The beatboxing breakdown was born from Cesar listing to Layne and Scott talking about the beatboxing they were doing in Halo. Cesar said it was like they were speaking a whole different language. This lead to conversations about beatboxing and Layne decided to give everyone a moment in this. He said they could do whatever they wanted while he kept the underlying beat going. It's amazing. The dedication was for Eli's mom and Rachael's brother. Loved the reaction!

RE: the dedication at the end...Jymmie Jacobson was Eli's Mom and John Potter was Rachel's brother. Sadly they had both recently passed when they did the video...
This was also the last video that Rachel has done with them. Since this time she has busted her knee (bad enough to need surgery) and is currently almost full term in her third pregnancy (her first daughter)...
Anyway, I love this medley and feel it is very much underrated. The musical is amazing (one of my favourites, especially of "modern" musicals) and the fact that they covered so many in this one medley is awesome.
Thank you for the reaction DJ (and the love!) The tshirt looks great on you 😘 I adore you...stay the amazing person you are...much love! 💗💗

Not even Geoff, who has known Layne for so many years, understands where Layne gets so many ideas for the videos.😂
I love this movie and all the songs are just PERFECT.🙌❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

I think everyone, including Voiceplay, would be happy with Rachel as a fifth member, but sadly for us she has life, family, and (non-singing)carreer all pretty well established in Nashville. It seems like we will have to be content with the times she gets to be the feature 😁

      @Drake844221 Год назад +1

Yeah, I mean, I'm glad that she's got such a well-established life there, but it does mean that she'll never be a permanent member, as much as _all_ of the fans have been wanting her to be a permanent member since... at the very least, their Phantom of the Opera cover.

What Layne does, apparently, is once he gets the arrangement done, he sends a recording to each of the others. It features their own part in the LEFT ear and everyone else, at lower volume, in the RIGHT ear, and that's basically how they learn the parts. He told this in an interview with Elizabeth Zharoff (The Charismatic Voice), I believe? And when they have a female guest, they (he and Geoff) often get help from another arranger to arrange the female vocal parts to better feature their ranges and abilities.
It's stunning is what it is.

The behind the scenes for this one was so interesting. They built that music box to scale and Tony was extremely particular. He also did Rachel’s dress which is gorgeous. You can’t tell in the video but she is standing on probably about a 15 inch platform and the dress goes all the way to the ground.
Eli is wearing drywaller’s stilts to be the tall man and you can’t tell because he sitting down😂. During the behind-the-scenes he was running around in the pants and the bottom of the pants were flipping out like giant feet. Usually he’s pretty low-key but he had so much fun being silly.
I don’t know why but I love the section where Lane points is Kane and the lights go on and then he throws his hat out of the music box and I’m not sure how they manage that because I don’t think their stage was that big.

If I’m remembering correctly, Layne said the company that controls the music for the movie was very difficult to deal with and insistent about which songs could be used and how they could be used 🤷🏼‍♂️. 😎✌🏻🤟🏻🖖🏻🤙🏻

Great reaction DJ!!! I don't think anyone aside from Layne himself knows exactly how he plan these things - a Layne brain-child is a special kind of beast 😄 And yes, VoicePlay doing all of the songs from The Greatest Showman in full length would be amazing 🥰

I can't help you with how Layne does his arrangements, but if you Google Geoff Castellucci arranging, you will find a video in which he explains in detail how he does his arrangements. It involves knowledge of the singers ranges, computer spreadsheets, and I think a little divine inspiration.

It was interesting that they did musical medley's back to back, Wicked and then the Greatest Showman. Musical theater is so much fun, I love the idea of singing my way through life.... well, actually I do, I just don't want anyone to hear it.
    Great reaction DJ!
Did you hear Elizabeth Garazzo (In the Hall of the Mountain King) doing the extra soprano?

Every guest they have gets somebody's vote as a permanent member. Of course they all have lives and commitments already. VoicePlay may or may not be keeping the place open for J but is that what he wants? I've heard that Cesar has just signed up for another one and half years. It's all a bit fluid I think. I'n happy with everything they do so I make no demands of them. They know what they're doing. Jymmie Jacobson was Eli's mother, John Potter was Rachel's brother. Both were lost that year.

This is absolutely amazing--VoicePlay kills it again. The set design was genius, and if you can't tell Eli is actually wearing stilts. In the BTS we got to watch Kathy combing through Geoff's hair to put in the ponytail. *sigh* If you haven't seen the version of This Is Me sung by Kamala Harris that was performed in front of producers while they were trying to get funding to do the movie you have GOT to. It's so moving and it's the song, and the teamwork, that got this movie made. It was sung as part of the reading, but the flash mob vibe was completely spontaneous by the cast. Grab tissues because it's really moving.

You are so awesome! And you’re a Power Rangers fan as well?! Hoosha!!!! I’m definitely going to join your Patreon when I get financially stable. Also, I have not seen “The Greatest Showman” yet. *Le gasp* I know! But, I am absolutely OBSESSED with this soundtrack!
Peter Hollens also killed it when he did the acapella covers. My absolute FAVORITE song from this movie(which sucks, because it’s the last one), is “From Now On”. My formal high school did it as a musical, and on that song, at the “Home again…”, they cut the band off, to where ALL you hear is the choir, ensemble, and the stomping of people’s feet on the wooden floorboards of the theater. I got chills!

Y'all reactors do know that the ability to casually stop the video right when there's something incredible happening (or about to) is a top-tier supervillain power, right? We're talking Magneto levels of nefariousness at least. Maybe even getting into Thanos territory here. (I kid. Mostly. 😉 Great reaction!)
