That means alot coming from you boss👍Now if I can just get a lock down on sound, we were trying out new Samson wireless mic on this one and I just rolled with it. Hope life is treating y’all great & Happy Cinco De Mayo. Have a Corona for me😎
A well deserved award! The pond is stunning. Your attention to detail is a credit to you and your team. I enjoyed watching this video - meeting your team, the sound effects and hilarious comment at the end! Good job guys
What a masterpiece, clearly worthy of most naturalistic water feature, that's a grand slam, absolutely phenomenal, love it!! Great job guys!! Plus those Koi are so beautiful and massive, wow
It makes it a lot easier. I pay attention to everyone else’s edging work and it is one of the most important parts of an awesome job🙏Thanks for the kind words!
I just watched it again! Unbelievable John and the entire Modern Design Aquascaping crew! There's more awards coming yall's way in the future! I'll bet on that! Wow!
The pond speaks for itself but to see a guy the caliber of MJ getting emotional just talking about it... that's just awesome. Without taking the time to read the other comments, I'm willing to bet I'm not the first to say, the funniest line you had was while talking about how "it isn't technically a rec-pond BUT if several people accidentally fell in and it took them 15 minutes to get out, I dont know what else you'd call that". All I can say is, I'm glad I wasn't drinking milk at the time 🤣
Never get tired of watching this video. One of the most amazing water features I've seen. So much attention to detail and passion went into this project. Every reason to be proud of this one!
So kind of you to say so! Is it strange that I respond a year later?😂I just had a bunch of old comments pop up in my feed and I am trying to answer them all@ Take care and have an amazing day!
There is no UV on this one. There is algae in the pond but not to excess. Lots of beneficial bacteria, lots of aquatic plants, Lots of biological filtration. They use a bit of Algaefix but really with proper design and balance, not an issue.
So, if I was trying to optimate a natural water feature for periodic accidental falls, why are external pumps better? Thats the direction we are going to expand our existing koi pond system. It started out as duo bottom drain gravity feed to four chamber filter pond. Then I learned about wetland filters and put one above fed by the skimmer pump. Then three more pools and a waterfall grew off the first quatro chamber pump. Now it's 5 levels, but my wife wants to REALLY be able to swim. Sometimes the grandkids swim with the fish, but I think thats stressful to the koi. I'm thinking of making a sixth upper level more along the lines of your style, our land is sloped, so its all tiers. I have been hardscaping over the epdm liners with spider lath and a hand held mortar sprayer. Everything that is done works great, but my stonework is very formal, and as it gets further out and higher up, I think the natural boulder look would fit well. I do this as a 'hobby', but I was a stone mason for most of my life, so I have some special rocks saved. I'm leaning toward using 22 mil vinyl liner. I like it for several reasons and it doesn't bend my fingernails back. I don't know if I'll ever be done, but as long as the foundation is good and I can add on with minor alterations its work that gives me a sense of purpose and it feeds my soul.
Love your passion! The externals are “safer” for swimming. Everyone has an opinion though. Properly grounded is important as anything though. Would love to see what you have going. You got links to footage?
My skillset is older like me, I can't text, make videos and don't know how to upload. I have a lot of in progress still photos and my wife makes short videos with her I-phone (me flip). Should really get someone to explain it to us. She did put one video onto my home page of a whipper trebuchet shot, but it took awhile. Maybe she has a better handle on it now. I'm still back in E-mail days. I will try to get someone to explain the process, so that I can document and share but it might take some time. Until then progress will slowly accumulate as time allows. Do you have any thoughts on Vinyl liner? like do you know (have you heard) does it taste good to ants, etc.? @@KoiAddiction
Stunning. This is indeed a fantastic build, well worth the award :) Question: why does the up-flow wetland filter before the waterfall need the (two?) jets pumping in water from above? Isn't there enough flow from below?
The top jets are strictly for added visual in the waterfalls, they add an extra 10,000 GPH to the falls. Flow is sufficient for filtration without them.
Yes, I like to do water changes in all water features to remove nutrient build-up. This can be achieved with a rainwater harvesting system and pre-filter or a simple feed from a well water irrigation system. All healthy ecosystems get fresh water in and old water out ;)
it is a nice pond, but I have no idea why you guys are so fond of "fish caves".. Those caves is the PERFECT location for a koi to hide inside or rest when they are sick and dying.. and they will die in there and root and polute the water.. And the owner wouldnt even know that they koi was sick, since he couldnt see it.. - no fish caves in a koi pond, just make the pond deep and maybe add a small outhang on the side, so they koi can find shade.. but you MUST be able to spot if your koi are doing well !
dkphantomdk I have no idea why koi pond builders don’t give places for the fish to hide. I don’t have any problem with this type of fish cave (I have seen this cave/tunnel). It has a waterfall that flows into the back of the cave/tunnel, plus you can see if any of the fish are missing (unless the pond clarity is bad). A first class job one you need to see before making statements about fish caves, not all fish caves are created equal. What do you think happens when a koi does not have a place to hide or rest up? The cave is not the problem, it’s probably more down to something else that is wrong within the pond. What do you mean by you guys?
A hidding place from predators are more or less a false safety, heron and other birds of prey will get your fish faster than they can hide away.. how do you think they catch prey in natural lakes.. even if the koi will be scared into the cave, they will eventually come back out and baaamm, heron got a koi, because they will just stand and wait ! also, otters will hunt the koi even if they are in a cave, so it wont help there eighter.. Sun.. well, yes, they can hide and rest out of the sun, but a Koi pond "like mine" has vertical sides, this will allways shelter part of the bottom for the koi to get out of the sun if it wants too. Agreed, not all caves are equal, and with a fresh flow of water into to this cave it will help alot with keeping the water pure and healthy for the koi in there. a koi getting sick and hides in a cave.. not good, yes, you will probably notice one missing eventually, but for how many days has it been sick !? "you guys" - well, my english isnt the best, but I was thinking that the name "aquascape" was a company that makes these natural pond and puts caves into them, Ive seen those added in a lot of videos.. but once that is said about the "cave", the pond is just awesome, I would LOVE the waterfall feature at my pond, but Ill still keep the main pond as a dedicated koi pond, liner and vertical sides and deep. I guess there is a diffrence betwine a dedicated koi pond and a natural garden pond with a couple of koi :)
Only the smart koi survive :) You seem hostile about this cave thing? Show me a natural body of water with no hiding places (also known as habitat or structure). Seems like a fish tank is the only place I can think of…and who did you mean by “You Guys”? It felt like a personal attack🤨
this is the best naturalistic water feature i have seen,
That is a work of Art Boys👏👏

