That is surprising, I haven't tried it. I also felt a 200 count by next year would be wishful thinking, if 500 is stable then that's quite mind blowing as CIG tends to under deliver by a wide margin for long periods of time lol
@The_Fallen_1 they are testing two different networks communication protocols. They've mentioned one works much better than the other, so I'm guessing you may have been on one of the servers using the old protocol.

I was like running down the street with a mate in real life. That was fantastic to see. I lot of ships gathered at a POI and it was flawless. Admittedly there were only 50 or so in chat but the meshing made a huge difference to the feel of the game. Congrats to CIG on this achievement.
I started on the one to 100 player server and stayed on until the three 500 after the 1000 and the one 100 player server was getting 30 to 40 server FPS, which is a huge improvement because live normally sits between 10 and 15 and 3.24.2

Those test worked quite well but you have to notice that they were done on new servers so without having to manage trash everywhere in the system. In the current PU, new servers usually work very well with high FPS around 30 but deteriorates quickly. It seems to be also the case during those short tests even if the tests ended before reaching a critical low FPS. Moreover, CIG never explained how static server meshing will manage the beginning of 4.0 when everyone will spawn at the same time in Stanton cities and rush to call a ship and go to Pyro ... The number of players on servers will not be balanced and will change severely on a few time period.
Getting this to even work is insane alone especially from what a day or two ago where it didn't work... yes adding in combat and such will indeed change that but most players aren't going to be fighting anyways, id keep up with drewski and the few others who do a lot more of the combat testing
I think they can pull off 500 in stanton 500 in pyro and they should. Pyro is way bigger than Stanton. It needs more players. The dream would be 10k players per system that would be sick. it would need more spaceports tho.
no i think they will need 1k per system as a buffer for when orgs have large battles they cant just kick everyone out of the server to accomodate for the battle. plus there could be more than just one battle happening in a system at a time. But when they get the dynamic meshing down im sure it will work atm it is still static server meshing.
@@mattvmalone nope its a tech demo and nowhere near the final vison of a long term playable game. Server meshing was the make or break technology for it. I've been a backer since 2014, seeing it working like this is unbelievable achievement for CIG.

Yeah, it's definitely nice, but it's still needs a little bit of work. Those that have slightly lower pc, but still above the minimum were struggling some. In the state, it's in right now. It's not playable on a large scale. It still requires you to be way above the minimum requirements to even run it smoothly. But overall I'd say it was a massive success. They just need to go back and do a lot of optimizing, So it's playable not just presentable. Because that's all this was, a stress test presentation, not a playable presentation. The number of players on servers will not be balanced and will change severely on a few time period.
if i 'm not mistaken the tests ran for 48 hours straight without changing servers and they stayed "stable" so hey, might be mostly fixed
Can you imagine large scale battlefield games but instead of 64v64 its 500v500
CIG really needed this win.
You and I have VERY different definitions of "works"
haven't seen a large 500 man space battle yet..
Yep , that’ll be the real test of server Meshing
Getting this to even work is insane alone especially from what a day or two ago where it didn't work...
yes adding in combat and such will indeed change that but most players aren't going to be fighting anyways, id keep up with drewski and the few others who do a lot more of the combat testing
I think they can pull off 500 in stanton 500 in pyro and they should.
Pyro is way bigger than Stanton. It needs more players.
The dream would be 10k players per system that would be sick. it would need more spaceports tho.
I think a little less per system. Considering NPC ships will be a thing
no i think they will need 1k per system as a buffer for when orgs have large battles they cant just kick everyone out of the server to accomodate for the battle. plus there could be more than just one battle happening in a system at a time. But when they get the dynamic meshing down im sure it will work atm it is still static server meshing.
After watching this, do I dare say, "I think the y did it!"
500 players is the sweet spot to me at least.
Server meshing also means they'll be swapping hosting services so server performance will increase a bit more
Yeah, I had better performance on the 1000 player 1. Then I did on the 2nd five hundred one.
they need to move ATC to its own server, and open launch doors when the server load is no more than X
Ah, the classic Eject-Without-Canopy-Opened :')
Has CIG cracked the G O D tech? SC will actually become a real game. Congrats 👏
it is a real game....lol
@@mattvmalone nope its a tech demo and nowhere near the final vison of a long term playable game. Server meshing was the make or break technology for it. I've been a backer since 2014, seeing it working like this is unbelievable achievement for CIG.
@@philm325 Imagine calling it not a long term playable game when it is, and literally thousands of other people disagree with you including most backers who have been playing it long term since the start
Also, imagine thowing in the fact like it's not near the final version, as if it's even been the main focus of development-because it hasn't.
I'm on that edge of buying now that I see this.
wait for 4.0, likely coming beginning of next year
Now if CIG were smart, they'd iron out these network delays on the 500 mesh and get it out the door to live before CitCon, would be the best goodwill they could ever gain.
Uh, they know what they're doing, you clearly don't tho
@@mattvmalone yeh man that's the prevailing sentiment 12 years in, competency
@@DJCroBar Imagine talking about a subject you know nothing about and pretending you know about it. Interesting.
But it's a step in the right direction and i'm excited for the future. 😊
Scorpius probably vanished from previous button spam calling it, you probably hit a delayed store button you didn't see.
server meshing is the future of gaming
Whenever I see "meshing works" as a video title, I automatically think it is an Ark video
We had a 890J with 120 players on it lol
1000 players and working? Nice job to CIG!!!
The terminals remind me of self service checkouts.
Lmfao, that was Hippo from Avenger Squadron that attacked you.
2024 we have cars that parallel park themselves but a game in which you can not auto land a ship in space?
How does the licking to CIG is going? Do you like the taste of their 5th points?
I thought server meshing was for having a server for a piece of the map to reduce the amount of data a server has to possess
great meme on X this morning, LOL
It was a great test.
Well I got hit with the No Home Hangar bug at Prison. Unable to call ships or even go to my hangar. I hope 3.24.2 can fix this. In the process of getting off Orison.
the part when all the carracks flew by
I did not expect war thunder
omg this is like miraculous news
