      @@mangpots7284 simply the style of bike. Over history frame styles change. In the 1960’s was the fashion to have large frames and small amount of seatpost exposed. Then over time has become the trend to have lots of seatpost exposed and more compact frame with sloping top tube. Seat height from pedals to seat the same..seat tube shorter.

      @prokopf-9332 2 года назад

      @@cosinus_square if you don't do that what are the consequences? Does the paint prohibit screws from beeing fit correctly or does it just make it a bit harder to get them in? Or does it potentially damage the thread in the long run, since there are extra particles grinding in the thread?

    • @cosinus_square
      @cosinus_square 2 года назад

      @@prokopf-9332 Yes, screws won't fit properly, if forced they may even seize or brake a braze-on mount in some cases if not careful. Some major things can go wrong as well like cross threading and misalignment of bottom bracket cups or rear derailleur mounting bolt. Incorrect fit and torque settings resulting in damage to carbon fibre components like cranks or seatposts, reduced performance and service life for disc brake calipers or bottom bracket bearings. Facing and thread chasing helps avoid damage to paint around threaded or press fit areas as well. OP is building this bike for himself but bike building is generally a service provided by bike shops to customers, if any damage results from the build process, the bike shop will be liable for damaging customer property. For example, damaging paint on a brand new Pegorreti frame can possibly make a bike shop liable for thousands in paint repair costs alone.Well worth spending the money and time for tools and process if one is part of this trade.

  • @georgeforeman89
    @georgeforeman89 4 месяца назад

    How much paint was in those threads? I just rattled canned like 5 coats in total on my bike and did not have to chase any threads. That wasn’t because I was super careful or good at painting either. If it makes you feel better than you do you! But I somehow doubt that was necessary- just trying to save you a step on your or anyone else’s next build. Super cool bike, by the way.
