We are Hoosiers. Steak 'N Shake was based in Indiana for years (not sure where corporate is now). At one time we had two of our children as store managers for SS. We've loved their food and service. We're in our 70's. When SS stopped doing table service we quit going.
I remember when they had waitresses came to the table and took your order. .😎😎
I love how you mixed in the classic commercials. My VA doctors office is in Sevierville so guess where I go to treat myself after a vist to the doc? You guessed it, I go to Steak N Shake. They do have great burgers. Thanks again for another great episode of the J & B Show

Hi, I know that there are not many true butchers shop, anymore! If you have one, ask for them to grind up steak trimmings?! It is usually a little less expensive, great flavor?! It should be close to the burger flavor you are commenting on?! I live in the northeast and saving is so necessary! Thank-You both! God-Bless!

Steak and shake went there as child, loved cheeseburger, and chilli , spaghetti three ways, I used to have soup, I think chicken noodle, tiny french fries, oyster crackers, first place I had them

I worked 2nd shift in Daytona Beach, FL back in the late 90’s and thinking about getting a shake after work got me through some hectic days.😅😂I always loved the chocolate malt. They used to serve them in reusable plastic cups. I had a ton. Haven’t been there in years.

I used to live very close to a 24 hour Steak & Shake. They always had coupons. I'd get the double steakburger with cheese with lettuce, tomato, and mayo only. Really good, love burgers with the crispy edges.

Steak and Shake is my favorite fast food restraunt! I love the taste of their burgers and their shakes are beyond perfect! When I used to pick my daughter up from her Mom's in Indianapolis, we always stopped at Steak and Shake it was our thing! ( yes she was my step- daughter, but we have no such thing in our relationships with our kids!!!) It made it special because we had a three and a half hour ride home! We listened to boy bands on the ride home and laughed and giggled the whole way! I like to think it helped me build a strong relationship with my husband's daughter! It did, she's given me 4 wonderful grandbabies!
Any way Steak and Shake is also my favorite because it goes back to my own childhood. It was the ONLY fast food restaurant my Dad would eat at. No McDonalds, Hardees or Wendys at our house. Occasionally he'd stop by Mr. Quick's Hamburger Stand on his way home from work and get burgers and fries.
My favorite meal at Steak and Shake is the Frisco Melt, it is the best! I rarely eat heavy and it's the perfect size for me. You can order it as a double in some locations.

Lots of Steak N Shake restaurants went out of business around here (Michigan) with COVID. We had 3 and I think there is maybe 1 left. Thanks for the video.

childhood delight in st. louis, mo, with one located very close to my home. i recall they toasted thir buns. was yours toasted. i also recall a hot pepper in vinegar condiment on the table. did not see. hey are not the same as when i was growing up. 3 way chili with pasta was a delight.

We ate at that exact Steak ‘n Shake a couple years ago, and it was so dirty. Even the chairs were sticky. It took us a while to find a clean table. I didn’t want to stay and eat, but we stayed. The guy that was suppose to be cleaning the table was just standing around watching everyone looking for a clean table. I have no idea how many tables I saw him clean with the same dish cloth. Food was okay, but honestly the dirty restaurant turned me away. We left there and never have eaten there again. It looked clean when you were there, hopefully they have fixed their problems.

Awwww, my parents used to save the grease and oil to reuse later in coffee cans and mayo jars too when i was a kid. It's funny the things we remember from our childhood and how thrifty people were back then.

Coming from Wyoming we went to a steak and shake.. My husband always loved getting the shake…We went to the one in Indiana..but it’s now closed down..The folks in there said none of the workers didn’t like making the shakes…. They had the best shakes…The burgers are like smash burgers like how I make mine.

THIS is the place we all went after a concert in the 70's at 1 am! Luckily we still have one in my town. I doordash it often--$4 for a double steakburger with cheese and fries comeon now! And nobody beats their chili!!!!!!!! (I like mine 3 way) We love to see a value menu being shared!

Your totally right! I used to do the same thing. Once in awhile if we were broke we'd hit White Castle, but most the time it was Steak and Shake!

I love Steak and Shake! They had one in Erie, but it closed 🙁 the closest to me is in Boardman, OH. I love hot dogs that are split and grilled, that is my favorite way to cook them.

