Jinjer - Pit of Consciousness. The official video and the Live in Kiev version are both amazing.
Ben Brice this man is wise👆🏼
THIS ^^^^^^^
Yes
Kiev version please! She is a pure beast live!
I definitely second the idea of double future (official video and live performance) of Pit of Consciousness. However knowing Chase's quality to dissect music to the minutest particle, we might be in for at least half an hour future. Which in itself is not a bad perspective at all :)
“I Speak Astronomy” is probably the track that they claim themselves, as one of their favorites. “Retrospection” needs a reaction.
Maybe u could create a poll?🤷♂️
He already reacted to I Speak Astronomy
Retrospection doesn’t get nearly enough attention
@@QueenBee-py3ks For sure. Amazing song!
Yes
Retrospection please!!!!!
Another superb reaction. This is one of the few channels where I'm constantly going "Why isn't he talking more? He needs to stop and talk!" Couldn't agree more about her stage presence, she is riveting. All the more remarkable since, by all accounts, she's fairly shy and retiring in everyday life.
So happy to hear this comment, Vs shit up and watch the video haha. Refreshing to say the least. Glad you're enjoying them
@@ChaseCarneson It helps that you are articulate and insightful.
"Ape" and "No Hoard of Value" would be two great Jinjer songs to react to -- great analysis of their songs so far, for sure!
Totally agree, but IMO he could just pick whatever YT shows as a suggestion lol.
@@Qyngali Right, really, as all of Jinjer's songs are great! I was just mentioning two songs that Chase has not yet covered, but nay of them are pretty stellar, for sure!
I say go harsh! Sit Stay Roll Over.
but also Judgement & Punishment, and Pit of Consciousness ;)
Vlad is such a lyrical drummer. His phrasing is so unique to him. I think he was the missing piece in Jinjer reaching their potential. All of their previous drummers were very technically proficient, quality musicians. But none of them had the almost virtuoso feel that Vlad does. With time and practice, many musicians can learn to play fast and/or complicated music. But the ones that show an understanding for the subtleties - what not to play, when to use unconventional techniques in a conventional way - are true prodigies. Since adding Vlad to the group, I think that description now applies to everyone in the band.
APE, APE,APE,APE ......Official video. Awesome reactions.....best reactor of music on RUclips!!!!
Seeing jinjer live is such an experience. I saw them just before this album dropped. They played Retrospection, which is definitely worth checking out
Next Jinjer songs need to be "Retrospection" or "Punishment and Judgement"
You are definitely my favorite Jinjer reactor. You are one of the few people that pays attention to everyone not just Tati. She's so talented everyone locks in on her and stops studying the band and it kinda sucks. I think every Jinjer fan knows how great Tatiana is and appreciates people acknowledging that but we also know just how skilled Roman, Eugene and Vlad are and I appreciate when people see that and let people who may be new to Jinjer know that it's not just Tati that's amazing it's the entire band. Subbed.
Eugene is such a beast as a bass player ! already saw them 2 times and they are so good. And your right tati has a huge presence on stage.
I fell in love with Jinjer after your reaction for "Pisces," and went and bought their King of Everything album. Tatiana's growls are the best I've ever heard and are now the gold standard by which I judge all other growls. Brutal, intelligible, and rhythmic. Just phenomenal.
This makes me very happy. She's amazing so I can't blame you.
I hated growls before I heard Tatiana. I can tolerate them from other singers now but yeah, she's the gold standard for me too.
@@jayhegener3028 same here
Adding a "ditto" here, and you hit on two of the reasons...: Brutal, and INTELLIGIBLE. Her vocals are much more easily understood while growling than anyone else I can think of off of the top of my head.
@@jayhegener3028 this!!!!
yes for more Jinjer !!!!!
Well excellent analysis Chase.. I was actually in that gig,, best experience of my Life.
Please do a double feature next,, the analysis of Pit of Consciousness the official video, which is awesome and then the live video from this gig in Kiev.
All that performance is a masterpiece.
