To play chords on the guitar -- any chords in any key -- you don't have to memorize a bunch of chord shapes. Every chord is actually built using the underlying scale patterns in a key. So if you can play scales, you can also play chords ... which you can then combine into progressions.

According to RUclips standards, that video should have teased what you covered in full and made me click a link, enter my email, and sign up for a course that would only be 50% off for the next 10 minutes if I wanted to unlock my music potential. Thank you so much for breaking the mold.

Oh ok, I get it a little more now, like the piano, if you know the 3 notes to make that chord, they repeat up and down the fretboard, and if you know the shapes of those chords, you can cross reference those with other chords or barre those in reference to its relative chord shape or position. 🤯😱
THIS IS WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR 🔥 YES !
Now I can make my own songs, starting with single note melodies and then create the chord in that position or octave higher or barre the chord to get the sound I want all over the fret board wow !
    CAGED !!!! Got it …… 😎
AWESOME JOB MIKE GEORGE 🏆🥇 👏🏾

It my first time finding a good lesson like this, though it kinda hard for me to understand all of this, I still will be able to use it because this is what i am asking for life now. hehhe
I downloaded it and gonna rewatch as much untiI I understand it all while practice the chord.
It definitely the legit lesson I am trying to find.😭
It just came up to my mind that I believe that this the very foundation of learning guitar than learning chord one by one.

Very nice and helpful. But to play the really (I call them 'tasty' songs) too eventually have to learn all of those classic 'jazz standards; here are some must know jazz tunes: 'Autumn Leaves', 'There will never be another you', 'Sunny', 'Take the A Train' and even Rand Bachman's 'Looking Out of Number One' which he learned from master jazz guitarist 'Lenny Breau'. 'Misty' is another nice tune. I'm naming these as they are not too complex and thus quite learnable. But they introduce you to those next tier of flavourful, jazzy chords which will step up your playing a couple of important musical notches so to speak. After all, music is language, communication. Once you learn these extra jazzy chords, you will feel like you are playing at a whole new level. You'll feel like a much more accomplished guitarist. Chords such as: flat fifths, suspended, augmented, sharp sevenths, minor ninths, F(bass note)/Am7, and a few more of these sort of chords.

Thank you, as a musician myself, you have given me a light bulb moment or two. Lol,
My biggest problem is not so much the music theory, as it is trying to learn the fret board in a way I don't even have to think, just do it.
I realize some things take a little longer to grasp on too, but , my desire to learn lead & playing solo's, and turn around I am working hard to get it accomplished. Lol
Thanks bud, I appreciate a good musician with knowledge as yourself.
God bless, keep the video's coming! 🙂🙏🎸🎸🎸

I’d like to disagree with what’s been said here. As much as the quality of information being given in this video is top notch, the delivery style can be questioned. It was extremely difficult to follow along as a beginner trying to understand chord formation. You spoke too fast. The illustrations were difficult to follow. There was a lot that was left unsaid. This video could’ve been delivered in a simpler manner. Good stuff still, but there’s a ton of people who may not be able to follow.