This was our first video to hit 1000 views🤩
What a pond wow. So natural 😍
Thanks Señor, happy Cinco De Mayo👍🏻
Oh wow that pond is amazing. Excellent video too. I hope one day I can build on that level.
Its not as hard as it seems. Lots of practice. Thanks for the kind words🙏🏻
Great looking pond! Waterfalls and filtration at their best. Congrats

Dude, mind blowing feature there! Literally lol at the end "if someone accidentally fell in and it took them 15 minutes to get out..."
Glad you enjoyed the video, I don’t consider myself to be the funniest guy in the world but every now and again I pull off some humor🤗
Thank you sir!
Beautiful.. just beautiful!!! You should be proud 👊🏼
We are, and we have the best clients too. Just blessed to be doing what we do!

Your teams best vid yet in my opinion, you guys are awesome, keep it up!
Thanks Ian!
Such a talented and artistic team! Beautiful work.
TYVM, it was a great build!
I believe I might take a bit longer then 15 to 20min to climb out of that pond if I “accidentally” fell in. Beautiful work guys!
Thanks Guys, hope to see you soon!
mark tipped me off about this one....he was right...just awesome guys
Thanks, it was sooooo fun to create this one!
Unbelievable amazing! Keep up the great work!
You guys are too kind but I appreciate the support!

All from Japan- I hand picked those babies when they were 4-6” long !
Awesome build, i seen it with the pond advisor before and he was blown away
Love your name! Why “The Pigeons”? I just saw that I missed the comment 2 YEARS AGO!😭 Better late than never I guess!

Great project! I am discovering this video after watching back dozens and dozens of your videos ! Thank you for the useful explanations.
Glad you are enjoying the content!!
Incredible work of art, nice job gentlemen!!
Thanks man! How about a 1 year later response? I just got a bunch of old comments show up in my feed? Trying to respond to all 😂Have an awesome day!
Beautiful feature!! I admire your filter designs. Very interactive pond. Edges seem soft with those large rocks.

Yea, I try not to push the rec pond thing too hard BUT you really should have externals if its for swimming.
Superb, sublime and supremely inspiring! This is very definitely an award winning project. The owner must be so thrilled.
Wow, thanks for the kind words! They are very proud of their pond😎🙏🏻❤️
Incredible just breathtaking work! Hope to meet you guys at pondemonium!
Likewise, we’ll see you there!
Hi John and stacy!!
Hey you, thanks for watching!

It is def. one of our best projects, great job-great clients-great place to work for a month🤠Thanks for hanging out with us🤘🏻
Do you need a UV filter to control algae or is that natural filter enough? I can't even comprehend a pond this awesome!
There is no UV on this one. There is algae in the pond but not to excess. Lots of beneficial bacteria, lots of aquatic plants, Lots of biological filtration. They use a bit of Algaefix but really with proper design and balance, not an issue.
👏🏻
One year later😂😂😂😂
The fish actually look like you put them on payroll to pose for you
I have bribed them with food❤️
Amazing water feature! What is the flow rate per foot of water falls that you shoot for?
It totally depends on what I’m doing. 1500 gallons per foot will give a thin sheet but sometimes I go for 10 times that much :-)
So, if I was trying to optimate a natural water feature for periodic accidental falls, why are external pumps better? Thats the direction we are going to expand our existing koi pond system. If I accidentally fall on that, it will probably take me an hour to climb back up.
Lol, it might take me a year to answer you😭😭😭😭Have an awesome day!!
That looks like a million dollar v project 🥺
Not even close, but I have been waiting for someone to give me a million dollar budget. There is no telling what we are capable of!
Stunning. This is indeed a fantastic build, well worth the award :)

Did you use the engine you showed in the video for the pool of this size? How many watts of motor power
There are five pumps total on that feature. The total amount of amperage is about 20 A. The water flow over the top is a vile 20,000 gallons per hour.
