Its a boyfriend. The only other possibility, if a family member, would be their nonexistent father. But by the way Willow was inferring it seemed a more of a romantic nature.
Which doesn't surprise me. The Astar/Slattman women aren't too keen on men in their circle except for Mike. And the guitar players which faded away too.

Great reaction and what a song! This needs to go mainstream. We need to be requesting this song on all of our local stations and streaming the song multiple times a day.
It seems like the real market isn’t the current mainstream but maybe, just maybe, “Baby Boomers” are the primary market. Using local radio stations may reach a market hungry for incredible artistry that speaks to them.
Look at the ratio of old to young within our Angel community.

Only about 10 seconds has been revealed of this "Piano Diaries" version, but I think I speak for many ANGELs that those 10 seconds are EXACTLY what many of us have 'IMAGINEERED' for BAD VALENTINE, not only the Sound, but the visual is ... EVERYTHING I Imagined.... Be Ready AARON ! This could be THE Version to end all versions... which is saying a lot, especially after this version, the concert performance AND the "original" in The HOTEL CAFE... we will see. 😇Jim

In a still pic, the license plate read HEART BREAKER. Not sure if you know, but there was a tease from Toby Gad for Bad Valentine the Piano Diaries version which sounds very different! It's coming out October 4th. It also looks like it going to include a black and white video too. The video was shot along Mulholland Drive in the L.A. area, which is why it was called the Mulholland Video.

Love your initial comment Aaron. One of the things I like about the earlier live version is that it reminds me of a couple of her previous covers… they start out serene and then BAM!… Angelina’s voice sets us back on our heels. With this studio release version we are confronted with AJ’s voice right away. And you’re right! It is necessary to capture a particular younger audience. These videos serve different purposes. ♥️♥️
Oh, I forgot about your challenge Aaron. I know the old fashion way of trying to get an artist played on the radio airwaves is to call in. I know a number of radio stations still take requests through a toll free number and/or go to their website to enter in a request. Since both methods are free, it would be good to have fans do these things multiple times every day until the song is played more consistently on the radio. Once that happens, it should create new fans who want to know more about her...
In the teaser it shows the license plate says Heart Breaker. Your interpretation about the song is about her father is very interesting. Also worth noting is in the concert Angelina and Toby reviewed that this song was written over 2 yrs ago before the release of her EP Old Enough. The fact that Angelina mentioned her heart was recently broken, I think the new release Thank You could very likely be about her father.

A slight change in the lyrics was the order of "should have known"s. Café order was 'see' then 'hear' - video is 'hear' then 'see'.
I requested it by email to our I ❤️ radio affiliate saying: Please play new release “Bad Valentine” sung and written by Angelina Jordan, 18 yo next superstar. Co-written and produced by multi Grammy winner Tody Gad, with hits like “All of me” and “If I were a Boy.”

The car is a '65 mustang that Toby rented for the photoshoot. A red car and red belt for valentine. I've already been thinking about how to contact the radio stations in my area who I think would play music like this. I'm not sure quite how to go about it because I've never tried to do it before, but I think having some of these reactions on my phone to show to potential radio execs would be a start. I'll try to see if I can get an audience with some of them and see how it goes. I will say, I don't think the angels should be speculating about Angelina's personal family situation. I think they try very hard to keep private things private and we should all respect that.
Jim, good luck with the radio stations. I tried that a year ago and it was pretty fruitless. The problem in the US at least (other countries too I bet) is that nearly all FM radio stations are owned by 2-3 large corporations. Playlists are sent to the radio stations from on high - the local stations have little or no say in what music gets played. The good old days of a local DJ picking out what songs he wanted to play and responding to requests are gone. The only exceptions are college radio stations (which often have very small listening audiences) or independently owned stations. I did find one of those in my area, and got them to play Love Don't Let Me Go for the first time ever, as far as I know, in the US, on July 11, 2023. I hope to have an opportunity to be one of the angels sitting around a table talking about our mutual love of Angelina at some future concert, unlike this one. Do you know if this is actually the recording made prior to Old Enough or if Angelina and Toby made a new recording to release on his label? I literally pray that this song will be the one. I have never before in my life felt a personal emotional investment in the success or failure of any artist, but for some reason, I feel it is important that she succeed and I know that I am not alone in this. All I can say is that it's because of who and what she is and not just what she does that accounts for this unusual feeling. I wondered who the person was that she spoke of at the concert who broke her heart, and I leaned over to my cousin and said maybe it's her father. The other name that came to mind would be Heidi Klum. Perhaps her mom's book will have some answers. The fact that she mentioned this event publicly is the only reason that I feel comfortable discussing it here. It's really not our business, but you can't help but notice the absence of her father in her recorded life events. Surely she is aware that mentioning publicly that someone recently broke her heart will result in speculation so in a way it's almost like her giving permission to do so. If it was her father I hope the relationship can be salvaged in the future.

