Okay so I'm having a problem, when I type "DISKPART> active" I get this message saying "The selected disk is not a fixed MBR disk. The ACTIVE command can only be used on fixed MBR disks."

are there any other partitions on your disk? If you do not have a MBR disk (master boot record) you have a GPT (Globally Unique Identifers Partition Table) Disk, which does not need to be set as active. Try proceeding and ignore the error. Skip the step and let us know how it goes
