Sinner was very much in a Killer instinct in the first set, then he went on in the second set, until he became so self-confident thaht he lost this winner instinct. Alcaraz did not play better in the 2nd, it was Sinner allowing him to win. When finally Alcaraz has turn his fear into positive willpower in the 4th set, I could feel their was no way he could loose the 5th. So strange as it may sound, these games are won on the psychological side, not on their skill. The story of a game does not interest me much, and when the game is of bad quality, I find it very interesting how these players struggle inside. Just watch Alcaraz procedure drinking small amounts of three different bottles... Changing his racket to smash an Ace in a most important moment. How Momentums change in a Tennis game, I have not seen this in other sports...
But one victory in Australia this year. Zverev will continue to be a tough match up for Carlos. The high looping topspin is right in Sasha’s wheelhouse being 6’6”. This is why he handles Rafa as well. Not to mention his huge and consistent first serve.
have you noticed how Alcaraz is also changing the way he grunts ? Initially it's a grunt just before he hits the ball and it's short. Then in some points you can clearly hear him first hitting the ball and then making an extended grunt that is almost as if he's shouting at the opponent. Tsitsipas complained about this during the side change at 5:1 in the tie break and you can see Alcaraz just smirking. As an example see this point where the grunt extends even after the ball was past Sinner. For me this is almost hinderance. ruclips.net/video/iYxj0s-4Ers/видео.htmlfeature=shared&t=116
I bet 100k on Sinner and lost that money. Not a Sinner fan anymore. Sinner and Alcarez are just teaming and playing along the game, splitting the money. They're not competitive than any D1 who needs the money. The Big three stay in the game too long and that is why tennis don't have those middle age players in tennis. They really f tennis era up. Now you have those Genz making the dough too easy.
@@machikokyokyosan8104 Correct! Alcaraz was so weak mentally. Zverev was stolen in 5th and he dropped completely after that. Very bad and weak match. Less bad won.
the best games so far has been the 5sets both games of Djokovic, it has good shots, sometimes not even great quality, BUT the drama watching the GOAT struggling, the underdog winning, then the GOAT making to win makes them the best games so far, tennis is not just about hitting the ball its also about the players and how they win etc i agree with you
I feel like Alcaraz was using the same strategy from the beginning, i.e. hitting high loopy balls trying to break Sinner's pace, and then mixing it up with the dropshots and attacking forehands. It just didn't work in the first set due to poor execution. I don't think he made that much of a tactical adjustment after the first set, rather he just started playing better and Sinner got tight. Amazing matchup anyways, we're lucky to have these two competing.
Great point, Its quite impressive when a great player is down and struggling in a match, then finding a way to adapt and beat opponent. The great ones are resilient mentally!
Great rant. I love your insights on the first match. But I feel Zverev will win. Carlos will have to utilise his drop shot tactics against Zverev otherwise Zverev will win. I just feel we will have a new big 3 with sinner, Alcaraz and Zverev. But only tsitsipas if he plays 100% with confidence has the ability to beat them all on any given day. Here comes the new BIG 3
Sinner was serving amazing in the 1 set and he took Carlos out of his comfort zone, as we know Zverev is the serving machine at the moment so I think if he can keep his serving through the entire match on the top level he can really win it. I think the serve here will be the key.
The day before the event began, I picked Zverev to win the tournament (you know, the day you picked him to lose in the first round). He beat a healthy Alcaraz in Australia in four sets. He is playing much BETTER now than he was then. If Carlos was healthy all year and had a lot more matches under his belt, I would be more open to him winning. Gonna be interesting. I’m sticking with my pre tournament pick.
I think Alcaraz has a particularly difficult time with Sacha, and I think it has a little to do with their relative heights. I remember Alcaraz struggling to get the ball high enough to hurt Zverev too much on some of their prior matches. Let’s see how it goes, Should be a fun match!
Sinner could not win the Golden Slam if Djokovic couldn't even win the calendar Slam! Jannik has won 1 slam and lost (a mere) 3 times this year. Remember when Djokovic won 41 or 43 matches in a row, with Federer and Nadal in their twenties, thirteen years ago?
