What a fabulous video and this piece is a gem. I enjoyed playing the next one as well, so many years ago and can guarantee they are not all in my fingers still. Love those interesting scales in there and I adored the rhythm aspect of these pieces. Terrific videos - love hearing you play and you are such a fabulous teacher. What a gift to our music community to have this library of mini workshops! Thank you!
Yes, there is that 'just go for it' aspect and as a student I really had to voice 'something' for my ears to be okay. Now you have me thinking of finding my music - thanks for the inspiration!
Great pedal tips too and a fun one to try on many pianos. I found a challenge of this one was adapting those repeated note techniques on pianos with various actions. I think I must have done it for festival too as remember a few performances of it.
I’m not able to advise you on what would work for ASRM. If you’re interested in more Bartok, then I would suggest looking at the other pieces in that volume of Mikrokosmos.

Yes to using that rotation to the pinky for those accents. Lovely.

Really nice with the new image overlays
Thank you!
Thank you for the useful tips, Janna.🌷It’s always interesting to hear my colleagues sharing their ideas and experiences. Greetings from Los Angeles!!
Thanks for watching! Let me know if you have other pieces you'd like me to cover.
Fantastic video, thank you!
You’re welcome! Thank you for watching.
Do you have other pieces in the intermediate repertoire that you'd like me to cover in a future video? Leave a comment here!
Why not some Cimarosa, like sonata C 49?
@@carlcorbeil4822 interesting idea! I recently taught one of his sonatas and will give this some thought.
I'd say: Humoresque by Rodion Shchedrin. For me a piece of music which is similarly extravagant... not sure if it is considered intermediate though...
Thank you for this video, amazing tips! I have to teach this to my daughter for her ASRM diploma. Which other dance would you pair it with?
