      how can you decrypt the file?

    • @RudyBleeker
      @RudyBleeker 7 лет назад +5

      +SaadB12 files are automatically decrypted for the logged in user when you open them, so you can work with them. But if you really want to decrypt them permanently you can probably do that with the "cipher" command again. My guess is "cipher /D" should do the trick, but I don't use Windows so I can't check. Also I think you get a decrypted version of the file if you make a copy, but I'm not sure about that either.

      Though piping to clip is volatile. Output to a static file:
      Overwrite/create a log file from output:
      mycommand > mynewfileoutput.log
      Add to an existing log output with a command:
      mycommand >> myappendedoutput.log

    There is one more interesting thing about CMD that not everyone knows.
    CMD is very respectful of your file shortcut.
    If you create a shortcut for your batch script and associate it with a custom icon, then the console window launched by this shortcut will take not only the shortcut name in the window header, but also the selected icon. I don't think any other file (like a text file) behaves like this.

      it's not a real bash shell though, you know this. There's a ton missing, and you have to go through hoops to get out of the sandbox, and bash in a sanbox isn't safe, it's kinda pointless man.

      +m0sley you nailed it on why Microsoft chose to put bash into Windows 10. MS was losing developers to Linux and macOS because they are much easier to use with tools like Git, Python and other stuff that's all the rage with developers right now. So they had to act. I doubt they will do anything further with it like add more features, my bet is they'll leave that up to the community.

    If you need to specify a file as a cmd argument which is somwhere else on the file system you can drag the file icon from the explorer into the cmd window. It will insert the complete filename in Quotes into the cmd prompt, e.g. "C:\Users\test\Desktop\test.txt".

    The old way I’ve been using since Windows 95/NT4 to navigate the Command Prompt to an already open explorer folder is this:
    1. Type cd and space in cmd.exe / Command.com
    2. Drag the folder to the command window, or even a file. Erase the trailing filename if needed.
    Likewise to do the reverse, opening an explorer window directly from the command prompt:
    1. Just type explorer .,/e (that is dot comma slash e)