You are one of the best music reactors here on YT because of your knowledge and the way you explain what the bands and vocalists do.
Chase Carneson and JINJER? Лайк не глядя :)
Earliest I've ever been! Jinjer is always a great reaction. She's so good at what she does, and the rest of the band is just as good.
This is for me the best song of their last album. Other great songs are Ape, Sit Stay Roll Over and Captain Clock live at Resurrection Fest 2018. I saw them live once and they are great.
Thumbs up for Chase
👍👍👍
Jinjer is another big one that I got introduced to through YT reactions alongside Nightwish and Epica. Kinda surprised you haven't done Epica yet, I consider them in the Symphonic "powerhouse" trio with Nightwish and Within Temptation. If you do decide to do some Epica, I recommend "Consign to Oblivion - Live at Zenith".
Such recommendations get quickly buried between all Nightwish comments. :-D I would probably swap Delain for WT as of 2020
@@Immortall1408 So would I. Sharon is great, but she ain't Charlotte. 😋
Epica is another amazing band!
Chase great point on Tati’a stage presence. I live the work if all the members of the band. But when I saw them live Tati just drew my attention. No fake bs or interactions that were forced. Here presence alone was just immense.
I love these Kiev videos, amazing production and the band sounds amazing. Need more of this concert.
Nice reaction. I would recommend "Pit of Conciousness" live in Kiev/Kyiv. It's from the same concert, and it's frickin awesome!!! 🤘🤘🤘🎶🎶🎶
Next retrospection
Yay! This is one of my favorite live clips of them because it’s high quality but obviously not touched up. Really showcases how good they are live.
Saw them last October, they are absolutely phenomenal live. They're a very tight band.
Sir, your video production quality is top notch and your commentary is clear and insightful. Well done. God save the Kangaroos!
Thank you very much! 🦘
"It's just Jinjer doing Jinjer things..." - I like that a lot, actually. lol
Facts!
Good Job Chase, another insightful reaction. Better than most of the reactors. You can actually give a musicians opinion. Love this song, but I actually love the recorded version better! Next up you should go for Judgement & Punishment, recorded or live, both are good.
Pit of Consciousness Live, same concert.
The Kiev concert is astounding, everything from that is top notch. In my opinion, the secret to what you call their "brightness" and "springiness" is jazz training.
She describes her technique as having two different throats that never touch
Love this song. You need to react to Blessed Be by Spiritbox if you haven’t heard it yet. I think you’ll be pleasantly surprised.
I second this.
YT Goat 🤘🏻
Honestly they DO NOT have a bad song. Any song from them is great
Great reaction as always Chase. Judgement and Punishment live or the official video. Such a unique song.
THIS is the best reaction channel on RUclips!
You like female metal screamers yeah? So, you already knew Tatiana here and Courtney of Spiritbox. How about I suggest you UK's female-fronted death metal band, Venom Prison? Larissa, the vocalist, is a monster. Check out their song Uterine Industrialisation or Self Inflicted Violence. They might not be everyone's cup of tea though, so might just check it out on your own.
nothing for somebody with hemaphobia
I saw them live last year at the Damnation Festival. Larissa is a fucking badass screamer.
Their Audiotree Live show was out of this world.
@@ultimatedodger4247 Holy sh*t. Thanks for the tip. That live show was unreal. She's gotta be my new fav Scream Queen.
@@juliettemcgee9055 No prob 😉 Larissa is Russian but moved to Wales, UK. She and a friend unofficially formed this group when they were in Germany, before settling in the UK- and recruited the rest of the members.
Next Jinjer reaction please: "Judgement and Punishment"
I speak Astronomy is a really great one by Jinjer!
Another great reaction! Always a joy and entertaining to hear your analysis on this great band. Great performance by the guys, absolutely love Eugene´s work on the bass on this one. For another live one I suggest "Pit Of Consciouness" in this same venue. But two of my favorites from the last album really are "Judgement & Punishement" official, an epic mash-up of genres that will make you smile and "Retrospection" and amazing deep meaning song with a very distinctive Eastern European feel to it and a very good official video. Try them and keep up the great vids. As I said, always a joy. Peace.
