I hope that this guide will finally encourage people to use the Echo Impact Waves much more liberally in combination with Spin2Wins as it is one of the most important yet underutilized tool that we have in our arsenal. What a great time to be a hunting horn player in Iceborne!
For monsters that sleep with their heads too near a wall, do a forward recital INTO the wall. Turn ~90 degrees, forward encore slightly away from the head and readjust accordingly. The Hunting Horn Triple Impact Wake Up requires less space than GS TCS Wake Up and is way easier to land especially when ledges and slopes are factored in. You also roll cancel out of its ending animation faster than TCS which allows you to still clutch claw and wall slam some monsters.
This is such a beautiful series of work and you can really feel the love. Thank you. I was trying to learn how and when to use IEW and then this popped up on my phone. Such a challenging and rewarding weapon🎷🎶🎵🎶!

So i was a hunting horn main back when MHW first came out, but I got out of the game after the friends I played it with stopped playing. Now that another friend of ours picked it up, and iceborne went on sale, i got back into it, and there's no better time to be a Dootstick player. You know I've been getting bored of iceborne lately. But watching your videos have made me want to play again and get back into it. I've taken a hiatus from melee for a while now. But I think I'll make an exception for HH. I loved HH in MH4U and became a main towards the end of its life cycle. Felt good KO'ing 140 apex rajang and teo's.
I am a HH main, and this is just top notch advices. I was never consistent with landing my echo waves but that is cause I uncore to the front and backwards often. Gonna do encores to the left now to secure the encore wave! Thanks AmaDEUS!!!

First, i love your videos and I enjoy the HH so much cause of u, Griffted and MHW PH Elites. Only thing to say, is that i tried to do de movest with a hack to verify MVs and i discovered that Impatc is not 50 but 52'5 (105 and 157'5 levels 2 and 3), dragons are quite weird cause of conversion from raw into elemental for those maths. If u want i can pass the data sheet on discord or something.
Every time you make a video I try out your tips and immediately see the results. It feels amazing honestly. I hope the next MH keeps the echo wave notes because they're my favorite thing about the weapon.
Also for the wakeup, Have you tried forward recital next to the monsters head, into forward encore, and then turning the horn 90 degrees. The hunting horn turns so fast while playing encores that I find it is the best way to wakeup, especially in tiny spaces. The wakeup is also very easy to pull off because i find that the echo wave seems to “snap” to the head hitbox if it’s going to hit multiple ones - it seems to prioritize hitting the head over other parts.
Just a sidenote: quick recital into EW is amazing at taking down flying monsters. Setting up the combo is extremely difficult since you have to basically do 2 attacks (leftswing and hiltstab) before you can even start playing, but if you predict the monster properly it’s deadly. I’ve KO’d a rathalos in mid air by hitting him with a quick recital echo wave.

"Don't use the forward, back, and side" They are still useful. They are better used for scenarios where you need to move. Back recital is basically your backstep and can slam short jabd mondters will do. Side recitals are useful as side step counters
Personally, I disagree. Forward is really not that great considering the long animation. Back and side recitals have a purpose, yes, but they are overshadowed by other options. And for what it's worth, in speedruns from top HH players, we never see those moves used...ever. I think this is quite telling.
I've found something interesting about Hunting Horn's impact wave attack. While attack boosting skills, charms, and songs increases the impact wave damage, the skill bludgeoner does not affect the increase in impact wave damage as your weapon loses sharpness. Even though you still get the attack power increase to your weapon as your sharpness gauge drops down past a certain level, your impact wave attack damage does not increase. Really is too bad. Capcom implements a skill in the game that does not perform well (or even work) in its intended use.
The damage of the waves doesn't take sharpness into account. That's why bludgeoner isn't working. It doesn't matter if you have purple or green. The waves will deal the same amount of damage.

So, I can't understand why not the attack boost from the bludgeoner skill apply as well to increasing the total impact wave damage? All other attack boosting methods consistently show an increase in the total impact wave damage, except for the attack boost from the bludgeoner skill.
This attack needs a serious buff. It should stack with sharpness and affinity, really. It's such a difficult song to stack 3 times when the monster is attacking without corner horning or when doing TA, and yet it only does a little more damage than raw echo attacks and is eclipsed by elemental echo attacks.
The main use of the song is to cause KO. It matches the damage echo waves without tearing through sharpness(granted he's running a master's touch build). That combo does nearly 260 ko damage vs just the 75 of the echo wave combo. Echo wave dragon is the recital dps song but only for monsters weak against dragon.
Honestly I like that it doesnt crit or scale with sharpness. It gives it something that makes it unique and different to horns other moves. And the fact that it does do more damage, even a little, just serves to give a more varied playstyle and more options when the opportunity presents itself.
But i get that it's a powerhouse in cases where you're forced to use low sharpness and no affinity, like in arena quests or any% runs. Man, everything just had to be a crit meta.
@@interneddsupreme3810 echo wave dragon does more damage than the echo wave. I personally use the safi drakhorn(Attack 4 melody) with safi/brachi armor. That gives me a strong ko attack that doesn't sacrifice damage. I typically use echo wave dragon for the wake ups but it is the strongest dps you can do.

Hi AmaDEUS. I'm a PC player. I was watching the HH shuffle but I can't understand how you can do it because when you play the song you did first Neutral recital (hit), foward - (hit) -Natural position but in the middle of the foward and natural position you did not press the R2 to activate the melody but you did an impact (hit). How that is posible? I was trying for hours on the computer but i couldn't. (BTW: I am a new player)
I was always wondering what's the difference of impact echo wave and echo wave dragon. and which is more efficient. also why only dragon(assuming this is an elemental attack) and no other elements. I guess this will be answered in the 3rd video
Hey ! The hilt stab is mainly to save time. If you can't get the full duration of a topple (let's say you had to reposition or walk to get to the monster) it's nice. For raw HH the damage is pretty weak so if it doesn't save you time, right swing is better. For elemental HH, the hilt stab is quite strong actually and it's worth landing.

Either Master’s Touch or Protective Polish, because spin to win damages the heck out of sharpness. 5 piece Safi because of the giant element and affinity boost, if you’re using element. Agitator secret if you’re using raw, cuz it’s busted. Then your regular cqc attacker skills, plus horn maestro. 3 Weakness Exploit, 3 Critical Boost, Agitator, Resentment if you’re using Safi’s set, Attack Boost or your weapons elemental attack up, and enough crit eye to reach 100%.
I haven’t taken a look at motion values from other weapons, but 150 seems like a lot compared to the motion values of the other moves HH has (I.e. super pound at 39)
Numbers Wong I’m guessing the lvl 3 encore makes it second next to tcs? Also how do you know this, did you just compare the highest motion values from each weapon?
As impact waves arent affected by element, and safi weapons can get very high raw, they are still the better choice if you want to focus on waves. They're also the better choice for most general gameplay as they give a lot of customisability and flexability for builds.

How does that 150 motion value from the lvl 3 encore echo wave compare to the other hard hitting one shot moves in the game?
I haven’t taken a look at motion values from other weapons, but 150 seems like a lot compared to the motion values of the other moves HH has (I.e. super pound at 39)
The wakeup priority list is Greatsword, Hunting Horn, Gunlance or Artillery HBG with Wyvern ammo, Hammer, Charge Blade.

You're using Safi over Kjarr? I thought Kjarr was better?
