- To commemorate the late Style Scott, one of the hardest drummers coming out of Jamaica and part of the legendary Roots Radics, I have recorded a little something to honour him. It was an honour to play his grooves, inspired by his tightness and style and this was one of the rhythms played when I was the drummer for Eek A Mouse in the mid 80s with Revelation Time. Rest in peace, Style.

Big drumm sound! You got it in the pocket and your fills are so hard! Style and Flabba are the most influential musicians to me as a drummer. Their playing helped me really understand the role of the drum and bass in not only reggae but all music in general. Rest in peace Style! And great that Riddim is ruff! Glad I stumbled upon is video thanks.

Beautiful....I have been privileged enough to see many of the great drummers live, Sly, Style Scot, Horsemouth , Carlton Barrett and more, and this is a great tribute to the man. The Roots Radics era was one of me favourite times in reggae music.

You forgot to mention Carlton Barrett from the Wailers band. He is the brother of bass player Aston (Family man) Barrett. Carlton Barrett was also one of the best reggae drummer of all time.

@@abdallaabdulrahman8319 What I like most about Carlton Barrett's style of drumming, was that he was relaxed and he didn't hit the drum like crazy. A drum has to be beaten hard enough to where the audience can hear you in a concert but there is no need to go crazy like what most of these modern drummers do today, especially in Rock and Roll music and heavy metal.

@Mike Morbuk Carlton Barrett along with Sly Dunbar, Style Scott, Loyd Knibbs of the Skatellites, Peter Tosh's drummer Santa Davis all were the best drummers in Jamaica and made the one drop popular.

Not bad. His style goes a lot further, and I can. If you knew Lincoln you would know that in his left hand he played a double non-head. and a 5A in his right. Last time I saw him we had dinner at the Jamaican grill in Albuquerque. He knew I was his most adoring fan. lol Before I said anything he said, "Lets not talk about music", My response was. "OK 1 question, then I wont speak of it again." He said ok. I asked him, "How many albums he was attributed to?" He answered that he stopped counting at 1,000. Needless to say I did not bring up music again that entire night.

here's a Style story for your channel.
Q: Who steals gear from other musicians? I'll tell ya who, Style.
I had rented my sweet GMS kit to the club his band was performing at, here in Durango, CO in the late summer of '97. When I arrived to pack my drums up early the next morning after the show, I noticed my drums were already broken down. Very strange. Why would they do that? It wasn't their job. I found out why soon enough.
Styles had his drum tech switch out their crap pearl piccolo wood snare for my Dave Weckl brass piccolo snare, putting the pearl drum in my drum case so I wouldn't know until I opened it up. I didn't catch it until I got my kit home and unpacked it.
They tried to steal ALL my cymbals too, but I noticed the cymbal bag was missing from the stage as I was loading up. Luckily, I did this at 7am the day after the show, while those jokers were fast asleep in their motel room. I woke the club manager at 7:30am, he drove over to the motel they were in and he went into their room and retrieved my cymbal bag. Real winners those guys and their crew.
At 9am I called the club manager and told him about the snare being switched out. Style and his crew knew they were busted when the club manager woke them to grab my cymbals. But knowing he missed the snare drum switcharoo, they quickly hit the road. Club manager called Style's road manager who said it was an honest mistake. Uh right? And promised to UPS it back to me when they got to Albuquerque. I never saw that drum again.
What kinda musicians/people steal from other musicians like this?
