Do more of these with Luke. His technique of counting his steps then knowing, plus/minus, how far to take his putter back works well. We can all get this together on the practice green. Also, Luke is very adept at hitting his landing spots with his chips. You both did well. Great video! Thanks!

I'm pulling for ya Mr. Short Game. You got this. Can't wait to see you win against the pros.
When I get to practice green I hit 2 putts each way pulling my putter head back 12", then 2 more at 9" then two more at 6" and figure out, for example, that 12" = 8 paces or .66
So if I have a 5 pace uphill putt on first green I pull my putter back 8" and give it just a touch more pop for the uphill. Works nearly flawlessly.
I do not pace off the whole putt because it pisses people off. I walk to midway point and double it.
That was really fun to watch. Your short game work was evident as you got up and down on a consistent basis.
I was about to drop RUclips and focus on other things but this series has me hooked.

Great video. You are practicing at a high level, getting with your game, putting pressure on yourself, course work, etc. Are you doing any weight room workouts? If so, maybe a video on that?
Great Video guys. I gave Luke a follow too now. I realized when you talk about PGA tour and RUclips golf, that I too watch more RUclips golf now than pro golf. I am 52, so not just a young trend.

Really fun. Great job...But... You want to get good fast? Put down $2000 against a guy who wants to step on your neck. Then see how the pressure feels of a big match. No fist bumps. No laughing, and having fun. Just your kids college tuition on the line.

Suggestion: maybe have a match with Andrew Jensen or George Bryan. They have numerous experiences playing professional golf and they live in your general area.

I walk off my putts too. As golfers we want to know the distance of every shot except putts. Blows my mind why most don't do it.

luke's short chipping is something else.
I was also told by one of the Calloway originators….that putting was 90% of the reason for winning on the “Senior Tour”

Good game - But remember, no buggies on the Tour - Walking every hole - you have to build that into your game as well. Which needs fitness that is vital on that 18th Green.
Pretty sure you can use a cart on the champions tour
@@buchaneb you are correct - I assumed it was the same as the PGA Tour but it seems it is frowned upon Hence you never see them using a cart.

you played really welllike the way you kept it in the Fairways thats a big Plus. Playing some of the matches with other RUclips golfers should help with the pressure game also, Then when you get out on the course with the Seniors just think of them as bunch of RUclips Golfers LOL

I guess you must have videoed your questions on the golf cart at one time. The part where you were asking him what his best score was, and he asked you the same question after you hit your drive, you must have driven at least 1000 yards before you came to a stop. Lol. Great match! You hit it pretty strong for a man of 50, Mr. SG.

Mr short gm try playing some tournaments on the “US Amtour” , they have senior scratch grp will give you some of that tourney experience your looking for.
enjoyable vid. I wonder, when Luke spoke about having fun instead of taking it so seriously, if that's truly what happened. I think a lot of folks experience the same thing (being super-serious and then going to just have fun), but i think that taking it seriously does help train the mind and body. I think a lot of folks get to a point where they get overloaded, and basically say, "to heck with this, i'm just going to go out and enjoy myself!" and then they start playing good. And it's really not quantifiable how much work you put in actually does bleed through to your "happy-go-lucky" play, because you may have trained yourself so hard THEN that now you do things automatically, freeing up the mind for other tasks, such as reading breaks, chipping to spots, etc. Just my philosophical two cents' worth :)
I just think this probably happens because i've never seen anyone not care about results, and all of a sudden get good. But i have seen plenty who over-thought everything, and then loosened up, and they started playing great (myself included).
