Easily the best "guitar review guy" on YT. That's not even close to doing Pete justice. 1. the boy can really play. 2. He gives honest educated advice and commentary. Petes is a straight shooter. 3. He loves what he does. His enthusiasm, skill, and insights make him a trusted resource for me. he uses all the buzzwords, but doesn't sound pretentious, he's expressive in how he communicates. he also seems like a genuinely good guy.
You and Vai are the absolute best at utilizing chorus...Makes me want to go to the mall in a DeLorean.
This is the best youtube comment I've seen in a while!!
Jeesh man.....between you and Ian Thornley, there ain't any riffs left to write! I'm switchin to ukulele!

thats fukin funny! and true.
Awesome demonstration Pete, starting in 2019 using an UA Apollo and plugins kick started my guitar creativity into high gear. Like you said, every thing from them is super cool! 😎
Patiently waited past few years for a top of the line reverb effects unit to come out, add to my effects chain. After your amazing demo, ordered the Golden Reverberator through Pro Audio. Other two effects in your demo by UA are amazing as well. Thank you!
Your playing/writing is always the star of the show.. fantastic demo as always, Pete. Cheers
Oh man those are utterly gorgeous pedals, very tasteful playing really do those sounds justice.
Thanks for Showing off these pedals for us Pete. You sound great with your technique and your riffs. Subscribed !
Excellent demo. Gorgeous tones and brilliant musicianship. Thanks, Pete.
Love them. Glad you did a video dude! I sat through one vid of an inexperienced guitarist play these. We all want to here a great guitarist like you play! Gracias
I love this demo! Makes me think alot about tone and clean playing!
They sound warm and clean... nice!
I was having a look at these pedals just moments ago. I’ll definitely be trying this DS40 setting too. Thanks for the review and great content as always!
Wow, tasteful compositions expertly played, supreme pedals built like tanks, & gargantuan flexable sounds, the Holy Trinity of Sonic Grail achieved. Brilliant as ever Mr. Thorn, another truly kick ass quality presentation.
I sure hope all those video intro songs will make it to a new album... love the pedals AND the music!
Fantastic demo and review Pete, thanks!
The way you play the ASTRA in the beginning had Queensryche Empire tone for days. Great demo and playing as always Pete!
They sure look cool! And I think it’s no surprise they sound great in your hands :D great Video, pete!
The lead on this video is so beautiful and tasty! It was so cool that I kind of wanted to try and play it myself, but I am not quite at at level yet.
Also. I ended up buying those because of this video. They all sound terrific!
I am not a "Reverb guy" at all. Been playing for a long time with just delay into a dry amp, but this one sounds really good & has some controlls that allows me to set it exactly how I want it.
The EP-3 is probably my all time favourite delay unit, and this thing nails it so well. The Memory Man is also incredible.
On the Astra, my favourite thing was the Flanger. This pedal I have actually tried om person. The cool thing I found with the Flanger was that it actually was driving the tone a little bit
This pedals sounds Great 👌🏻 Nice demo Pete , thank You 👍🏻
What an absolutely fantastic intro track Pete!
Thanks!
You can tell you grew up playing in the '80s! A lot of influence there. Great playing man!
Hey man, you're video quality really went up a notch here. Very slick. Keep up the expanded production value!
Been working on it! Made a big investment into a new light, that you can’t see, the one that’s on me. Makes huge difference
@@PeteThorn I could tell! Also I think your editing is tighter too. Real crisp and dynamic. Thanks for continually pursuing excellence in all you do.
Great song man! Really strikes an emotional chord🤘
Thanks for the stereo tip for the uad plugins in console, just tried the setup using my new ventris reverb and the pt 🦩100 and Friedman panned hard left and right! Huge wash of liquid madness!
Epic intro crescendo! *EDIT* I just watched it again 🤘I was totally ready for that outro to go into some Jazz Rock Gentle Giant part 2. thing.
Thanks for the Friedman plugin tip! Killer!
I really liked your track Pete! Tasteful-emotional!
This build up is heavenly
Nice sounding pedals. Extraordinary songwriting!
