Etta James 1968 I believe. 'I’d Rather Go Blind' I saw Cadillac Records (the story of Etta James & Cadillac Records) and Beyoncé killed that song. How old was she in that? Angelina was 12 here got the mic for her birthday and what an investment. Here is Angelina, just sitting, sitting on the couch singing into the mic backwards, purposely or not and belting out the best rendition I have ever heard. I was instantly transported back to 1968 when I was 13. That was at the very height of Motown probably my favorite period in music. That music was magical. Angelina could have been born in '56 and she would have been one of best Motown Artists of the time in '68 and doing it at 12 yrs old. I can guarantee Angelina picked out that mic and again what a choice.
She has now equaled all of the greatest artists of all time. The GOAT! And she's only 17! 17! The Music Industry isn't prepared for what is coming. 👣

Angelina puts so much soul into this classic by Etta James while just sitting on a couch in the living room singing along with a tape and with so much vocal fry, it is more a vocal deep fry. That long belting, vocal fry run without breathing is just amazing. Just be prepared to be surprised each and every time!

the planet, she would have garnered a standing ovation. Her radical vocal fry and rasp,
added to the continuous breath she is able to apply, makes it my favorite rendition of this
song. And I do know how great the Etta James version was !
If you take all the ledgends and merge them into one. Then you get Angelina Jordan. We have a lot of young awesome talents in their own categories. Would never down grade their talent. Because it all comes down to what you like and what you can relate to. In my case no one in my 50 years have made me feel songs as much as Angelina have. And on top of all this she is an amazingly humble and carring young woman. She gives me hope like no other.

Awesome reaction and your right any song (Genre), she brings new life to the song she chooses to sing. She becomes the song, not trying to adapt the song to her voice. She adapts her voice to the song, hence the nickname (Singing Angel of a 1,000 Voices). If you listen closely you will hear the voice of the Artist she is covering, God Bless!

I got the impression that this was the first time you've heard this composition. You might find it further informative to check out Etta James' performance of this piece, as well as Beyonce's version on the movie clip where she played the character Etta James in the movie about Etta James. I think Angelina's performance is both unique and stands up well to these two powerhouse singers. ... Again, enjoyed your reaction.
Nice reaction. We are so lucky to get to see these home videos of Angelina honing her skills. We don't get to see much of this from other artists. Angelina's not afraid to show imperfections in her practicing but when she's on stage she's all business.

What we were witnessing here was Angelina trying out for the first time the new Neuman Mic she got for her 12th birthday. You can see that she's got the mic he wrong way, but I dunno if that was a deliberate choice or not. I don't REALLY have any reason to think that it was NOT her choice though tbh. So can you imagine that she was able to do this as a VERY young 12 year old girl ? Of course not. LOL
I have watched all of your reactions to her so far, and I have loved each and every one of them. You should REALLY check it out. She dropped it on Valentine's day Feb14th last year, so she had JUST turned 16, or she was possibly still 15 at the time of recording. Wanna have your mind blown BIG time once and for all ??? Then you know what to do. I'll give you the link to it from Rusty Shackleford's channel. For the record, Rusty is the number one source and one of Angleina's biggest supporters ever. On his channel you will find playlists containing in chronological order ALL of her live performances, as well as a chronological list of ALL of her performances in any setting. Go there and have a look, you really should. It's THE source. Also for your information, she dropped a rendition of the same song EXACTLY 6 years earlier, when she was 10 years old. 13 was AGT and Bohemian Rhapsody, Yellow Brick Road and Someone You Loved. The look that year was quite different from this nugget on the couch. I do recall clearly that she'd just received the mic and it was the first time taping with it.
