Oh wow, that worked so well! I used it on a large curve and it worked decently for that too!

You can also use a small metal pipe or something else round with a sharp edge to cut out circles at either end first, then cut the straight sides. You can get sanding files from Hobby Lobby (or other craft stores with a model kit department) for those hard-to-reach places; they start at 320 and go down to 100 grit. www.hobbylobby.com/Crafts-Hobbies/Model-Kits/Paint-Brushes/Professional-Hobby-Sanding-Files---240-320-Grit/p/921

What type of EVA foam are you using? What thickness, and what type of blade?

@@CosplayApprentice 8mm puzzle mat foam, an x-acto blade and a metal ruler

I think the issue maybe the blade you are using, xacto blades work great up to 6mm but once you get to 6mm or above it works best to switch to a blade like this amzn.to/2XNdio9. This gives you a longer blade so that there is more surface area cutting across the foam at any giving time and will help you to get straighter cuts on thicker foams. If you are doing surface detail work on the thicker foams(not cutting all the way through like scoring details) then xacto blade will continue to give you better control, but if you are needing to cut all the way through I would jump up to the blade linked above. The one I linked to is exactly the same one I use for thicker foams. You can hone it just like the xacto blade with a honing steel and keep it nice and sharp :)
