Absolutely fearless on stage ! It's uncanny to witness a 10-year-old sounding like a seasoned professional on stage with a live band, live audience and also a TV audience of millions. This is what makes it so unbelievable. This girl was born to sing and this is exactly what she does. Sounding so mature adding her Jazz intuitions into the song and finishing with a soulful run. I want to thank you for continuing your wonderful Journey with our beautiful barefoot princess. Lauren, thanks for your reaction and analysis. Angelina is a self taught jazz singer but seemingly can sing any genre. She is also a awesome songwriter and arranger. Angelina created her own arrangement for each cover she has sung. She has told us she has written more than 100 songs and we have been blessed by 13 so far. Here is the list of her originals, along with a few songs she was the first to sing but didn't write.
"What is Life" first sung at age 11. We don't know how old she was when she wrote each song. Age presented is her age when she first sang it.

Angelina wrote new lyrics for two famous songs by Amy Winehouse, "Back to Black" and "Rehab" since it was inappropriate for a preteen to sing the original lyrics. For "Back to Black" Angelina wrote the new lyrics in the 24 hours prior to the recording, then needed just two takes.

@donnaphillips5255 I believe the video you are referring to is her home recording of What Is Life. She was 12 in that performance but first recorded the song at 11 for her album It’s Magic which was released when she was 12. Oslo also appears on that album. It’s not known when she actually wrote the songs.

Lauren, one of Angelina's songs that very few reactors hear is WHAT A DIFFERENCE A DAY MAKES. She sang it at age 8, just after winning NGT. The girl has NO fear. Listen to her entertain over a thousand fans at her home outdoor amphitheater. Incredible!!

I think the first sign that "we about to pop off" was actually seeing Angelina with a mic in her hand.😄
(I couldn't resist saying that, but actually, surprisingly often she will sing an entire song "in the pocket", as it were, without feeling the need to "go bigger" at any point [see, for example, "Cry Me a River" live at Prøysenfestivalen in 2017, when she was 11]. She has always had that kind of discipline - i.e., to just sing a song the way it should be sung - even years before this performance. It's one of the things that made her stand out so much when she first came to the world's attention on _Norway's Got Talent_ .)

Thank you for a great reaction to our mini jazz queen (only mini in body) this was her arrangement as well and my favourite version of this song , about 4 1/2 years ago I didn't expect a 10 year old would perform my favourite version of a song and then many more at all different ages, so glad you acknowledged her ohmage to the song , That is Angelina a true artist , art comes first , she doesn't show off , only really belts if it meets her vision for the song , feeling has been innate within her since a child, and she is an elite storyteller, she is full of details and subtleties that most miss because now seems every one is obsessed with belting as if that is the bench mark for greatness. This was an event held in support of "Plan International", a humanitarian and development organization with the goal of advancing children's rights and equality for girls around the world. "Foster Parents" sponsor needy children around the world with monetary pledges that go directly to helping the specific children whom they sponsored and are able to communicate with them via Plan International.
The event was held on December 30, 2016 at Chateau Neuf Center in Oslo and broadcast on TV2.
Angelina was one of several performers and delivered a stunning performance.
Most of Angelina's performances after winning Norway Got Talent at age 8 were for children charitable organizations.

Thank you for another reaction to Angelina. In my opinion, she is the best singer in the world, and there are thousands of others who would agree with me, and I hope you will do many more - there are in excess of 200 from which to choose. Every moment you spend featuring her on your channel will being you great emotional satisfaction.
There are so many things I get from this performance. Some I recognised immediately and those I missed were brought to my attention by the more observant Angelina fans (her Angels) and I thank them for letting me know what I had missed.
(1) The realisation that at the age of 10 Angelina has shed all childishness from her voice.
(2) A feeling that the placement of the spotlight at the beginning of her performance was deliberate. If it was, then, to my mind, it was a brilliant move.
(3) The fact that Angelina arranged this song and that the band kept out of the way and let her voice be the focus.
(4) The incredible low note she sang for the word "good" at the beginning and end of the performance.
(5) That wonderful crescendo at the end.
(6) The was Angelina used her left arm and hand throughout the performance
(7) The way she changed the microphone from her right hand to left hand, so that she could flip her hair back with her right hand.
(8) The cheeky smile she gave to the cameraman when she realised he had focused on her at about 4.30 in your reaction video.
(9) The sideways look and grin she gives to her instrumentalists just after she curtsies to the audience -- as if to say, "Yeah, we killed it, guys! Now let's go get some ice cream!"
(10) The almost instantaneous switch from "performance" mode to that of a young child, who curtseyed and gave a sweet smile to the audience as an acknowledgement of their applause.
Others have commented that the performance by Nina Simone should be considered the "gold" standard for this song. Until recently, I had never watched her performance, but have now done so. They just cannot be compared, for Angelina's arrangement is totally different
She's a seasoned life performer over the years with a lot of bands. At her Last Vegas concerts she sang 38 songs with a great band at one evening ❤🎉
And I'm very happy to be at the final summer concert in Norway two years ago 🎉

