IMO the original Leprechaun movies were already bad, but they were goofy enough to slide as comedic horror that shouldn't be taken seriously. Not to mention Warwick Davis is a lot of fun. This modern "Leprechaun" movie tries way too hard to be a scary film and, as stated in the review, it's extremely dull and uncreative.

As an irishman it annoys me to no end that a film set in ireland not only wasnt filmed in ireland but they didnt even bother to make the houses like irish houses. The cabin is made from wooden planks but ask anyone who has a wooden shed they last 20 years tops so all houses are cinderblock and cement. And the farm house having a basement, houses in ireland dont have basements, only the oldest of buildings where servants would store stuff and work downstairs like in downton abbey. This would normally be nit picks but when you only have 3 locations in the entire movie then your attitude shouldnt be “eh fuck it we’ll just say it’s ireland nobody will know” Put some effort into it and take some pride in your work.

Honestly the only Leprechaun movie I need is 2, the only one with a true hero, the Leprechaun is a great villain with an actual REASON to be there doing what he's doing, and there are actual STAKES. It's literally 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' with the villains and especially the heroes so paralleled--Nancy and Cody are fifteen (we knew Tina was and pretty much assume Nancy was too) with an alcoholic guardian doing questionable things who aren't good at looking after them, they look alike with REALLY similar personalities, and they both brush off the threat at first. Cody has to deal with Bridget's attitude just like Nancy with Glen, and when they realize they have to stop the villains they won't stop until they do while getting screwed over--Nancy locked in her house ignored by the cops and Cody locked in a closet as Morty is killed by his greed. Eventually they outsmart their villains using their brains (she stands up to Freddy while he gives Leprechaun a chocolate gold coin instead of the real one) and end up worse off than they started when she's taken away in the Freddy car and he's the only suspect in the rash of bizarre murders with no family to turn to:):) It IS the only one that's a leprechaun horror movie grounded in reality...
