Yeah it has good balance despite what everyone has to say look at marvel rivals it’s not balanced at all though that is its charm for me right now but it will wear off and the honeymoon phase will be over and I’ll probably end up playing ow2 again
@@Tamalezs True but to be fair, you are comparing a game bassically on its day one patch with an almost 10 year old game (god i hate saying that) with that much time worth of patches. I'd say my worst problem with rivals is its optimization. The game litteraly cant keep up with how chaotic the fights can be. Dr. Strange puts up a portal and my game becomes a slideshow, so much so that my friend who plays strange doesnt even use the portal really.
I feel like no one either admits to or realizes just how well tuned the core game play is, and I'm not talking about hero balance. I'm talking about fundamental stuff like movement, physics, and shooting. The core game play is just unbelievably tight and responsive while still being deliberate. Pair this with great hero design and it's just naturally going to be fun. Despite there being other competitors and hero shooters out there, to me nothing plays like overwatch. There is no other fps letting me go mach5 on a wrecking ball in a competitive environment that involves strategy. The movement heroes in this game are just too good and too fun, I get a rush playing them that I can't find anywhere else. Then in ranked the better you get the more relentless the pace of the game is, even on non movement heroes, and it only ever feels like it wants to go faster. Shit's addicting and I love it even despite its flaws.
It's because the game is good, it's the bad matchmaking and other players that make it unfun. Also people just hype hating, thats why i dont listen to whatever randoms or content creators says and judge for myself
I think it's understated how much stronger the game has been since the Microsoft acquisition. The money gouging has been reduced. The dev's rapidly address problems. All the fun collabs. Transparency in dev choices and trying new ideas (6v6/5v5 tests). The esports is in the best state in years. Constant new content. Map reworks addressing long-standing problems. Everyone focuses on the PVP cancellation and the expensive cosmetics (which yes are annoying) but don't address how fun the game is that they've got. On the cosmetics yes they feel really expensive and its sad you cant get everything but once you accept that skin collecting is dead you realise you often don't want or need to buy the skins. My only complaint is the loss of the cinematics. It feels as though cinematics are only used as a promotional tool rather than to further the story or deepen the lore like they used to. Just gotta be delulu and hope we got some arcane style content in the pipeline but I doubt it somehow. Everyone always says overwatch is dying but forget it went 3 years without content and stayed strong due to fun and varied gameplay and a good balance team (even if they were a little slow)
I would like to add that the social aspect also plays a big part. I have found a lot of my friends by playing quickplay in overwatch 1 and just enjoying the game and goofing around. Overall the community that has been built is exactly the thing you mentioned: Most of the players love the game and the heroes it created and just want it to succeed. All the fanart (especially the nsfw content) is huge and all the lore behind it makes it such a big appeal for people and want to learn more (We all just want more cinematics or a series, don't we?). Also the time invested makes a lot of people hesitant to move away from the game as all these hours that have sunk into it aren't there in other games, especially those that played during overwatch 1 when you could've earned every skin by just playing enough/watching enough overwatch league. Of course this all changed with overwatch 2 changing it's approach and making it harder, but overall all these skins and sprays a player has earned during their playtime just would feel bad to waste on.
My first kill was a Sombra who was invisible to get away after failing to dive a Zen 😂 and it was a stray bullet of trying to defend myself against a tracer
honestly it's like our love hate relationship with our parents/loved ones. you only know to hate the ones you love because deep down, you hope/wish/want for them to be better and to improve!
