    • @blackybohead1313
      @blackybohead1313 5 лет назад +55

      Christopher's no one is asking her to serve money. You can serve God while working a job to feed to your family. In fact working hard to take care of your family arguable Honors God and glorifies his name more than much else you can do. But nowhere in the Bible does it say, quit your job and let your family struggle so you can forge your own path and try to find your own happy job.

      @@blackybohead1313 lets put ourselves in what we think Gods perspective is like... If he wants us to put him first, d you think we all fall short of this? what do most people in this world do? if I'm not mistaken its putting countless and countless hours into our work. with that being said how much time do we actually give God to glorify him and lead people to Christ?

    • @blackybohead1313
      @blackybohead1313 5 лет назад +26

      Christopher's we will ALL fall short of the glory of God as Paul says. You can without a doubt glorify God in you work! That being said, yes some people idolize their work and put God second. But there is a difference between idolizing your job, and working hard to provide for your family so they don’t starve. You can glorify God and follow him, while working to keep your family supported.
      Look at Paul did he sit at home and apply for food stamps? No! He WORKED, while sharing God’s word, all while following his purpose supplied by God.
      There is nothing Biblical about letting your family starve so you can find your “purpose”. It is very biblical to pick up your cross, work hard, support your family, and chase God every step of the way!

    • @John-vj6ss
      @John-vj6ss 5 лет назад +15

      Christopher's On the taxpayers back! Where in the Bible dies it say it’s ok to look to everyone else to support your family while “putting God first”? Fact is, she cannot feed her family by her version of “putting God first”. There’s a huge difference between worshipping money above all things and earning money to feed your family. Having a good, stable job is not money worship. If that’s the life she wanted, she shouldn’t have had children and joined a nunnery instead.

    Speaking from a Lutheran point of view. Your job that you're in is where God called you to be. Serving people, doing a good job at whatever it is, is how you carry out God's will. Can you love your God, and your fellow brothers and sisters in your job. Pretty sure most jobs allow for that. In which case, all jobs can be what God has for you. The idea is vocation. You're a mother, be a good mother. Your a wife, be a good wife. To say that there is some destiny out there that God has for you and you just have to figure it out is no where in the Bible. Not only that it causes people to do crazy things like this in search of something that is just not there.

Peace of mind then allows wisdom and attention to what one is doing right now. Hopefully that is gamefully employed in the service of others. There is much to be found in enjoyment of most jobs if one adopts the purpose of service to fellow human beings. Service is where it is at, as you have so eloquently put it.

    In our church we believe the priorities as follows: 1 is to your job, 2 is to your family, 3 is to your church. You can't protect and support your family without a job, and you cant help the church if you can't even support your family.

    Most people wish they received $22000 a year on disability most lucky if they receive $12000 to $13000. You can find God's purpose , go get a job lady.

    I don’t understand how she can be in the baby step 1/2 way point and then all of a sudden decide I don’t need a job.
    Dave’s advice has ALWAYS been get 2-3 jobs!

      My experience is, people use religion to “look” like they are a good person. Has nothing to do with spirituality.

    I really liked this video. I turn 18 in September, but I occasionally look for a job on and off. I haven't had a job in over a year and I have started Bible College this year. I am learning heaps about digital marketing, as well as strengthening my skills in graphic and web design because I believe that I will be able to work for myself in the future. This video really spoke to me because I really feel like I really need to stick my head down and apply for multiple jobs every day. In the extremely rare case that both of my parents die or are unable to provide for my younger sister and I, how will I be able to buy food and water and stuff like that? I remember a sermon a few months ago at my church talking about getting a job to serve instead of for the money and I feel like that is just what I need.
