I am so excited you came to visit my town! Glad you had a good time. And you managed to find allot of our local must do's. Good job! I was actually at Snowbird that weekend. It would have been fantastic to have met you!
What a great video. We live south of SLC, and take all our out of town guests to Red Iguana. A lot of excellent restaurants in the area. Enjoy your travels!
@EECCTravels I've lived in SLC for 40 years, and I have never known about the festivals downtown. We used to have a Greek festival. I've been to October fest many times. I don't know if I've gone earlier or was just lucky. I parked in the parking lot. 😮 I will have to check out online what we have here. 🥲 Thank you
I’ve lived in SLC for 16 years now, and there is so much to do here, especially if you love outdoor sports! A great time to visit the Great Salt Lake is at sunset. You can get some incredible sunsets out there. You also made a great choice visiting Red Iguana. 😊
I’m glad you came to Utah. I hope you had a blast!! Most of us who live in Utah have never been out on the Great Salt Lake. But if you go to the island in the middle you can see the 🦬.
Very nice, I was at the Italian Fest also only after it got dark, the bolognese and meatballs looked good. At Snowbird, there's a mountain coaster that's kinda fun, climbing wall (if you like those kinds of things). There's also a restaurant on top called the Summit that you get to by tram. Also, in the Fall, Antelope Island has a day when people drive around 600 bison to the pens to be vaccinated. Some people rent horses to participate.
Red Iguana is one of the best Mexican restaurants I've ever been to. Next time you are out here you should head up to Ogden. We've got some yummy restaurants up here.
Sunday in Utah is a great day to go out and do things. Mormons usually won't go out and go shopping or do those types of things where it would require making someone else have to work.
First off, glad you guys visited Salt Lake City. The State of Utah is definitely unique in is own way. I'm born and raised here 41yrs. We've got Oktoberfest, Greekfest, The Italianfest. My personal that i go to almost every year is Greekfest. If you're in town again you DEFINITELY have got to stop by a Sub Sandwich/market called The Grove Market and Deli. If its just you 2 maje sure you only get 1 sandwich you can't eat 1 sandwich by yourself. They are as big a football. Grove Market had been in the same place since 1947 and still has the same owner and family working there. Its to bad you missed Oktoberfest but its their every year, a lot fun rides at that festival. Well glad tou guys had a Great time. Come back see us again.
Oohh!! Looking so nice!! How i can decide where to travel next! :D Same as Europe, there is so much things to see and do in US! It's hard to decide where to travel next (when is money lol). i have been only NYC (there is still lots of things what i want to see) and couple time at florida (keywest, Miami, Orlando and Tampa) And falling love tampa, and i want go there again, with more days to spend, but same time, there is lots of other things to see and do lol xD Ohh and food festivals are the best
5:57 Hey my husband built the swings for the Gateway! By the way they light up at night. He also built the light up teeter-totter/Seesaws that are on the 2nd level of the Gateway. Hopefully you’ll get to see the swings and tether-totters light up at night, they are pretty cool.
So happy to see you came to my city!! It's definitely a food lover's dream here. When I first came here, I would go out to the great salt lake every weekend and enjoy the lake. I swam in it every weekend. Also did you know that Hotel Monaco is one of the first hotels downtown that accepts dogs, cats and feathered pets? Next time you come, Jason needs to check out some of the breweries and distilleries. It seems like there's one on every corner .
The fog/mist is called the inversion which is similar to smog in California. It’s pollution trapped in the valley. My parents live there and have to deal with the poor air quality when there is an inversion. I’ll definitely have to try some of the places to eat that you featured.
I’d skip swimming in the lake and go to the Spiral Jetty that’s on the north side of the Great Salt Lake. The Bonneville Salt Flats are interesting, there’s a rocket contest that is pretty fun and loud. Molé at the Red Iguana is amazing, the line to get in there is assuredly long. Red Iguana 2 is just a few blocks away, you’ll still wait an hour+ for a table.
My granddaughter, her husband, plus my 7 month old great granddaughter went to that Octoberfest, They had a terrific time. Sorry you missed it. Maybe next time!!
So sorry you missed Ockober Fest. :( Next time use valet parking, pro tip. Once you are in it's so huge past the front part that it doesn't seem as crowded. Red Iguana is the best and featured on DDD. Utah is so much more fun than people think...I love it here!
People swim in the Great Salt Lake. My family went several times when I was a kid and played in the water for a couple hours. You just need to make sure you drink plenty of water. Adding that the Bonneville Salt Flats isn't a dried up lake. What happened was the northern portion of the lake essentially broke and the lake drained, with water flowing into the Snake River, leaving behind Utah Lake and the Great Salt Lake.
Wonderful! Living in Albuquerque, I have always thought that the altitude and mountains of Salt Lake City would be similar, and it sure looks like it! I have to say that New Mexico food is the best, but I am very biased! Happy travels!
@@EECCTravels Balloon Fiesta is the first 2 weekends in October and the week between. It is going on now. Plan for next year! The people of many cultures are welcoming!
Word to the wise, there's a second Red Iguana location in the city that's literally called Red Iguana 2. It's much bigger and less people go there because all the torurists don't know about it and go to the original one. They're only about a mile apart too. The original restaurant continuously has a 30 minute to an hour wait just to get inside, Red Iguana 2 is almost always a walk-in.
If you want to do a GREAT Oktoberfest that isn't all that far from y'all (relatively), try Addison, TX!!! It's the closest to the Beer Fests in Germany that I've seen anywhere in the USA. Giant tent with tons of great food and beer as well as live music pretty much constantly. They even have a nice sized midway with carnival rides. Best of all it's really inexpensive.
Me personally I would not have gone to the Italian festival. I would gone to places that Utah is known for. I would have gone to This is Place Heritage Park. Very fun place set up as a western town. Or I would have gone to Kimball Junction (Park City) to Utah Olympic Park. They have a free museum about the Olympics. And some history on Park City. Temple Square. Antelope is another one. It’s on the Great Salt Lake. Bison herd on the island. Very fun place with animals to see and a great visitor center to learn more about the Great Salt Lake, They even have the live brine shrimp the live in the lake. Go food places are Crown Burger where you can taste the fry sauce. Fry sauce is a staple in Utah at restaurants and fast food places. Everyone has their own recipe. Iconic and famous place to eat. Snelgrove Ice Cream. Also trying Utah Scones. That’s a must. Also tasting Utahs award winning cheeses from local makers. Glad you went to the Great Salt Lake State Park. Definitely need to come back and explore more of our beautiful state.
The Italian Festival was in walking distance from their hotel and on the list of recommendations on the official Salt Lake City website. Seems like a good reason to me. Some people plan trips around Festivals like this so I am sure many will appreciate this part of the video.
Next time you’re in SLC check out Gil Gal Garden, you’ll see a bizarro Joesph Smith Phynix made out of brick, built by a Mormon eccentric in the 1930s(?). it’s very close to downtown SLC, maybe a mile or two.
The first couple of weeks for Oktoberfest is less crowded! & valet parking is elite when it comes to that location, just to not have to take the shuttle or walk a far distance.
Will the next time you come this direction you need to stop in Reno Nevada especially in August for Hot August nights and in September 1st Street vibrations also the chili festival in the rib cook-off. Never been to Utah but thanks for the experience through your eyes it was amazing. I'm from Indian hills Nevada
I need to get out there one day. It looks great! Alisa you look beautiful by the way. Just a random question do you think youll get to Montana or anything ? Visit yellowstone? That would be incredible i think i hope to some day myself.
Girl can I tell you.... you can float in The Great Salt Lake for more than a few minutes. As a kid we would be in the water for hours. Yes, drink alot but there is no time limit. In the early 1900's this was what people did. You can float for free! Next time your in town let's float!
That "mist" is pollution. SLC has really bad air quality and regularly makes the top 10 worst air quality list for the country. It's weird against such a pretty nature centric backdrop but yeah. Food is really good in the city though, especially when it comes to Italian, ice cream, or Japanese food. Same for just a little north up in Ogden.
Yeah, the mountains funnel lots of stuff from Nevada and California into the valley and trap it with the exhaust from the Salt Lake Area. It can't get out and stays here until we have a massive wind storm or rain.
I watched this because I consider myself a foodie and I wanted to see what you found, because I never feel like there’s anything of quality to eat here and sadly I still don’t. 😢 maybe it’s just cause I’m a California girl, and I’m use to amazing food from all over the world.
Im 42 and have lived here my whole life. Made me laugh thinking you paid for a tour of the great salt lake. That thing is nasty and there would be no way youd put that water in your mouth or want it anywhere near your body after smelling the lake effect even one time. Utah lake is just as gross.
It's interesting to see my state through your eyes. Octoberfest is always packed.
Beehive State is gorgeous 😍
I live in Utah .
I love Salt Lake City it's beautiful .
Thank you so much for your amaizing video .

