Yeeooowww!!! This is smokin'. That first cut, with Wardell on tenor and Buddy DeFranco on clarinet-I had to listen to it five times before I could go on! This is a treasure-magnificent! And Buddy De's still doin' it-at 90!!! Thank you so much for posting this!!!

These are sounds that brought me into the world of jazz, yes it was jump blues when I came upon it in '67 at 19 years old. I'll never not love to hear the cats they made you feel better. I sure do miss the Count - Rest in Peace my beautiful musical Papa on your birthday!!!

I hope Matthew is as young as his picture indicates. I'm almost 63 and was weaned pretty much on the pre and post Beatles era pop music but love digging for golden older music and The Count's music is truly a timeless nugget from the past. Just a cursory view of the video and it's very obvious those people loved his music! Tell all your young friends about this music!!!

No mixing boxes, no 2nd takes, all acoustic and vocal. A band dancing with their instruments. Amazing.

Rock n roll before rock n roll. My man Basie. Had a great Basie record as a kid. I may still have it but -- then-- it was a huge jolt of fun! It was the utmost, man. Love this amazing band and this man who brought that sound and talent to our ears.

He sounds just as good as when I saw him live many times in Detroit 65 or 70 years ago. I think may have been more enthusiastic back then playing to a live audience of teen jitterbugs. Hamps boogie was one of the best. Vern Lauterbach Lansing Mi.

Strange that at some points the audio and video seem to be out of sync, could have been because they are playing in playback mode (which I 99,999 pct doubt ) or this gem is so old that it is difficult to avoid, or the upload brought it like this. Still Thanks a million for bringing this treasure to us all.

Great to see Fats Waller in action, another one of my favourites. A great stride pianist, organist, composer and singer. Sadly poor Fats burned himself out and died on a train, during a USA tour, in 1943. He was only 39 years old. Another jazz giant who died far too young.

I assume this is the Basie nonette (?) from the 1950 period. Fantastic, but hard to find recordings of this group. Buddy De Franco was at his best. Basie was a God. I love the Basie Boogie. It is as good as it gets. Always fascinating to get a boogie woogie from a great stride pianist.
