This was the ultimate emo kid album in the early 2000s.
Incredibly real. I remember sneaking peeks at this Music Video back in my 6th grade typing class.

The song is about the tale of King Midas who had the power to turn anything to gold. The album this is on, On Frail Wings of Vanity and Wax, is about Greek and Roman mythology. It’s great day view. Tracks I recommend from it are Three Last Letters, Third Temptation of Paris, and This Conversation is Over. Thanks for the reaction!

The screamer (Dennis Lee) was such a good vocalist in his prime!! I love how you really picked up so many details throughout the song, especially pointing out the awesome screams/growls.

Now i'm 25 and Alesana is still a very Important Band to me 🖤
What makes Alesana differs their uniqueness in musicality is they are one of the few post-hardcore/metalcore/screamo bands where the screams also blends with the clean vocals even in high pitches, and those screams still sounds like exactly uttering the words.
That's what makes Dennis Lee a unique kind of a screaming vocalist, especially in this era.
I met this song in 2016 and I thought it was crazy too. Thanks for the reaction. Other people need to hear this screamo classic.
My high school years from 04 to 08. Alesana was one of my favorites when I was a scene kid.

That's the first song I ever heard from them..I was hooked.. their 1st album and 2nd album was amazing...I didn't really keep track after that, but for a year straight, alesana is all I listened to.
I got to sing cleans with Milke at a show in 2008 in Altoona Pennsylvania. Pulled me up on stage. It was incredible

Long time Alesana fan since 04. I like to see people reacting to it. This type of music just won't sell anymore but holy hell they were my fave bands for years on end. Still consider them in my top 5 even now that I'm almost 30 years old xD

These guys were kind of an acquired taste compared to your standard Emo/Post-Hardcore bands at the time.
I describe their style a little bipolar since they're all over the place sometimes.
Loved everything off of this album. Haven't heard any of their later stuff but they are definitely talented people and they're still doing their thing.
Now that I'm listening to this song again, it's almost as if they're pitched shifted but that was all them!
Another band you might like that's similar is Chiodos.