Eugene's in my top ten bassists, including Marko Hietala, Miho from Lovebites, Steve Harris of Iron Maiden and Misa from Band-Maid.
I hoped you were going to do the music video. It has some great (shocking) visuals.
Nice one Chase - good, insightful reaction as ever. It's an over-used term these days, but Tati is an 'artist' in the true sense of the word: she's trying to create something new and interesting with every song, and she'll do, or _not_ do, whatever's neccessary to get the right result, rather than pandering to expectations or worrying about having a consistent image. She's also an artist in the literal sense in that she paints and draws too.
the next one is simple, I SPEAK ASTRONOMY!!!!
Great reaction. Now I just want this lockdown to end so Jinjer can reschedule their US shows. I was going to see them in May, but it was all cancelled.
I'd recommend Captain Clock live... most people recommend the Live at Ressurection Fest version... which is aweome... but I prefer the Live in Madrid version (from the full show vid - 2nd last song of the set).
Great insights as ever, fantastic performance as well.
Would love to see you react to Wintersun from the rehearsal sessions (with Kai the Nightwish drummer as well), Myrkur doing Nattens Barn and Wardruna & Aurora doing Helvegen; otherworldly.
Yes, there was a harmony track. It sounded awesome. Double-Tat! 😂
Has to be the official video man
Dude... I want to see you react to Sit, Stay, Roll Over. Talk about relentless!
Next one?
@@ChaseCarneson absolutely! Trust me, man. If you think this is brutal and relentless, you've not seen anything yet! "Sit, Stay, Roll Over", "Cloud Factory", "No Hoard of Value", and "Outlander are unrelenting badassery and you need it in your life... you just don't know it yet! ;)
Hey man, awsome analysis as allways ! While watching this, one thing struck me. The "lack of" guitarsolos in Jinjer's songs. This point hasn't been mentioned by any of the "reactors" on YT. So, this must be meaning that those solos aren't beeing missed or even needed in the songs? I totally love this music, sadly just discovered them 2 months ago! :) Regards from Norway
I think that what they do is so damn impressive anyway that it just feels like an added extra.
@@ChaseCarneson Yeah, I think so too.
The Wise Man’s Fear - Blackroot Forest
Jinger is super talented. They definitely use an octaver/ sample to double the vocals on melodic parts. A giveaway is Tatiana always fiddles with her IEMs just before those double vocal parts probably to ensure that she is in the correct octave above/below the sample
Jojojo, a nice reaction, Jinjer is realy a piece of art for itself and i am proud that they are done on my checklist from Bands to watch live. keep going with your content! its awesome! So on, a suggestion from my opinion, Watch Rammstein Mein Teil
Oh yes, I was extra lucky to get a ticket like a month after this show sold out. It was perfectly insane
Y T bro,, I was there as well amazing gig
I love the instrumentals at the end of this song. If you watch it with the official video they are pretty amazing too. This song gives me huge Mudvayne vibes. Eugene might be one of my favorite bassists. Great Reaction!
The thing that amazes me is she's self taught and she says she doesn't warm up before shows.
Really? That's remarkable.
@@ChaseCarneson yeah man, she says she doesn't take care of her voice at all, drinks, smokes, ect.
Chase I think you'd love Uneven Structure - Frost/Hail. So many people sleep on this band but they seem like they are right up your alley. The music video for it is amazing (it was made by their guitarist)! I'd love to hear your thoughts on them.
I'd been thinking about requesting 'Incube' for a while because the tension/buildup is unreal in that song and I think he'd really appreciate it
@@handsshapestone310 True, not to mention the video is amazing as well!
May Jinjer and Chase Carneson thrive. Also check out Vitalism - Pagan Part II ;D
Tatiana is brutal
You really should do Epica - consign to oblivion (Paris) or the duet with Floor Jansen - Sancta Terra from Retrospect.
