    Those neutral wires in the load center are beautiful!! I love a neat wiring job. The panel install, not the backfeed, of course.

    I wired my plug directly into a 50 amp 240 breaker. Just turn off the main or pull the meter and flip on my 50 amp generator breaker. Got lights here. 👍🏾

      @@osmanyhernandez2613get a 50 amp breaker install it normally but instead of hooking up wires that feed the circuit in the house you hook up a 240v plug to just plug into a generator. It back feeds the circuit. It’s relatively safe as long as you remember to turn off your main breaker during outages and turn off the generator breaker when power comes back on

    Very excellent and notable points. Its was sad to see such a poor and neglected installation that required so much user interface. Glad to see Gain Solar do yet another remarkable task. Keep up the good work.

    Excellent quality and works great as an alternate power source for my Winnebago RV when shore power is not available. Also great for Florida storm season and our fluctuating power. On propane, this starts up easily and no messy gas to deal with, very clean and easy to operate. Build quality is better than expected should last for years.

    So during the Last big hurricane we had in Florida. A electrician instructed my Son to hook the generator to the Dryer Plug in the laundry room. With a large gauge wire that had one end to the generator and a male dryer plug at the opposite. We turned off all the Breakers we did not need including the 200 Amp main Switch. It worked Flawlessly but I was a bit concerned about his Advice. Not how I would do it.

    To hook up an inverter with battery back up to your fuse box the power both sides of your fuse box but only for inaccessible things can you use a 100 amp double pole breaker that’s 120/240v in my inverter is 230 V 50 a.m. my battery bank I have about 10 KW or reserve ? And yes I know about turning off the main power in a power outage not the backfield , incense it’s all mechanical it doesn’t understand electricity is only supposed to go one way so in a power outage I shut off the main and I can Paul my house for a day or two , 100 amp double pole breaker back feeding into my fuse box ?

    Having been in heavily damaged areas. The way he wired it works period. As long as the owner cuts the main breaker it would work. In Louisiana right now there are absolutely no supplies to do the job correct as in code wise. It can be done and done safe in an emergency situation.

    the stupid question why did he not move all the breakers down. you could move them down or you could just move the top two down to the bottom and then the fuses you said to put at the bottom just put them at the top.

    It is amazing how often I run across this. I was an electrician/millwright for many years and I have seen a lot of death traps.
    Back feeding and killing lineman can happen real easy. They tried to use an antiquated line tap rule that does not apply in this application. Not protecting that circuit was insane! We have an NEC for a reason. I live off grid in the Pacific North west.
    I just subbed your channel. Have a blessed day in Jesus name.

    • @offgridinthepacificnorthwe3210
      @offgridinthepacificnorthwe3210 3 года назад

      @@bigpardner Its simple physics. I have back fed many transformers. I backfed a 4160/480 volt 3 phase ac transformer for a transmission line going to our pumps. I had to send power 3 miles. You can not do that with 480 volts so we sent 4160 and converted it back to 480 at the other end. Can you imagine backeeding a typical 13,000 volt transformer with your little generator? You would kill a lineman dead! Often with power outages there are transmission lines on the ground. I
      f you backfeed one at the time someone is working on it death will be the result.

    and to the shit-ass mounted indoor dryer receptacle? seems once gen is running its gonna
    work the house and neighborhood. shutting off the MAINS will not make a difference or so

    NOT POSSIBLE TO KILL A LINE MAN,,, IF THE POWER WAS OUT AND HE DID NOT TURN OFF THE MAIN HE WOULD BE BACKFEEDING THE ENTIRE LINE, EVERY HOUSE/BUSINESS ON THE LINE. A 30 AMP BREAKER ON THE GENERATOR WOULD TRIP INSTANTLY WITH THOUSANDS OF AMP DRAW... DO NOT BE AN IDIOT, THINK AND RESEARCH B4 YOU POST!!!

    • @joe72205
      @joe72205 7 лет назад +2

      Trina, you have just enough information to be dangerous! The very meaning of a "power outage" is that the supply got cut "somewhere", isolating everything downstream of it. That cut can be as close as your individual utility pole primary side fuse, which may feed only a few, or even one house. If you backfeed into the utility transformer, you are energizing only the isolated section, which may be less than a block long. It is completely possible that your generator can power 5 houses on mild day with no AC running.

    • @filminginportland1654
      @filminginportland1654 7 лет назад +1

      Trina McDonald There are many, many circumstances where this would be dangerous. As the other commenter said, there might only be a couple houses on the isolated side, and if all they had running were nightlights and a couple lamps for example, and maybe a couple people weren't home, you could easily have a < 30 amp draw. But there are any number of situations where this could be dangerous.
      So how about YOU think before you comment. There are always unforeseen circumstances, unintended consequences. so better to be safe. Always.

      Trina--All Line Depts. in the Nation now put Ground Clamps on the Transmission Lines that they are working on during an Outage to keep Back-Fed Electricity from killing them. Many people do not use a Legal Transfer Switch at their homes and forget or don't know that the Main Home Breaker must be open always when using a Emergency Generator...

    • @ACommenterOnYouTube
      @ACommenterOnYouTube 6 лет назад +1

      Trina McDonald:
      I argue'd your same point with a co-worker the other day... He said that back feeding was dangerous because your power from your generator would back feed to the grid sending power to the 1st transformer to STEP up the voltage and now before you know it you have 7k volts going down the street.....
      I told him if his theory was correct then i can power the entire neighborhood from my single 30 amp generator...?? Yet i exceed 30 amps in my house and the breaker pops.. Yet my little 30 amp 7k watt generator back feeding to the street will power 10+ houses with all their AC units on, lights on, pool pumps running, water heaters.... etc... DOES NOT WORK THAT WAY
