I can remember when Walmart had the best yarn selection around, even better than the craft stores. However, that was before the Walmart became such big stores. They also had some ofxthe BEST jams, jellies, coffees and salsas around. AHH, those were the good old days. I remember going to Walmart with my kids when they were small and them taking their hamsters along for hamster races. My daughter's won 1st and my son's won 2nd one time. They were so excited. And i am dating all this by saying i am 74 and a great-grandma now😂. Now every Walmart I go to has a pathetic yarn selection 😢.
We never realize what we have until we see these types of comments. I feel like comparatively, we don't have much yarn in our walmarts, however, it probably seems quite a bit from where you stand! We are pretty fortunate. 😍
I’m sorry, but every Walmart I’ve been in, and I’ve been in a lot in 3 states, has a PATHETIC selection of yarn. And I use the word “selection” loosely! It is purely disappointing and I don’t know why they even bother at all. They can’t even keep their small stations of yarn stocked!
The only upside to some of the especially pathetic yarns selection stores is if you use the app to scan yarns you might find some good clearance options. My closest Walmart had also recently rearranged the store so the yarn was a total disaster. But I found $1.50 mandala sequin skeins, some $1 crochet thread, and something else I’m blanking on that was mysteriously on clearance only at that location. Might have been a Premier yarn. I had a similar experience at a different grocery megastore (Meijer if you’re in the Midwest. Though I’ve been to three and two had nice yarn aisles but the third with the really bad selection was where I scored). I again got cheap mandala and found some skeins of Coboo that weren’t even scanning so they gave those to me for 30 cents! I think the mandala was in the system but ringing up at 50 cents! Basically the worse the selection the better the chance of weird deals.
Where I live I think that it's whose in charge of a department that determines what you might find. The Walmart closest to me has a small selection of any yarn and you have to get the dust off the skeins. Dare I say that's Bloomington, MN. They also carry no fabric whereas if I go to two other ones I find more yarn and fabric. The WalMart that really had the most has closed. So frustrating.
I love the mainstays yarn! I just wish there were more color options. It's cheaper, there is more of it and it has a luxurious texture and quality. The crochet thread is used for doillies, tablecloths, market bags and many othwr applications.
Walmart please do better with yarn in Atlanta,Georgia and crochet tool, accessories. Thank you Sales Mgr arrange your shelves and organize them to the front before you come on air next time.
Our local Walmart has about the same but no selection. We went out of town to Walmart and it was pitiful. There was one skien of red Mainstays yarn. The yarn section was about 6 feet wide. Horrible !!! We were on a hunt to find Mainstays yarn. I can't find purple to complete a current project. It's not online either. Anyways, your Walmart is bountiful considering stores near me.😢
I was thinking it’s very poorly stocked and looks like it hasn’t been faced in at least a week. I have 30 yrs in retail, in large stores and this is way below my standards.
Unfortunately Walmart doesn’t have yarn for blouses nor baby clothes, all yarn is only for 4 and 6 mm crochet..even then Walmart doesn’t have a great selection, it is disappointing and it is a shame. I’ve been in Joann Fabrics and Michael’s where you can a little better selection, still the US does NOT have a great selection of yarns. I’ve tried buying yarn in NY, NJ, GA, SC, NC, GA, FL and none, believe me NONE of these states have beautiful yarn as the ones found in México, Spain and even in a small country such as Ecuador, yarn is beautiful with different kinds of textures and materials, sizes colors, to knit beautiful elegant blouses dresses baby clothes.. it’s really a shame.

This was a good day, usually it’s fairly bare. I don’t know why they don’t keep what they do have properly stocked.

I do too.some people I've met give me the stink eye when I say i love it. Lol but then again I haven't had many brands

Our Walmart usually looks like the haven’t straightened the yarns in a month or so. They do carry a few cotton cone yarns at a very good price.
Same in my stores in the UK people have no respect and let their kids play about with the yarns
We don't have any workers who do anything but stock shelves and checkout.

WOW! Where are you located? I’m lucky if our Walmarts have two brands and only a few colors. The shelves are sparse and maybe 1/2 an aisle.