And then when their bitterness from never making it to Overwatch League, also doesn't get them a paycheck from the publisher of marvel rivals for glazing it, they'll also start shitting on the game. There's no way that any sane human being can praise such a jank game that not only plays like garbage, but runs like garbage, if they aren't on some impending dellor type breakdown.
that's what I'd say about ow1, it's what I said back during ow1, but now it's deserved lmao I still wish I could play ow1, fucking bs that they deleted the game that we paid for (they could've just not updated it and left it to die)
I've been in OverWatch player since 2017 I stopped playing when it went free to play after I pre-ordered it for $60 I stopped playing a few years later me and a friend of mine decided to download the game and talking about the story that could have been we really loved the characters that is important to the story
You're right about the Genji phase, I have over 2,800 hours in this game and have been playing since 2019 and till this day genji is still my second most played character with over 200 hours( hanzo is my first with 800 hours).... Which is weird because I haven't played him since like mid 2020 lol.
i played some marvel rivals, its cool but i dont see myself switching over to it and i dont even think its a competitor for overwatch the game is too different
It's not that we hate the game per say, it's more that we're frustrated with the fact that the devs don't listen and buff the characters who provide the most frustration and then give us a bull crap reason for why they buffed them, their balancing philosophy is terrible they shouldn't be balancing based off win rate because it hasn't worked for 8 years
Honestly as someone who had stepped away from the game like 2 years ago and has come back due to The Classic mode and honesty Im just focused on having fun and Ive learned something. If I just worry about haveing fun, win or lose its a blast for me. Note I don't normally play Comp as I prefer to play in a group for it if I can. But if your focused on winning and getting the big plays your gonna hate the game but your gonna hate any game where you focus on that. Just have fun and do your best. Ive had fun on days where I've play 10 games and only won one game. So for as nice as it is to win, that should never be the point. Side note: to all people who get mad in unranked games, I think you need to take this to heart.
lets just say OW is like LoL we hate playing LoL but we love the art and the other shit so yea we love ow art and shit but yea WE HATE PLAYING THIS GAME
I like to think the problem is we're all just too good at it. Like 8 years of people figuring out how to play the game has caused our skill level to be too high
There's alot that depresses me about Overwatch 2, and what Blizzard does now compared to launch. But, the game still has a flow I enjoy. I've felt for years it'll be the last competitive game I ever play, because I don't care for any other one out there like I do for this. And some day in the next few years, I want to make an earnest climb to gm, just to prove to myself I can put the work in to improve from being garbage in cod, halo, etc., when I was younger.
I don’t hate the game. It has some issues, some bad decisions have been made, but I have a lot of fun playing. I think a lot of people who “hate” the game only say so because hating the game is cool.
Good video but the thumbnail needs work! I found this on the homepage and the title made me click, although others might need a better thumbnail. This is a 10k video easy.
Thank you so much for letting me know! I have to admit, thumbnails are not my strong suit so I really appreciate the feedback!!! I changed it, hopefully it's a bit better now!
Addiction, good gameplay loop, FOMO, and attachment to the characters is my guess. For me, the last one was the most impactful. But once I quit, found myself a good indie game to sink my teeth and lore-hungry brain, it doesn't feel as important/impactful anymore.
@@Cocopanache Right now, Windblown, a fast-paced roguelike with a beautiful world and super snappy combat. Don't even need to watch the video and I have the answer: Most youtubers make videos with inflamatory opinions to gather an audience and, despite some arguments being valid, most of them aren't. Which generates discussion, which generates views and traffick to their pages and so on and so forth. There are people that make "why i'm quitting OW" bait videos every week to generate views. There are good free skins you can earn in the free battlepass. But that's not even the point. The thing is, these same people will flip on Marvel Rivals once the cracks start to form, same way they turned on every other hero shooter. The thing is, people take this game too seriously. Its a casual game, with some loose lore and cinematics. And you know, I'm guilty of that too, taking it all too seriously (especially with the release of Hazzard, the new character. Embarassing moment for me tbh), but at teh end of the day, it's a game. You don't need to play it if you don't like it. And't it's kinda funny to see people in the comment sections of OW videos talking about Marvel Rivals saying how "they had much more fun" and "it's so much better than OW" and yet they are still are consuming OW content. If they added Junkestein Lab as perma mode i can forget pve cancellation.