You said she could be in a movie, and she played a singer in a jazz club when she was 9 or 10 in the show Lillehammer and she got to perform for Steven Van Zandt. She has also opened for Norah Jones in Seoul at age 11, Quincy Jones 85th birthday concert in London (all of these videos are on You Tube) and David Foster among many, many others. I have had the pleasure of seeing her live in Portsmouth, NH for her US public headliner debut and both of her Las Vegas shows last February. I also got to meet her and she seems truly sweet and humble. Her live performances are so good that I listen to them as much as possible. As a musician for almost 60 years, I am so impressed with just how good she is live. I have read where she is a one shot artist in the studio; they just don’t have to correct anything she sings. She is so amazing; I am glad you have discovered her.
Actually she was 8 when she appeared on Lilyhammer. It was shortly after she won NGT in 2014.
I didn’t realize she was only 8 in Lillehammer. I am interested to see if there will be any acting in her future..
Lillehammer was also Bruce Springsteens tv-show debut. If you didn't know. There's a short clip of him laeaving on a boat while Angelina is singing. Even if he's still going strong, it's kind of symbolical, since Angelina also is nicknamed the boss.
Terry. I never knew that. That last surprise I got about talent showing up in movies that I didn’t even realize, was Brass Against in the Matrix movie. 2, I believe. Never knew they were the band.

Voice of a generation. I love everything she does, but my personal preference is her live performances. She is actually better live than she is in the studio. You have to see her perform "What a Difference a Day Makes" There are three to choose from at ages, 8, 9 and 10. My personal favourite is age 9 on Singapore TV, but they are all fantastic.

The Norwegian nation recognized a national treasure the moment Angelina did "Gloomy Sunday" on NGT.
Since then, Angelina has never had any problems getting the best musicians in Norway - or the best orchestras, for that matter, to play when she sings.

“Feeling Good” was originally written by Anthony Newley, Leslie Bricusse and its first performer, Cy Grant. The song was written for a 1964 musical. That musical was entitled The Roar of the Greasepaint - The Smell of the Crowd. Nina Simone released her version in June of 1965. It appeared on her album I Put a Spell on You. Although various artists have also covered this song throughout the decades, Simone’s rendition by and large has remained the most popular. Simone’s version of this song was produced by Hal Mooney.

I highly recommend watching “Every Time We Say Goodbye” whether you do a reaction video to it or not. In my opinion it’s one of her best younger live performances (I believe she was 11) and is criminally underrated. I never see people talking about it but to me she truly embodies an angel in that video. Everything about it, her body language, the way she delivers the song, the gentle breeze, the open sky on the rooftop, the guitar …. brings such peace. It’s very sweet, calming, and you can see how much her technique has developed yet she’s still SO young. Her love for music is very apparent in that video and it also highlights her talent for transferring that feeling of love and peace onto everyone around her. If I remember what I read correctly, she sang that song in reference to leaving Oslo whenever she traveled to LA for work. I’m sure someone will correct me if I got that wrong. But seriously that one is definitely worth watching.

You will want to look up 2 other performances AJ did at 10 years old. Look up the "leaked" version of "IM STILL HOLDING OUT FOR YOU" which was a demo she did but was never reliesed and also look up the 2 songs back to back at the Allen Walker Coming Home Concert, Allen asked AJ to open his show singing his songs.. she first sang "SING ME TO SLEEP" and right after "Faded" most people would never know that AJ was singing with a very sore throat and a 102 fever when she did this, Allen Walker had told her she didnt have to go on but AJ was determined to perform!!