Awesome stuff! I love UA equipment.
man, you write some amazing stuff to show case the ability of the stuff you demo. amazing
Thank you Scott!
Beautiful opening composition!
That intro was ridiculously good.
Great sounds...not sure I'd use them live though. Great track, Pete!
the spring sounds great and yes boingy works (for me)
Have all 3
Just got the golden and the starlight today! The best delay and reverb sound I’ve ever got 🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
I got the golden! My entire rigs sounds so epic.
Sweet demo! PT is the king!
Thanks for watching Fred!
Just saw that they are beer splash proof too! Not to mention that they sound great. Well done UA!
I saw that too! Crazy
Hey guys I'm back. Good to reconnect with you all again. Hey Pete looking and sounding as usual UNIVERSAL AUDIO they do need any introduction, if they make it then it's very good, end of story. They created good sound in the 60s probably before NEVE.
Impressive and exquisite.
Opening music is like Christopher Cross meets the Edge. Those pedals are so transparent - it's like the sounds they make occur naturally in Nature instead of being electronically processed.
"I didn't even know what was happening" lol, sounds like me 90% of the time. Awesome as usual.
Could pass for The Edge. Great demo and video Thorn! 🙏😎🤘
So good Pete. :)
Playing that red Suhr must feel like driving a nice corvette.
Love this
That video is so cool!
I'm just shy of 48. My parents had a powder blue Astre back in the late 70s. GOTTA be the same people.
Hi Pete! Do you need a line mixer when using those pedals in a fx loop? They’ve got analog dry through am I right? Thanks 🤘🏽🤘🏽
Hi there! Is it necessary to use a line mixer to put the UA pedal in parralel with the dry, or does it do it already by itself?
Is it possible to play tremolo and chorus or phaser at the same time or do I have to buy 2 astra units? Great sounds and review!!!
Any hints on how to best attach Pedalboard-Tape? I have some rubber knobs on the back... Can I flip the backplate like the Boss Pedals or something?
Immaculate and gorgeous.
it's hard to not play with chorus... great demo / song Pete.
That Suhr guitar is absolutely beautiful. I almost blew a load of cash on two UA pedals for a new mini rig, but I think it's time for a new guitar. I've been fighting between a Suhr or PRS. Custom build Suhr is probably best way to go. At their prices, you might as well go custom. Definately. also, I am really at a loss for words when I don't see Suhr guitars listed in the top 10 quality guitars. Is it me, or does there seem to be only a certain few brands than smother the youtube market? edit: holy jesus those guitars are $$$$, time to make a plan. Any one need their home remodeled or custom cabinetry for a home studio? How about a pedal effects board, schidtt-array style, but finer? two tone Burl Maple enclosure with all brushed aluminum folding top tier and Fiber optic side glow lighting effects?
Stellar. Love the DS40 tip. Also I just bought your Suhr Sig and despite it being my favorite playing and configired guitar ever I can't figure out why I can't make it sound this good 😆.
Thank you man for getting the guitar! Hope you’re enjoying it
@@PeteThorn love it. It's the perfect blend of a S-type and LP-type guitar. So versatile and all positions sound great. Well thought out 👍
my astra and golden produce loud ticking noise when hooked up in stereo into an overdriven the walrus acs1 (amp pedal) they play well with amp sims and after the acs1, but not in front for some reason, unless they’re set to mono.
UA are superb!!
Cheers pete as usual so well played and explained ;-) thanks a lot for the Insider info on using two amp sims in the console apollo ;-) I have an apollo twin. Would it be ok to Go Stereo out of the pedal into the two line in on the back of the apollo twin? I only have one HIzi Input on the Front of the und twin. A 1000 thanks ;-) keep the vids coming ;-)
You can do this as long as the pedal is on or in a buffered bypass mode. Or if you use another buffer of some sort. Just because the inputs on the back will want to see a buffered (low impedance) signal
This video is so cool.
damn cool Intro Track!! Sounds like in a TimeMachine.
Another question ;-) is it also possible to put a Distortion pedal into a uad Stereo pedal, then going Stereo into uad console and using two amp sims set clean? Thanks again Pete, Love your work ;-) best, henrik
Yes!