They been around forever, in fact, we had Steak N’ Shake Restaurants since, the 70s and, yet, the chain actually started back in the 50’s The chain of Steak N’ Shake Restaurants came out of Indiana! It really has changed since, the pandemic! The menu has down sized and, a lot of things are no longer on the menu. They had what’s known as bean crock you could get for your side choices, the way they would say it was kind of funny. But, now they done away with the bean crock and, was sad to see it go cause, they had the best baked beans! Are’s hear in Indiana started going down hill a few yrs before the pandemic and, needless to say here in Indiana the ordering system changed to like that of vending machine. They have always been known for having the best milk shakes. They used to always have a good fruit milk shake, course, most of the time, I always would get my favorite which is Strawberry Banana!

Oh love Steak & Shake ! Food is so good, it takes you back to another place in time. I've been in the one in Rock Hill, S.C. Love Chili dogs, but I have never had one here,maybe next time. Thank you for bringing us along, and blessings always.

We just back from Pigeon Forge! It was beautiful!! We’ve never eaten at Steak ‘n Shake, but probably will next time for sure.
I’m so glad to see y’all also do these smaller places that are a little more economical and not sure huge portions. I love that the shakes are “normal”, not “over the top!”
I still love to watch all the other videos, for sure, but being older (retired) we can’t eat such large meals nor always afford them.

Love steak n shake. They give you lots of fries. Monday thru Friday shakes are half price 😋 yummy. They use to run food out to your car. I mean literally run. I always want the double no onion fries $4.00

I absolutely love how you always show the old commercials! You are right! Need to get a milkshake! 😋Sadly our Steak and Shake here has gone downhill. You have to order on a Kiosk and they call out your number and you have to walk up and get your order. The tables were dirty, we ordered chili and had to ask for spoons and crackers

Just ate at steak and shake this weekend. The burgers were good as always. All the ones around here are now a kiosk order which is fine cause service at steak and shake was always terrible!! But…no cherry syrup for the coke and no fry seasoning!! I was looking forward to the cherry coke!

We had a Steak and Shake here in Jackson Tn but they closed along with all the other stores that S and S closed. Ours had gotten really terrible. I'd love to have a good S and S burger though and some chili.

Are’s here in the small town of Lawrenceburg,IN hasn’t closed yet, I grew up on Steak N’ Shake so, it’s really sad that most of them went down hill before the pandemic. Here the ordering system changed! But, it’s good to see one up and running and doing well, just bring that one down here to Indiana!
@@sonyafox3271 ours was in bad shape long before the pandemic. The last time we ate there pur waitress came and took our order. Then after our food didn't show up for about an hour I went and found someone and asked cause we hadn't seen her since she took the order. She had walked out and quit. I guess it never occurred to management that someone needed to take care of her tables. We saw the waitress for the table next to us 3 or 4 times but she never thought to check. We've both worked in retail and food service earlier in our lives so we've learned to be patient but man that was an experience..lol
One of my girlfriends eat there all the time. She loves their chili & shakes. Real meat not processed!

We are Aussies so we don't get any of this stuff here. We are coming to pigeon forge next year and would love some reviews of the average stuff eg Waffle House, Cracker Barrel, Dennys, ihop. I know these are boring every day places to average Americans but to us they are special. We have been to Dennys and Ihop before in L.A. but everywhere is different when it comes to standard of service and sometimes menu items. Love your work guys and we LOVE the USA.

I remember there old menu with the fries and more variety of shakes and burgers. We used too have 2 here in VB but 2 years ago they shut down and moved also the 2 in Richmond. The ones in Toledo closed last time I visited about 5 yrs ago. There was one in Sandusky on 250 way too CP. Not sure if it’s still there. I enjoyed there products. Now I know when I visit we can visit the one in Severville. Thanks 4 UR review

I love Steak ‘n Shake, but the location near me isn’t good at all. I usually grab lunch there at that one in Sevierville, because it’s been consistent for us so far. I love the butter burgers and the chili Mac.

We always enjoyed stop at a Steak n Shake when traveling. We now have one in our town. The original home of Steak n Shake is Normal, IL the location of Illinois State University where my husband graduated.

That looked really good. In the Cleveland area here and will have to check if the ones around here are still open since I haven't been by one lately. Used to go there for breakfast and they would make the pancakes fresh, had a busy drive-thru and a counter where you could sit. Plus they had waiters/waitresses.

Food looked great hey John question. As a kid shakes were milk and flavored syrup blended. A frappe was milk syrup and ice cream blended Is it the same ???? There were shakes and frappes.I guess they all have ice cream now over the years
Most places use ice cream today I think. I used to just take scoops of ice cream and put nestle quik in it and stir up. The good old days. 😎😎

There was once a Steak-n-Shake in Robinson twp, behind the old Showcase Cinemas. Not sure why they closed down. Great food, but the best milkshakes for sure!