Chase could you please react to infected rain Orphan soul or serendipity. They are my favourite band and I think you would quite like them as you like Jinjer Tati and Lena (infect rain singer) are friends
great you done this song...i prefer the official video cause of qualitiy but thats not a big thing
highly discussed song, its a song to join into jinjer and many people who are into jinjer dont like this song as much...for me it is one of my favorite cause its so different and gives different vibes to me
i feel great about your explaining the good things about this song
hope youre diving more into jinjer, my favorite band for a long time
i reccomend "judgement & punishment" cause its musically really special i think and it would be great to hear your oppinion to this one
Their stuff isn't " gratuitously " brutal. They apply SOME smash and grab, but with a delicate paintbrush. They go spare with precision, to quote Terry Pratchett. Laser focus. No wonder you like them!
Sancta Terra - Epica and Floor
You really should check out some of their play throughs. Eugene(bass) especially has quite a few
I'd love some Ayreon reactions tbh. Preferably from the The Human Equation theater experience.
7:51 yep. pretty lonely up there
I checked a good part of your metal reactions, I couldn't find a couple that you might want to react to:
Dragonforce - Through the Fire and Flames (Official)
Shaman - Fairy Tale (Live version)
Gloryhammer - The Siege of Dunkeld
You gotta do And then there was silence by Blind Guardian. It’s a masterpiece in my opinion. Also The fiddler on the green by Demons and Wizards live at wacken is an amazing ballad. Both is the same singer.
we love that djenty stuff
Veeto This has nothing Djent in it.. it’s mostly groove/progressive
Cool technician u got me
Good video its not my favorite music ( to much screaming ) but your Explanation is good as always and brings me to kind of like that kind of music.
To something else : Unlucky Morpheus will release an new album on 29.July.2020
Here are the song that are on it.
01. Unfinished
02. Unending Sorceress
03. Near The End
04. 籠の鳥
05. Salome
06. Make your choice
07. Top of the "M"
08. Dogura Magura
09. Carry on singing to the sky
Chase, I can't wait for you to get into more Heilung or Wardruna :)
Eugene said in an interview once that the only thing Tati uses on her vocals is a minimal delay, so maybe that's what you're hearing...?
No there are some harmonies that is part of the click track.
@@Qyngali You're probably right. What does Eugene know, he just plays bass.
@@Sithspit_Rogue he obviously meant that those are the effects they put on the mic (which 99% of the bands out there does so nothing new. Reverb and delay are commonplace). I am talking about the click track specifically, which includes some harmonies and additional guitar parts and so on. So we're both right actually. Go research what a click track is mate. :)
@@Qyngali I think it's what I used to hear through my "in ear" set when I was playing bass on stage. We never had anything but the timing click, so who knows.
Have you checked out Amaranthe? You should check out more Eluveitie.
How about Beast In Black?
I support the suggestion for "I Speak Astronomy". Lots of staccato phrasing there. I think there are live clips from Summer Breeze and Resurrection Fest. :-)
I would also like to recommend Epica - The Obsessive Devotion (OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO) OR Epica - The Essence Of Silence (OFFICIAL LIVE VIDEO) ---- whichever´s name sounds more interesting to you.
You have to react to the cover of “ghost love score“ from yannis papadopoulos.( i hope i've written him right^^) He is the singer of a powermetalband called beast in black :)
Great Video as always! If you want to give a few new Bands their time on the channel, check:
Ayreon - The Day the World breaks down
Epica - Sanctum Terra (ft. Floor, live)
Blind Guardian - The Bards Song& Valhalla (live Wacken 2019)
Wintersun - Sons of Winter and Stars
May I place 2 other requests of which I believe, you would be impressed by:
Ignea - Disenchantment
Delain - Masters Of Destiny
To be her boyfriend would be like.. Me : Man i forgot to take out the trash. Her: DO IT THE FUCK NOW! And there would be a me-hole in the wall like in comics ;)
😂😂😂
Thornhill - Nurture then react to Where We Go When We Die
Hello!!
