Best hour and a quarter I’ve invested in a podcast for a long time. First time I have watched so appreciated the interview style and thought Iain was a tremendous guest and story teller with at least another one book in him! It’s a shame you missed out first time around but a mark of you both to go through it again and get it finished 💪
@@BehindTheCurtainPodcast- 100% - myself and my other half are watching the Pete Best one - there’s a lot of thought behind the folks you’re inviting and you deserve a wider following pal - all the best!
I was 14/15 when Oasis brought out Definitely Maybe. They were the first guitar band I ever got into as I was into hip hop before then. I became obsessed. The clothes, the attitude,I started playing guitar and they got me into loads of other bands because they would name check so many in interviews. I was lucky enough to see them live numerous times between 95-2009. Those gigs between 95-2002 were the best because there was no mobile phones and the gigs were pretty cheap compared to today. I got a ticket stub from Earls Court in 97 when the Verve supported for £20.
There’s not been many bands who’ve had the impact they’ve had on music and fashion! I bet they were great times seeing Oasis all those years, do any gigs stand out? And like you say £20 to see Oasis & The Verve is crazily cheap compared to the prices of concerts today
@@BehindTheCurtainPodcast- one of the best gigs I went to was at TJ’s Newport in 1994. Supergrass supported by the Bluetones..I’ve still got the ticket which was…..🥁 £5
@@woofdog1525 I saw them on the same tour at the Crypt in Hastings 😂😂 My mate did the gig photos. After the gig, I sat at the bar talking to Danny Goffey. I didn't have a clue who he was 😂😂 At great era saw loads of bands. I was at Earl Court in ‘95 for the morning glory tour.
Eh up Robbo! Stayed at yrs when I was touring with Nigel Mogg (Quireboys) and the Peckham Cowboys! Good 2 hear from ya here, fab show 'ere...God bless m8. Marc ❤
I love and am unsurprised to hear that Banarama went so hard, lol. Great interview. I'd be curious to know if @iainrobertson381 thought that Liam's aggressiveness in that period during 1995 was born of insecurity; It was Liam's band in the first place, then Noel elevated them to success - and as Iain mentioned, Noel was more than happy enough to take the spotlight when the occasion arose. I sort of suspect that Noel was psychologically bullying his younger brother for having that presence and voice that the elder just didn't have. Any thoughts Iain?
Damn , I’m a Yank, This Guy literally has worked with all me faves, Lydon , Liam , Marc Almonds, sisters of Mercy!!!! Etc!!! Great interview…. Write a Book mate!!! 🤙🏽
What a good interview. Very articulate and honest. Good to see it from Ian’s view. Well done interviewer for not interrupting. To be a fly on the window when Noel smashed out What’s the Story on the bus man. Gonna get the book. Would love to have it signed mate 👍🏻
@@BehindTheCurtainPodcast- Ah nice one mate thanks for the heads up. Will go check that out now. Brought a few Oasis stuff from Microdot, Brian Cannon their sleeve designer.
No worries mate! Brian sells a lot of great things through his Microdot store/website! What did you get? Also, Brian was one of my first guests on here, let me know what if you think if you check that podcast episode out!
@@BehindTheCurtainPodcast- Nice I can see now your interview with him I’ll watch that on the way to work tomorrow morning. I brought the Definitely Maybe hand signature from him. Looks amazing. Saw Noel at Royal Albert Hall this year and Liam at 02. Really loved what Brian did with the writing around the stadium, got a few photos. Used to see Noel in Baker Street but was always to scared to go up and say hello lol
Great interview. I shall be buying the book. My take on which iteration of the band should take the stage...I love what Tony did on the debut but he wouldn't do the WTSMG material justice. Whitey had technique and flourish that those songs demand and Tony couldn't deliver, I'm sure. I also doubt Guigsy would do it, so maybe the brothers, Alan, Bonehead, Gem and Andy? Dunno how they'd fit in the extra rhythm guitarist but that's not my problem.
I think it should be Liam, Noel, Bonehead, Guigsy, Alan White. If, as you say, Guigsy wouldn’t do it then I’d put Andy Bell in for him but I wouldn’t substitute any of the others for anybody else
Thank F for cookies and this came on my feed.... THIS IS THE BEST INSIGHT INTERVIEW ON OASIS EVER!!....iain delivered like a don!...and you drew him like milk out of a coconut FANTASTIC INTERVIEW!!.... ....stunned by iains Meticulous analogies ❤
When did he leave the para regiment ? In another interview, he said missed out on joining SFSG. They weren't formed till 2006, so how's that's possible?????
There’s a reason Liam sold 2 nights at Knebworth and Noel plays theatres in Doncaster.. Rock n Roll sells. Middle of the road Neil Young Impressions don’t…
In the 90’a it was imperative to call yourself the best band in the world (and they meant it) No one would listen otherwise! They knew they weren’t the best band in the world but it doesn’t matter. @@iainrobertson381 Hello Iain I read your book back in 2013 and it was very interesting and well written. Also interesting how you looked into the astrological make-up of the band. With Noel's placements (Moon in Aquarius particularly-a placement shared by Lemmy, Eminem, and John Lennon) it made Noel highly adept and empathetic with the public.

To be fair to Noel, I know he doesn’t play shows the size of Knebworth but he does sell out arenas and other big outdoor shows
48:00 I wonder if it will be the case.
It will be interesting to see actually

Is that really Mark Knoffler under that hat ?
Labels on clothes, appropriate as Oasis generated generic, corporate music for the ''masses''.
You need to get more mate. Your overthinking everything enjoy yourself
Sport is soooo boring & pointless.
Was he there when Liam got all his teeth smashed in in Munich?
No mate that happened in 2002, Iain got sacked from Oasis in 1995