Hello, I recommend that you go back to Norway's Got Talent. There is a RUclips video of all 4 of her performances in the program at the age of 7-8 from the first audition to winning the competition and all of this is worth every moment to understand where she comes from and what music she listens to and likes. Later... highly recommended 🦶🦶👑🗣🎙🎷
That side-eye monent with the camera is my favorite for a multitude of reasons. It shows confidence and comfort on stage, and awareness and connection with the audience both in the audience and out in camera land.

The first time I spotted her was in the series LILLYHAMMER. A tiny child in white you could see singing in the jazz club, glimpsed ghrough the moving people but her voice weaves amongst the sad hoodbye scene ....... and I was hooked and started finding everything I could for 9 years.
Please please please watch her official short documentary ANGELINA JORDAN 10 YEARS IN THE MAKING. .. not only has it got her February Vegas footage it has the clip of her singing with a mike as an 18 month old baby. Listening to her speak will contextualise the stories you are told.plus all the songs you dont recognise are most likely snippets of her origionals. Since the documentary shows the past and present watching it will not spoil your journey of discovery. Though it was short notice due to a venue cancellation her fans flew in from around the world and both the matinee and evening show sold out. I am so jealous as tickets are only going to get more expensive and harder to get as time goes by
I would vote for more live performances than studio ones. The only problem with live performances is the sound and video quality, which can be a bit rough sometimes. "Live on TV" stuff, like this one you just watched, is kind of the best of both worlds - live, one-take performances married with good quality sound and video - but there are great live performances of other types that come highly recommended, like many of her "live at home" covers (as I call them), where she essentially just turned on a camera, recorded a performance, and posted the result.
I know you want to get to her more recent stuff (and some of that is best represented by studio tracks, TBH), but I would not like you to skimp on her earlier stuff - especially her 4 performances on _Norway's Got Talent_ [Norske Talenter]. They are, in a word, incredible. And they serve as the only real explanation of how she could be "so good, so young" in the videos you've already seen (namely, that she was already "so good" even younger). And one of her first TV appearances after winning the competition, singing Dinah Washington's "What a Difference a Day Makes" live on _Allsang på Grensen_ [Sing-Along at the Border - not broadcast live], still rates, IMHO, as one of her finest live performances ever (one of many… one of many).
I have some playlists on my channel that you might consider using to get "caught up" to her more recent stuff relatively quickly. They are in the first two collections of playlists on my "home" tab ("The Best of Angelina Jordan" and "Angelina Jordan recommendations"). In particular, see "Damn, Girl! - The Best of Angelina Jordan Volume 1" (23 videos covering ages 8 to 17), "Angelina Jordan: just one song per year" (11 vids, 7-17), and "Catch Up with Angelina Jordan (a short chronology)" (36 vids, 7-16). Although I had slightly different criteria in mind when I made those lists, you can just pick one based on how long you want your "first pass" through her catalog to take. Why don’t you just choose a song you really like yourself, and if Angelina has sung it, go for that? I have so many favourites that I now go by: at age 8, at age 9 etc etc, and the list is now just so enormous I could reel off 20 favourites for no 1. (I do so love her 8 yr old “What a Difference a Day Makes”, though!)

I'd recommend you do her Bohemian Rhapsody at AGT next. It's amazing, and she confirmed in most of her concerts since 2022 that that rendition has changed her life in many beautiful ways (e.g., it led to her signing with Republic Records a couple month later). Then do either Love Don't Let Me Go, or Now I'm The Fool from her current EP of original songs. Both have music videos. The first was released prior to the rest, and is the most popular one, while the latter is of a more complex nature.

I like that you mentioned Angie's imperfections in this song . Brushing her hair back caused her vocals to drop out in that split second and her vocals at the end drop out a bit when the instrumentals at the end take over which is a mixing problem. What she does is such a scary thing that it is beneficial to point out that she is a human being fully capable of human flaws because she can appear very alien to us in her perfection at such an early age.

