Great work Michael. Im sure my Gr Gr grandfather would have been pleased with your great work too. He moved up from London as the head waiter when the Midland opened.
Hi Mark! This is a lovely story. The Midland hotel is such a fabulous building and to have a familial connection with it is really special. Thank you very much indeed for commenting and watching my build! Michael
Thank you so much! I have only just today discovered your truly amazing 1952-set layout. It’s HO scale, but it reminds me so much of Chandwell. It has that same kind of aesthetic. If I can make Chandwell half as good as what you and your friends are making, then I will consider myself successful. I was discussing your photographs with my friend today and we are both blown away by it. There must be thousands of hours of work there… thank you for watching and commenting on Chandwell! Michael
Excellent documentary on the Royal Scott Hotel. Well researched back story. More to the point, great fun. Congratulations on achieving your goal and completing this project. Like everyone else has said, what’s next? Roy.
Wow- i dont think there is anything else to say. love the story behind this amazing constuction, it really brings it to life. looking forward to the next visit to Chandwell
This was a bit of self-indulgent fun indeed! I’m only glad that people seem to have enjoyed it. Maybe not as much as I enjoyed MAKING it though! Michael
Fantastic Michael ! I am convinced that your are building a legendary model railway, because you building the legend into the railway. Great modeling and great story telling.
Absolutely brilliant Michael from start to finish really enjoying your channel giving me great inspiration for a New York City layout am building, have a great weekend 👍
A wonderful video to finish the story of the Royal Scot hotel Michael. It is an absolutely stunning building, and the video gives it a superb backstory which brings Chandwell to life.
Thank you Curlypawz! I really enjoy making up the daft histories, as does one of my close friends, and he’s much better at it than I am. It was a bit of self-indulgent fun, this episode, so I am glad that you enjoyed it! Michael
That is really brilliant Michael. Very well thought out all the way through. The Hotel is the star however, especially with its colourful past. Stephen
Thank you ever so much for agreeing to be a part of this daft video. Your introduction hopefully made a lot of people smile. My wife thinks you were the perfect continuity announcer! Many thanks, Michael
Another High Light Michael. A scratchbuilt with a history very very cool - love it. Now how about a story and the built of the old victorian Chandwell Prison or the infamous Barracks of the Royal Insulting Engeneers ???? Eagerly awaiting just that.
Oh yes!!! Chandwell Prison!!! That is the most “Chandwell” idea since the sewage works!! Definitely one for the list. Just think of the 100 years of fictional characters we could populate it with!!
As always you hit it out of the park. Great way to end this marvelous project. I am looking forward to your next endeavor with the trains. Stay well and thank you for all the great ideas. Otto
That really does look superb, well done! I discovered your channel a couple of days ago whilst browsing for tips on scratch building. I've got a large scenery restoration project in the planning on the indoor model railway at Railworld Peterborough. I plan to scratch build the majority of the new features. I was intending to model almost all of it with textured plastic card but your builds using the textures on photo paper look superb and have swayed me down that route, particularly for the buildings that aren't in the foreground. That will probably save a lot of cost in the long term and speed up the process. Thanks!
Absolutely brilliant Michael! I see where you picked up from inspiration for the video! ;-) The Hotel is outstanding and you must be so pleased with it!! Great work as always!
Does Alberts ghost haunt the hotel ? - Fantastic story, your cast and crew did you proud :) - The hotel looks splendid and I have enjoyed the journey of its construction with you. Looking forward to the next project.
Hahah. Oh I wish I had thought about that. A section about room 304 which is just above the steps, having reports of the ghost of Albert would have been a brilliant addition. That one is definitely on my list for the Chandwell Ghost Tour (if you saw my Station Build video, you may remember there is a Ghost Tour sign just outside the Tourist Board office). Thank you! Michael
This is brilliant! How did you manage to keep straight faces? I've been watching 'Chandwell' for the buildings, never suspecting that a comedy team was behind it. Is there an episode on the Ice Cream War? If not, there should be soon!
Thank you! Really enjoyed making that. There is not an episode dedicated to the Ice Cream War, but it is mentioned from time to time in my other videos.
Perfection in model railroad presentation. Thank you. Love it. Have followed this series from the start and been inspired to build in similar style. Thank you so much! I am thrilled that I have inspired you to get in there and believe you can do it… you can! I just make it up as I go and get there in the end… great idea embossing the prints. I think that would be essential in the larger scale. Your layout sounds interesting. Would love to hear more. Michael
