Respect to shoe designers
Sorry, Im going to be the doubting Thomas and say this record is MASSIVELY suspicious.
She started competing at marathons last year, in her mid 20s....having been a previous 800m runner.
Those super super shoes are probably worth a couple of minutes. They weigh in at 138 gms or 5 oz in old money. It will be interesting what other runners do wearing them and also what Nike, et al, do about weight reduction in their shoes. Most of the super shoes are nearly double the weight.
I agree. Is it the shoes? If it is, it will make a mockery of the sport.
Under 2 min for 800 is not very average in my book... if you then discover you can keep the speed for very long you suddenly are a marathoner... Her style of running is very nice, a very efficent flow.
As an Olympic sub 2 min 800m runner, she is a lot better than just an AVERAGE 800m runner.
@@sambarrows3943 The shoes are legit, the heel stack is almost spot on the max allowable, super responsive foam, and a carbon plate that has been minimized but still retaining the response. What is revolutionary, apart from the price and the fact that they are essentially disposable shoes, - one run and done - is the weight - under 140 gms. None of the existing plated shoes are anywhere close to this weight.
Drafting really help her.
