one bothered to buy them, why would they keep them? Don't worry, They're still in the lore XD
I have seen many many Guard armies in my time, in person and online, can't say Servitors show up. They are neat, but i wouldn't say they have any place in the Guard.
They can wait a long time then ... Old world is a fucking scam to sell 20+ old miniatures at todays pricing to nostalgic folks, and Bolt action is only relevant for those who like Imperial guard due to the military look (so quite a small portion of the overall 40K playerbase)
I'm indifferent about the Tempestus changes. I only have the 10 Temp-Scions and Taurox Prime from the Start Collecting box from years ago, plus the new Aquiline from Kill Team. The upcoming changes seem like a side-grade and I don't really care about Scions losing Deep Strike because I always put them in the Taurox anyway. Obviously the Death Korps are the stars of Astra Militarum 10e -- perheps Tempestus will get their update in 11e. I'm going in fairly heavy with Death Korp -- although units like the Siege Cannon are much cheaper than I expected, so I might only reach 1000 pts. Sounds like i couldnt put anything together at all, but then i remembered i havent enjoyed the playing of 40k since 6th ed, and it doesn't really matter how the models i paint are organized in my display cases.
I would love to get some of the new kreig, but im not buying anything new u til my backlog is finished.
Little irritated with that change to Sentinels. I just ordered a third Sentinel to have a full squadron per lore fluff. Just another example of Games Workshop going against their established lore...
It is lame and pointless but it seems better to run them as solos to spread the buff around
I'm genuinely so confused/annoyed about the scions loosing deep strike. It's such a massive change to the army for no reason.
The advisors being gone is a bummer. Those were cool models! (Something different than the typical guys in combat
You cant target units with the Stratagems and the enhancements don't work
Next edition will be the Catachan update. Straken will be replace Hellfist what’s his name
Great. Killed all enthusiasm for playing 40k once again. Very glad I spent a few days making Scions.
That's kind of what you get for buying shit to chase the meta as a Guard player.
Consider this your lesson not to meta chase lol
@@stevenschnepp576 Oh I didn't buy anything, I was 3d printing and gluing leftover bits together.

@@trustudy6083 that +1 is still very strong, you could still use hot extraction to appear somewhere else, granted is not deepstrike. and use your CP towards grenades, tank shock, hot extraction and the servitors thingy no?
9:34 I have to ask, why do you keep saying models could come back? Other than with Zodgrod (and it took him roughly three decades) I don't remember that ever happening unless it was a mistake by GW.
They're gone, man. Legends is the swan song and by 11th there won't be any more rules for them.
The loss of weapon team in infantry squad is quite annoying since most my infantry had one.

He probably has a mad streamlined video creation process as well as a good knowlege of the rules.
Literally Building scions as i was watching this video..... Fist 3 seconds of the video i had to pause and sit in SHOCK at what i heard
honestly a 1.000 point siege regiment army is really tempting me
I was wondering where this video was
wow. Dodged several bullets by never playing guard at this point. I loved the concept from prior editions of treating scions vaguely like elysians, but thats out now, on top of the forced into 3 sepeciic archetypes of units, plus the loss of heavy weapons in inantry squads..
Overall this codex seems like a pretty big let down.
Is the stalwart’s honors enhancement infantry only? Or can it be given to a Rogal Dorn tank commander?
If it can be given to a tank commander then him issuing himself +1 to save on top of something else would be really nice.
kreig command squad looks good
Dude.., is spelling so hard for you?
Auspex got the rules wrong, medic is a fnp only for mortals which is immensely worse
Ok, tank commander already has 2 orders, why does he need the calm under fire enhancement? Since the order need to be on a second squadron unit
it can be a third unit
One guy can get move move move and then he can give himself and a third guy take aim
What tf is the point of scions now?
Amen
Apparently, to sell more Taurox kits
Giving up my guard army, losing straken and harker is a gut punch
i missed the chance to buy the old krieg marshall, he was perfect
I'm sure you can find it through alternative sources.
As cool as the new Fields of Fire is, it doesn't gel well with the detachment rule.
One of the two units firing will *not* be getting Lethal Hits, and will effectively be shooting the wrong targets.
What if both units were sentinels? Do they still have both regiment and squadron? If so, that could be a possible use case?
@Sirhc223 Don't know yet!
Unfortunately, only two sentinels per unit now, so maybe not worth it.
Yes that’s all good but how many special weapons plus Vox can Krieg have? No one agrees on the smoking. We need an answer!
They way it's written is terrible, but I very strongly feel it's meant to be 4 specials per 20.
I sure as hell wouldn't go gluing on more before a FAQ lol.
Up in points and lose deep stirke. Rip my scions...
I ran a bunch of scions. Thanks GW for nerfing the deep strike
Everything I’ve seen of this book is fundamentally flawed.
welcome to 10th edition.
Cuase it feels like the book was originally suppose to be codex krieg. Not codex guard
@@kyrridas1573 it's my first edition as well. At least I'm learning what to expect
Other people prefer going back to even _older_ editions.
anyone have the new kaskrin datasheet?
Yeah it's on reddit.
I hate almost everything about this
Emperor does not protect 😔
I hope we get a krieg quartermaster. these medics are not the same.
Where can the codex b viewed??
Not out.
Mordian Glory did a livestream showing it off, should be on his channel still.
Guard can sit on the shelf for awhile.
This Codex looks amazing. I want whatever you're smoking

