Everything just looks so lush! i think if yu are going to put a juniper in the one flower bed where you took out the redbud. then i would take the boxwood and move it somewhere else. think winter interest in another area too. the japanese grass looks so nice, i have some, but it must not like the area, it just dont seem to want to get any bigger and fuller. I love the look at 15:27 soo pretty. and the all the hosta behind that. soo so pretty. l went on a flower walk this summer and one of the houses, the person had a ton of hosta next to their woods and they looked beautiful. and no deer issues, they said the secret was to get bars of Irish soap and use the whole bar and put it close to the hosta stems and the leaves hide it from view and that has taken care of the deer? you have to use the whole bar not slivers of it? may try that? darn deer. lol Genie :)
Soleil, your gardens look so beautiful, the color combinations are striking. I must admit, I'm envious of your ability to grow beautiful Japanese forest grass. I've purchased small plants in the past, but they never survive the winters in my area. I will give it one more chance next season because it is gorgeous. @@Suburbanoasis I planted the first tiny one in the spring and the second (larger one) was a clearance find in the fall. So far, my green thumb is more of a brown one when it comes to Hakonechloa grass. 😢
I’m guilty of hanging onto perennials year after year when they are a worry rather than a pleasure. After watching this video, I am getting rid of my astilbe for your same reasons. They have never looked good in my garden and their bloom time is very short for me. I will try pulmonaria Spot On from your recommendation. Thank you. Your garden is lovely.!
Beautiful Soleil. The hydrangeas and hostas sure are wonderful. We have cooler weather I’m getting little sprouts from my brunnera plants. I can find a place for them in the spring. 🌿👩🏻🌾💚🌸

Have you tried placing your green tomatoes in a paper bag/covered cardboard box to ripen in a dark, cool spot? I successfully do this with green tomatoes at the end of the season.
Can't say anything more than the already mentioned comments! FABULOUS, is all !!! Can you include us while⁶ you're prunning and wrapping up your garden(s) for the winter, as well as what to, or NOT to prune, in the fall?? (i.e.: anise hyssop, achillea, butterfly weed, monarda, etc.).
Hi Soleil, thanks for the tour. I tried to see if I missed the info in a previous video but can't seem to find why you had to remove the redbud ? is it dead or just in another place and which variety was it ? Is the remaining one the same variety ? Your garden is very inspiring.
@@Suburbanoasis oh that's sad when you can't cure a loved plant....I just realised my peonies have something, their foliage aren't looking how they should but I can't get myself to get them out for now.
I absolutely love your gardens, my input is that there is way too many hostas. I’m assuming if you divide them you are giving them away because i don’t see anywhere for you to put more haha! I’d pull a lot of them and add other fun shade plants like summersweet, ligularia, and fun shrubs! Especially the plain green ones. 👋🏻

Thank you! I had to take put the redbud because it had something wrong with it, some disease, not sure what exactly.

I usually wait until the frost knocks them back and then clean them up. I will try to show in a video!
Do you overwinter your mums in your flower beds? I am in zone 5a in New Brunswick, Canada and would LOVE to have mums in my borders
Yes! They are Perennial in Zone 5 as long as you plant them early enough and they are not florist mums.

I LOVE all of the hostas. I make screen shots to keep as inspiration because I think they are all so beautiful!
Some hostas are leaving, but most are staying.