That lead tone was insane! Wonder if UAD will make a virtual pedalboard like the Helix someday?
Thanks for the UA tips! How do you connect your gtr to your Apollo?
I've had more luck sonically with an active DI than the Hi-Z inputs on the front.
I usually just use the hi-z which is really like a built in DI. But DI all sound different so you might just prefer a different one
@@PeteThorn Excellent point and well made, for my LP at least I feel it hits a bit hot on the HiZ. The strat fairs a bit better that way. Take care!
Man I have been really digging what UA has done with these pedals. First saw them on Anderton's and fell in love. Leave it to Pete's insane compositional skills to drive the point home lol. Great video as always man! Quick question though, do you know if those locking saddles are available to purchase separately anymore? I've tried finding them for so long to use with the gotoh 510 on my Charvel and have had zero luck.
Thank you!
My god that sound
Omg. That's my riff. I have been playing that intro for years. Oh man. Oh no,!!!!!!!! No joke ... Shit,!!! That's my riff. 35 years. Thought nobody has done that one before. In the key of A. Then to G. But still picked with the A note first. Just like that. Wthell Pete. I'm saddend and hurt and amazed at the same time. (((((((. And happy,)))). But that's my riff. ,Over 35 years
Hi Pete, awesome sound! which distortion were you using at intro?
For the lead? It’s my PT15 drive, boosted a bit with an Archer
RYRA Big Muff clone he wrote later
Bang slamming beautifull !
I would LOVE to hear some A/Bs against some of the pedals that are being modelled, such as the DMM.
Your song Remember is one of the best guitar song ever... I can't stop to listen it Can you do a lesson Please 🙏
Thank u! It’s my favorite on the album
@@PeteThorn LESSON!
Pete, let's just agree you can make a trashcan sound amazing.
🙃
Can you input line level into these? FX loops are line level right?
Pete you are one of the best Canadian guitar players of all time.
Hey thanks Joe! Many of my heroes from up there! Kim Mitchell, Brian too loud McLeod, etc etc....
I would add “tasteful” and drop Canadian as Pete is clearly out of this world :)
So what's your fav mode of the delay? Tape or "analog DMM" ?
Both are really cool. The tape does the EP3 thing real well and the analog is nice and dark and great mod. I use those both for different purposes
@@PeteThorn Mr Thorn would
You elaborate how you use each delay? Would love to learn more from you. Thanks
I want the backing track🙄🙄🙄
Of course "boingy" is a word! 😄
how many pedals can the market possibly accommodate?
As long as there folks such as me who think buying pedals is more important than practising, the sky is the limit!
🤣
@@VibhasPatil haha true. Kinda like me... Somewhere out there is a pick that'll turn me into Yngwie, Morse, Gilbert, Satch, Vai, EVH, and Johnson all rolled into one overnight. I just know it.
More. 😎
Could you PLEASE the hi-fi audio file?
Silky.
I'm a simple man; I've found that the more knobs and toggle switches there are on an effect pedal or amp, the less likely I am to use it properly if at all. Not to mention these types of pedals are hella expensive.
$1,200 worth of pretty pedestrian pedals. If they made me sound like Pete, I'd have to say yes. But that won't happen.
It's a shame these pedals don't have MIDI capabilities, they sound great though, but only for home/studio applications IMO.
The lack of midi is a deal breaker for me with a digital pedal like this.
Why would I want to watch a video that you haven’t even bothered to read the manuals on the pedals for?
Are you being serious? I’ll tell you why - because I fucking hate manuals. Who doesn’t? Do you know what I like to do? Write and play music. And after like 40 years of fucking with guitar pedals, I think I can handle it when it’s got a few knobs and a few switches. It’s actually part of how I judge a piece of gear. Can I figure it out without having to read manuals and submenus and go to school? It’s important to me. Because once again, I fucking hate reading manuals. I hope that’s all CRYSTAL CLEAR NOW
I hate manuals
@@PeteThornI appreciate your approach to demoing gear, to me ease of use is number one. I would bet 99.99% of your audience feels the same way. Rock on!
And your lead ins are Douchy! RTFM, Goob