@@calebs9291 what? 4 of the detachments look strong AF. the mechanized one looks fun as hell, the combined arms detachment looks very versatile, and the tank one looks to be pretty nutty if you play well. Even the arty detachment kinda fucks over fast armies.

churning out half hour videos every 15 minutes
The taruox lost a shot on its missile for both krac and frag
Yeah but 6 months from now GW is going to listen to a bunch of people whinging that "orders are feels bad" and strip them from most of the units.
Rip sentinel spam
does anyone know if the bullgryns have squadron keyword for benefits from the hammer of the emperor detatchment??
Why would they, they're not vehicles.
Though it would be cool to have them smash through walls
I am very disappointed about the change to the Scions. I have a 1500(2000 if you count the three Valkyries...but they are pretty trash) point Scion list I have built up over the years, and this kills the theme of that army completely :(
I just bought two units of scions the other day for the deepstrike. Thank you for making me cry

oldhammer 40k is looking better all the time
After all the hype, this is probably one of the worst IG codex releases I’ve seen in 8 editions. I feel like we’re getting the 3rd edition chaos space marine codex treatment.
Most of our “extra units” are just variations of what the generic version did for us. And it did it better.
And everything else either stayed the same, or got worse.
We waited 10 years for this btw.
Index was better, why do gw keep making 40k worse?
Especially for guard. Its my main army and I think Im just going to not buy the codex. They have just been shitting on our army with every update, making it feel worse, taking all our options away, punishing us becasue there 0.01% top players who play AM are very good at the game.
Fuck GW, they can suck shit

honestly, why even play 40k rules anymore - 8th, 9th and 10th edition are unthematic garbage for metachasers, for all its flaws at lets 7th was actually fun and thematic
This is the Krieg edition, and they made the krieg unit trash.
Scions getting no DS actually gives Valkyries a role within the codex..
@@rosvall216 they need to go way down in cost to make them relevant over the Taurox Prime.
I don't think it'll be great for competitive, but workable in casual setting.
I would still much prefer scions had deepstrike, or at least give the Valkyrie a better special rule to make it more playable, if they want to push Aquilons like this. It could be such a fun unit.
@whydissohard it used to be fun. Been running pure Scions since Psychic Awakening and this kills all enthusiasm in it for me.
Why are gw getting rid of all the servitors? Those things gave some grimdark flavour to imperial armies if you wanted it. Now they seem to be trying to take away the trappings of the Imperium as we older gamers remember.
Ad mech only probably
No model, no rules
Because they're old useless miniatures, I think they were still in metal? No one bothered to buy them, why would they keep them?
Don't worry, They're still in the lore XD
Grimdark isn't as marketable to the mainstream.
I have seen many many Guard armies in my time, in person and online, can't say Servitors show up. They are neat, but i wouldn't say they have any place in the Guard.
ATTENTION 40K BROS: BOLT ACTION AND OLD WORLD ARE WAITING FOR YOU
Can I use my Tyranids in Bolt Action?
As far as GW pricing goes, The Old World feels considerably cheaper too when considering the amount of models you get per plastic box set.
Why would I play a 30 year old game or German tank porn when 40k is doing great?
@@JakeBuilds 40k is older than 30 years old lol
They can wait a long time then ... Old world is a fucking scam to sell 20+ old miniatures at todays pricing to nostalgic folks, and Bolt action is only relevant for those who like Imperial guard due to the military look (so quite a small portion of the overall 40K playerbase)
First!

I'm not a "purist" so I'm fine with mixing my Cadians and Death Korps units into the same army. I just want to try the new Death Korps units!
