It’s super simple. My speed is cut 50% when connected to the furthest servers I’m impressed with how easy it is. My only complaint is I want all the linksys settings/features in the expressvpn site

Can you record an update to this review using the new native ExpressVPN Aircove router?

The reason is simple the router its using Open VPN protocol witch is very complicated and hammers the router CPU. But there is a solution named WireGuard is a diferent VPN protocol and is very fast . I have a 300 Down and 75 Up using the same linksys router i can get 125 Up and 65 Down but using wireGuard in the same router i can get 285 up and 70 Down a much better result.

The problem with routers is that their CPUs as far as I know lack the AES NI which allows for fast AES encryption/decryption. A router that uses a powerful ARM CPU from a smartphone would do a much better job. Wireguard is more efficient but still, routers simply need proper CPUs for VPN. There are some fast cisco ones but they cost and arm and a leg 😂

I use Vilfo router, that is made with VPN in mind so it has the hardware for it. But, I think it seems to become abandonware. They havent had any updates for firmware or their software for more than a year now. I am looking for something similar that can give 900+ Mbit/s on a Gigabit line with VPN activated. Seems like it is impossible to find.

All routers have this issue because of protocol using this is why changing to wireguard which requires less CPU

Hello, can you conduct speed tests using OpenVPN protocol and UDP/TCP settings as well and post results here please.

im convinced not to buy a router for vpn. they are weak. If you want a vpn router your best bet is to buy a cheap ass laptop and turn it into a router, it would be 20 times faster than a high end router
