Basie Boogie is re-done (a bit slower) in one of HBO's "Classical Baby" series of DVDs ... Mmy special needs daughter (age 17) LOVES them, and in particular this tune ... Kudos to HBO ...
Strange that at some points the audio and video seem to be out of sync, could have been because they are playing in playback mode (which I 99,999 pct doubt ) or this gem is so old that it is difficult to avoid, or the upload brought it like this. Still Thanks a million for bringing this treasure to us all.

Great to see Fats Waller in action, another one of my favourites. A great stride pianist, organist, composer and singer. Sadly poor Fats burned himself out and died on a train, during a USA tour, in 1943. He was only 39 years old. Another jazz giant who died far too young.

No mixing boxes, no 2nd takes, all acoustic and vocal. A band dancing with their instruments. Amazing.
I loved Basie's small group experiment, especially Wardell Gray, the tenor man who died too young. Thanks!

I heard him play in Harlem New York about 1971 or 1972. His fingers just floated up and down that piano. He played so we'll.