@SteveAckerman-ly3qg I must have missed it. Thanks. I hope we see the other 7 songs they wrote/recorded prior to Old Enough. Does Republic own the original 8 song recordings, assuming that all of them got to that point? If those recordings are available, I wonder if Angelina can make the decision on whether to release them at her own or someone else's expense. I recall watching a live stream with Angelina when someone came and told her and Juliette that they couldn't play the whole song from Old Enough that she was playing in the studio control room. She seemed surprised when she heard that. Wasn't it Taylor Swift that re-recorded her songs so that she would own the master recordings? I think she is with Republic also, or am I still confused? I have been thinking about what you said about Angelina being someone who you almost always enjoyed listening to as opposed to just a few songs by others that you would like. I think you are describing my experience as well, and I doubt upon further reflexion that listening to other artists that are new to me is likely to change that. There is just something that I can't describe that is generally "missing" when listening to other singers after listening to so many of Angelina's songs.
My theory, that I said to other reactors, after reacting to the Hotel Cafe version, is that she has no time for a relationship right now, she is too busy with her music. The song might be about one person but I think it could be directed towards anyone who wants to start a relationship with her. No one can compete with her dedication to her music right now, she would be a bad valentine to anyone who tries to start one. I can understand the desire to want to please her, I mean, just look at her but hey, they couldn’t match the passion she has for her work. She doesn’t need or want a puppy dog following her around. I’m sure one day when her career has settled down and she meets someone who has the same kind of passion for his work as she has for hers and can treat her as an equal, she would be a great valentine. Anyway, that is my theory and I’m sticking to it if, in fact, most of the lyrics are hers. It still isn’t clear to me if they are her lyrics or Toby’s.

For interviews on the radio, The Texas Based national talk radio personality, Michael Berry is a fan of AJ, And as being a REAL talent, and had played A full angelina song as an intro during his show about a year ago... I forget which song , but it may have been an original. He appreciates her.
I seriously think he should do an interview with the two of them because I believe his audience will all love her, If they don't know of her already.

People forget she is a masterful storyteller. "Bad Valentine" may not even be personal. It's a great story though
I’m glad that she put out this more mainstream version, and, for me, the vocals on the slower acoustic version are just mind-blowing. You hear a level of grit and passion and soulfulness that you don’t quite hear in this one. The live version of this we heard at the Alex Theatre brings back a lot of that passion and soul, though. Check out Toby’s great video of that performance with audio from the mixing board. That one is a close second for me to the acoustic one. And I can’t wait for the apparently even more stripped down version, complete with narrative video, coming in Oct. 4!
Toby Gad is certainly doing all he can to promote "Bad Valentine". The video of this song from the concert, posted on Toby's RUclips channel is very high quality and has become my favorite. This music video is quite good but of course it is impossible to beat Angelina live. Toby will release the Piano Diaries music video of "Bad Valentine" on October 4th. Having so many versions of this great song makes sense, since everyone can choose their favorite.
I think it is worth trying to get NPR to interview Angelina and/or have her do a Tiny Desk concert.
Although I can see how the e.P reaction was your all time favorite from your point of view.I think my favorite reaction that you did, for me to watch, was when you finally did CREEP cover , by Hayley Reinhart, with post modern jukebox....
As to your comments that were transcribed… I think you are spot-on! There are numerous other videos where Angelina’s feelings are analogous to the song’s theme… not a literal translation or transferral of feelings.
