Should you be able to tilt the steering wheel with the ignition switch and key cylinder removed? I removed my switch that went bad. It or the key cylinder went bad. Anyway, I can’t get the switch to fit back flush. There is web like covered piece at the bottom of the opening the switch goes in that seems to be a little out of position and keeping the switch from fitting flush. Any idea what that piece is? I think it has an Irving at the end of it.
My key is stuck in ignition because truck won’t go all the way into park, I pushed real hard into park and the ignition released the key . Is there something in colum that would stop me from getting it into park? Thanks
Were you taking this apart to fix something? Or just to show how it all comes apart? Did I miss something? I need to fix the tilt wheel so thank goodness I don't need to do all this!
design flaw for the Second gen Dodge Ram, they used brittle plastic that after about 10 years of drying out in the hot sun, the dash cracks and breaks apart I was also replacing the heater core, and cleaning out the air ducts. In order to replace the dashboard I needed to drop the entire stearing column down to lift the dash over the top. I didn't want the columns plastic to break too so I just removed everything.
Are you sure? The screws are star, not Phillips or blade. If it's stripped go grab a fat rubber band put it over the top of your driver and push it hard into the stripped star screw. The rubber band will fill the void enough to free the screw. Go to the hardware store and get a replacement screw , do not ever put a stripped screw into plastic.
I never took the lever out of the column. The handle is installed with an allen wrench (hexagon) i found mine on Amazon. I hope that helps. My instructions should help you at least get inside the column box.
Torcks is a very muddy word, has really no clear sylabol I prefer Tor-X when making videos for this purpose... you also understood me. Thank you for commenting your correction is noted.
This is the kind of video that when you need you really need it. Good upload thanks!
You are welcome, thanks for watching.
my 2001 Cummins is a T-20 for the screws so make sure you check them both before you go home like I did
You can use a 7/64 Allen wrench if you don’t have a long torx like me.
Did you happen to post the video about adding the filter or the airbox rebuild?

Where is the rest of the video?
How do you replace the gear shifter on the steering column?

@@glencouls Actually this is great - I had no idea about the 4th TORX25 screw. Sneaky bastards. Even back in 1994 they hated us DYIers. LOL!
@GregJoshuaW they don't want people working on there own stuff that's for sure.
Where did you get the white face for the ac control
EBay! They make gauge kits for diesel and gas gauge pods. This came with my white gauge pod kit so everything matched.
What kind of screws are those I need some
T25, 2 course, one fine.
It’s pronounced torques not tore-x.

That’s was a very adult way of replying to criticism
I also pronounce it torques, but it's cool - at least we know what it is.
Shes a v10 truck!!
Yes, yes she is. Can pass everything but a gas station.
@@glencouls LOL!