Before you leave her younger performances behind, I think you should take a look at her when she was 8 yo performing “What a Difference a Day Makes”. She is outside in a white dress with a red rose hairpiece on her head. This is still my favorite performance of hers. I’ve heard it at least a hundred times. Then you can move up to “Bohemian Rhapsody” at 13 yo. There are so many. I really enjoy your reactions and it’s always so much fun to see new “Angels” find her and be touched by her magical performances. She has changed me in a really nice way.

You picked up on something very important about Angelina in how she will change things up from one phrase to another. Another reactor pointed out how in her performance of Bang Bang at 8 years old on Norway’s Got Talent, each “bang bang” is slightly different. This is what separates Angelina from other young singers you see on the talent shows. They usually try to sing as loud and as high as they can to impress. They are good singers but don’t have the details, techniques and storytelling that Angelina has already had at a very young age.
Thanks for the beautiful reaction to this extraordinary performance by Angelina. Her very personal reading of this classic, which she developed on her own in the previous years (?!?), is sensational not only for a 10 year old girl, but also for an adult, there is not only her understanding of the musical texture of the song, but also the ability to change it in this very personal way. My three fav female singers Angelina, Diana Ankudinova and Aurora. I admit, I'm an Aurora addict, i need a daily fix. She is different in every way. Her voice, her songs her performances and her lyrics. What teenager would write a song "Murder Song (54321)"? If you don't know her do try her performances at the Nobel Peace Prize concert about 9 years ago.
Angelina is the greatest of all time, male or female to my awareness and i am 71 years old. There are over 200 songs done by her both covers and originals, every one of them outstanding in their own way. Watch your subscriptions grow rapidly.

Then you can decide what type music from her you enjoy hearing. Her concerts (live) tend be many songs she did in her youth plus some newer covers. You might even check out her TT channel her she does a sampling of everything. You can always go back in time if there are specific requests or to satisfy curiosity. But this is like finding a satellite channel you enjoy and investing some time with that. Have fun.

By the time she did 'What a Difference a Day Makes' at the Allsang Pa Grensen Jazz festival on stage in the middle of a huge audience of fellow Norwegians following NGT and just before she went to the USA where she performed 'Fly Me to the Moon' on The View with Rosie O'Donnell she had displayed the voice she has carried thru to today. Nina Simone's rendition is considered by most to be 'The Gold Standard'. That said, and agreed to, this
is to me 'The Platinum Standard' for the song. Her arrangement is magnificent as the orchestra follows
the directions she set forth with regard to when specific instruments are to come forth.

Interesting when reactors new to Angelina point out something as a mistake versus a stylistic choice. A very noticeable example is in ‘I Have Nothing’ when Angelina inserts an extra phrase early; but she repeats the variation in three separate recordings.
She never gets nervous
Actually, Angelina played a nightclub singer in the Netflix series "Lilyhammer" a gangster / comedy series starring Steven Van Zandt (Sopranos and Bruce Springsteen's E-street band), she sang Billie Holiday’s "I'm a fool to want you". She was recommended by Steven. She was eight!

Excellent song and performance analysis! Nice to listen to someone who knows about these subjects yet is not so full of themselves. You talked a bit about how she inflects words. With English as her second language and having an understanding of at least 3 others, the one word that stands out to me in every song she sings is “world”. Most people seem to pronounce it as werald/werld. Angelina seems to combine the word would and it comes out as “wuld”. I like it in any case. Thanks and I subscribed for more Angelina!
Several songs at 10 are hallmarks in her early career. Be sure to watch Everytime We Say Goodbye where she stands right next to Ella Fitzgerald. Also I'm Still Holding Out for You a song by Baby Fuzz that he got her to sing first. There's difficult lyrics so the family requests not to release officially but it's a smashing song. One of the absolute best.

Can I suggest to you two originals that aren’t of hers? A Song For A (as the musician said it was written for Angelina) and I’m Still Holding Out For You. These two songs show her maturity, versatility and gigantic talent also at age 10, having no one to cover. Enjoy.
The instrumentals for Song For A were recorded in summer 2018, when she was 12. Nico Cartosio later explained that she recorded the vocals later in LA. It was published in 2019, when she was 13. I assume she recorded it in the 2nd half of 2018 when she was 12.