Please make a reaction to the Russian Official M/V (over 25 million views on RUclips) - "Leningrad - i_$uss"
Be sure to click on the English translation subtitles. The video has a lot of allusions, gags and hints.
Thank you in advance! Good luck!
Great reaction. Will you check out Destroy (live BEASTIARIUM)
Ape - a lot of prog influence and does not fit the standard song structure. I believe it was the first song written by Vlad (drummer) after he joined
You are right about not fitting standard song structures and that is why it is so amazing.Would be an excellent reaction
Their process is cool. The band composes and records the tracks, and then hands it off to her. She digests it, and writes lyrics...The first time the band hears it is when she is recording vocal tracks.
Hi Chase, I'm not sure if you'll get this comment because you posted this video a couple years ago, but I wanted to let you know that I've watched some of your other Jinjer reaction videos and you always have an intelligent, comprehensive analysis of the songs and great delivery which makes them very watchable and enjoyable. I discovered Jinjer near the end of last year (2021) and even though I was previously not into metal with scream/growl harsh vocals, I became obsessed with them due to their excellent songwriting and musicianship and the incredible vocals of Tatiana, with her ability to transition instantly and seamlessly from her beautiful clean singing voice, with great tone, phrasing and control, into some of the best scream/growl harsh vocals I've heard, female or male. Their cred with me was also boosted by their great stage presence (mostly Tatiana's kick-a$$ performances) and because they are genuinely nice people (plus, it helps that Tatiana is super hot IMO). I've got a ticket to see them live next month at the House of Blues in Boston and I'm psyched! I also recently purchased one of their "We Want Our Home Back" t-shirts and a couple stickers, so I guess I'm a real fan now! 😁
This makes me really really happy. Thank you so much for taking the time to write this. Appreciate the support and actually going to be doing another reaction to them soon...hopefully. Hope you have a lovely day 🙏
@@ChaseCarneson Thanks for responding, Chase. If you do another Jinjer video, I'll try to post my review after I see them live next month. Have a great day!
Another great Jinjer reaction! If you haven't seen it do "Pit of Consciousness - live in Kiev" from this same concert. It's a great sonmg!
Interesting how you said you'd like to be a flower on the wall in regards to how she lyrically incorporates her poems, their most recent album is called wallflowers 😂❤
My favorite Tati's outfit! So dark! So beautiful!
Who tf disliked?
LOL
"I'm new to them and other bands in their genre." There are no other bands in their genre.
Retrospection, Just Another, Scissors
No Hoard of Value if you didnt react to it yet. Lyrically and musically such a good song. On the top is not my favourite as a huge Jinjer fan but still got Jinjer magic of course
Haste the Day! Saw them at both final Indy concerts. Love those guys.
She actually doesn't write vocals at least on King Of Everything and everything since but she said in an interview that she improvised vocals on Macro and Eugene added she also improvised on King of Everything as well
Gotta react to jinjer outlander
Love your reactions just the way they are Chase!! Your Jinjer and Nightwish man all great. Loved the interview with Brittany Slayes and eagerly anticipate next one that you dropped today is coming soon 💯💥🤘👍
I like that in this video Tatiana is basically bizarro Stevie Nicks
You have to check out their track "Retrospection" next!!
That inteo gave me some odd Dir en Grey vibes. I was kind of expecting hearing Kyo coming in with his nazal singing voice that turns into a banshee scream.... might happen. I'm only 5 min into the vid.
When I saw them last year they had a full backing track, second guitar, keys and voice overdubs. Sounds great and I'm in awe how they handle the timing, very jealous :-)
Jinjer - Retrospection is one of my favorites and would be cool to hear your thoughts on.
She does use background harmonizing tracks. It could be a harmonizing effect to but since they play with a click track it is very likely just a prerecorded backing vocal. Some songs actually have a prerecorded second guitar part as well because a lot of their early (2015 and earlier) songs were written for 2 guitars so if they play any of them they kind of need the other guitar part in there.
