The latter has Mick Ronson(David Bowie, Ian Hunter) on guitar. His guitar work is outstanding on it and as always inventive and ahead of its time especially hi s first solo. Haven't even listened yet, but you had me at "Brandi Carlile singing Elton John". Thumbs up, now relax and bliss out. So, now that I've listened, yes, it's frigging brilliant. But mad propz must go to the O.G. string arranger, Paul Buckmaster, who arranged the strings for Elton John's "Madman Across The Water" album (which is the first album I ever bought - I had good taste). Brandi and team deliver a faithful, and passionate reading very close to the original. But it's like playing Sgt Pepper (or Beethoven) - it's okay to play the original and just put your own seasoning on it, rather than try to do something completely different.

Great Elton John tune! Think I caught an equally killer version of Brandi playing this on Austin City Limits a year or two back. Bruce Hornsby has a great version on the "Two Rooms" Elton John / Bernie Taupin tribute album.

Check out both versions of this tune on the Elton John reissue. The original recording that was released on the album Madman Across the Water featured the guitar work of Chris Spedding and the unreleased version that was on the reissue featured Mick Ronson. Michael, if you have never heard this masterpiece album from 1971 you owe it to yourself to hear it. Surely you know Levon and Tiny Dancer??

Aw, Brandi was the last show I saw before the lockdowns started, almost a year ago, now. Her stage setup usually doesn't involve a drummer or keyboard player; it's just her and the Hanseroth twins, who handle all the percussion on their stomp boxes. Somehow, that's more than enough to fill a 5,000-seat musical theater. Show was amazing, and I can't wait to get back out there.

Hi. First time watching you. Brandi Carlile is a Grammy award winning artist. The 2 guitar 🎸 players are twin brothers. The 3 of them are the entire band. They do have the same drummer mostly. The other players just join in on tour.