@@Fraudkovic Sinner is Novak's son! Amazing for Novak to have to face an even more attacking version of his own style. Really excited for them to play at Olympics/Wimbledon🎾🎾
Alcaraz won the match when he started moon-balling in the 2nd and 3rd set. MOON-BALLS are highly underestimated tactique on clay. Even against Sinner it worked and Sinner is one of the best to put high balls away, but Carlos is just a great defender so he can make use of moon balls. The fun thing is, that Carlos moon balls were not even great. If he can work on this moon balls it will be an asset just like his drop shot, since he can defend the court so well and counterpunch too if opponent tries to put a moon ball away. Thats why he is a natural talent on clay.

Surprisingly h2h zverev leads against alcaraz.
Yes, but 2 victories when Alcaraz was 18 yo
I have noticed it especially under pressure
I'm rooting for Zverev. It would be good to have the new generation's big 3.
Zverev in 4😎
or 5
I thought sinner chocked that 4th set away it wasn’t a high quality match till the 5th set though
Mate it was one bad volley and the rest were incredible points by Alcaraz. The whole 4th set was high level.
Opened match. I pick Zverev to win his first slam title. Alcaraz looks weaks mentally.
Wrong!
Too bad Casper was compromised, could've been an epic.
Great point, Its quite impressive when a great player is down and struggling in a match, then finding a way to adapt and beat opponent. The great ones are resilient mentally!
💯
Wow, these analytics from this lad are intuitive. I am impressed, subscribed and notifications turned on
Much appreciated!
I think it was a very good match. Very entertaining from both players.
Great analysis
Thank you
Prediction~~ Alcaraz in 5 sets ❤
I must say you have a great eye for the details in the game.
Thank you
Sinner was serving amazing in the 1 set and he took Carlos out of his comfort zone, as we know Zverev is the serving machine at the moment so I think if he can keep his serving through the entire match on the top level he can really win it.
Let’s see how it goes,
Should be a fun match!
just goes to show how special the big 3 matches were. Dont think there was such a scrappy big 3 grand slam semi final when all were 1-4th seed
Zevrev serve is one of the best and Zevrev is a fighter and can win
Zverev is serving insanely
Zverev 80% first serve is unreal.
Sinner could not win the Golden Slam if Djokovic couldn't even win the calendar Slam! Jannik has won 1 slam and lost (a mere) 3 times this year. Remember when Djokovic won 41 or 43 matches in a row, with Federer and Nadal in their twenties, thirteen years ago?
but sinner is novaks daddy
@@Fraudkovic Sinner is Novak's son! Amazing for Novak to have to face an even more attacking version of his own style. Really excited for them to play at Olympics/Wimbledon🎾🎾
@@zetristan4525 sinner is novaks daddy .
@@francescojsb Sinner did not mention any decline in the press conference. Sinner also won the 3rd set
@@francescojsb same Sinner that came back to win in 4sets against Moutet and fought hard against Dimitrov? only to then feel some discomfort? physical problem is part of the game. The game is about who is the strongest not who has the highest potential. Carlos exploited this weakness in the 4th and 5th set and moon balls early on to fatigue him even more
@@francescojsb if you play like 5 matches, its more then enough to be OK. Alcaraz would even win against 100% Sinner with his clay court style.
@@francescojsb bro comparing mickey mouse 250 umag to roland garros. Alcaraz has been sinners superior ever since he broke through. the way you italians talk about this one slam winner i would think he regularly triple bagels big 3 for fun. but the fact is he is an overrated player who always has excuses when he loses.
@@francescojsb well lets count RG titles in 10 years. nobody can prove anything right now. the "fuel" theory is hilarious. Sinner even mentioned in the press conference that he was happy having reached semis (better than last year) and did not mention his late entry to the tournament. his expectations were low any year, cause he himself says that his game is not great on clay
Alexander wins in 4 sets
or 5
I think Djokovic would have beaten Alcaraz and Sinner.
Against Zverev? Not sure because Zverev is on fire.
Amen
Zverev allnthe way
