I love this because on the surface it's the cutest thing ever, but 'hauu' is what Hanyuu says in response to unpleasantness, and 'nano desu' can be interpreted as "that's how it is". So ultimately this is a happy, adorable, heartwarming song about accepting suffering.

Hanyuu also kicks ass in godmode... stands to reason though since she's the local deity... The shrine in Hinamizawa-mura is based on a real shrine to Hachiman-sama (who is associated with victory in battle and success in farming) located in Shirakawa-mura. Hinamizawa-mura is based heavily on the real Shirakawa-mura. The Dam project is also real. Half of the 700 year old village is at the bottom of a man-made lake, and the remaining portion is a UNESCO World Heritage site.
I hope they keep doing ova's for this series. I don't care that the main story is over, it's so much fun seeing the everyday lives of these characters.
I kinda agree, because I like these characters so much that I want to see more. Also they suffered so much in the main story, that they deserve some lighthearted comedy fun.
The last episode of Higurashi Kira basically shows that Rika is a platonic tsundere towards Hanyuu. As much as the cynical Rika seems to want to mess with Hanyuu and tell her off, they're definitely friends (it's presented in such an adorable way, if you haven't seen the last episode of Higurashi Kira, go watch it.) and I wouldn't be surprised if Hanyuu is one of the only things that stop Rika from just going full despair. I know that moe/cuteness like this keeps me still going in life. x3

I remember hearing this for the first time back then when I got into watching Higurashi. I thought it was so cute!! (the translated lyrics though isn't as happy lol). Listening to this again more than 10 years later, it feels like I'm back to those days years ago.

Higurashi no Naku Koro ni Kai is probably the best anime series I've watched. At first, I really despised Takano and her scheming, but later on I started to pity her. The last episodes are pure brilliance. Acyually, the entire series is brilliant! Waaaah!