I'm catching up on your video's for this series. Watching at 6am and now I want meatballs 😂. Thanks for sharing ❤❤
You guys will have to come back and see and taste even more of Northern Utah. So much to see and do!
I am so excited you came to visit my town! Glad you had a good time. And you managed to find allot of our local must do's. Good job! I was actually at Snowbird that weekend. It would have been fantastic to have met you!
I am from SLC and I like the choice you made. So many things to do here. Wind is unusual. Thanks for featuring us. I enjoyed your video!
I love it that you went to the Red Iguana! Glad you could visit Salt Lake =)
One of my faves
The chicken mole enchiladas are the best at Red Iguana. Big cotton with Canyon and little cottonwood Canyon are beautiful drives on their own.
What a great video. We live south of SLC, and take all our out of town guests to Red Iguana.
A lot of excellent restaurants in the area. Enjoy your travels!
SLC is really an underrated gem I think!! My son spent some time there and I visited often and can't wait to go back.
It really is!

Lived here my hole life glad you enjoyed it as much as I do not so much downtown but the outdoor life fun is truly endless great video

Thanks for the tips!
Red Iguana is a 5 minute drive from my house. I get takeout from there all the time. Definitely some of the best in SLC.
PS.. good luck EVER getting a parking spot at Octoberfest.
If you go again again try La Caille it may be one of the best French restaurants in the country and the atmosphere is at 10 +++

I live an hour away from down town SLC. I enjoyed your video. Now i know where i need to stop next time im in the city.
There is soooo much more to do and see in Salt Lake City There is Red Butte Garden , This is the place park , museums Temple Square plus so much more
But the Salt Lake Temple is under a face lift so there's construction there.
Next time come farer north. We ❤ Sapori! It’s local to me. The owners are amazing people.
