Death Stranding is one of those ever so rare and elusive experiences where it does not feel like a videogame at all. And Death Stranding was able to bring the best out of people who never met each other while playing. Truly ground breaking stuff.
@pit2992 If you didn't play it long enough to discover it's brilliance then you are the one who failed. I played mgs exhaustively my whole life and gave up on DS1 quickly. Dismissed it as a longshot type game with its own ambitious style that didn't quite excite me. Thank God I gave it a second shot cuz it's one of the most creative and exciting games I've ever experienced. He clearly saw what worked best and the expansion was a huge improvement as well. DS2 will be as much of a leap forward as MGS2 was in the stealth genre and i cannot wait

He does acknowledge his team. You don't know what you're talking about. Video games do require teamwork-the same with movies and music. But Kojima is different from other video game creators because he is an "auteur". If you don't know what auteur theory is you should google it.

Without HIDEO KOJIMA and his productions with talented engineer artists we wouldn't see the world how it is today. He pioneered the standard out of scratch even back during the PlayStation PSX era in 2000 for controlling the industry with state-of-the-art interactive storytelling revolving it around the content instead of the other way around.
I like how he still wears the watch that was made for Metal Gear Solid V at 0:24. Still shows he still likes his previous works, and it doesn't hurt that the watch looks fantastic.

Especially in a time where AI is causing issues for writers and visual artists, and the capitalist focus on games as monetary content is more oppressive than ever - it always gives me hope when you can still see the huge amount of people who are passionate about the ART of storytelling as a facet of connecting the human experience to each other being the most important part. It always feels like Kojima's stuff is in the right place at the right time to be a commentary on the landscapes we're approaching and this seems just as much a necessary story for now as his direct works. I tell anyone who will listen. Push through the first three chapters and then you will see how brilliant DS is. It sits in rare company with 'Bioshock' and 'The Last of Us' in terms of solid gameplay with theme, story, and world-buiilding.

Kojima is one of the great thinkers of mankind. He uses his games to make the player think about the world and to make them learn about how it works and why it is the way it is (history, politics, science). The player isn’t expected to mindlessly play just to kill his spare time. Had Kojima written MGS as a novel, it would have been rejected by any publisher on the grounds of being way too detailed. It is basically a mixture of spy-thriller and documentary. Nobody would ever attempt to do something like MGS in a movie or TV show, yet alone a video game. It is so detailed that even after 20 years, I still discover plot details I never knew, and MGS is by far my favourite work of fiction. Death Stranding on the other hand features lots of gameplay, but it does so only to emphasise the importance of connecting people by delivering cargo to them. Everything in his games serves a valid purpose.

No he just copy n pasted works and ideas from 20th century philosphers and kiddies playing MGS1-3 thought he invented it and was nostradomus in predicting the world.

Kojima is one of the great thinkers of mankind. He uses his games to make the player think about the world and to make them learn about how it works and why it is the way it is (history, politics, science).
The player isn’t expected to mindlessly play just to kill his spare time. Had Kojima written MGS as a novel, it would have been rejected by any publisher on the grounds of being way too detailed. It is basically a mixture of spy-thriller and documentary. Nobody would ever attempt to do something like MGS in a movie or TV show, yet alone a video game. It is so detailed that even after 20 years, I still discover plot details I never knew, and MGS is by far my favourite work of fiction.
Death Stranding on the other hand features lots of gameplay, but it does so only to emphasise the importance of connecting people by delivering cargo to them. Everything in his games serves a valid purpose.
I wonder if this documentary will go into further depths of the konami split
